Smoking, Eating, Drinking While Driving Now an Offence,Says LASTMA

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a warning to motorists, emphasizing that smoking, eating, or drinking while driving constitutes a traffic offence under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.

According to a post shared on LASTMA’s official X account on Wednesday, April 9, offenders risk having their vehicles impounded, facing up to three months imprisonment, or serving six months of community service.

“Smoking, drinking, and eating while driving are offences under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018,” the agency stated.
