The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA),Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo,has commended the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oke Afa Ward for fostering unity, gratitude,and party cohesion through the ward’s annual Christmas celebration.
He gave the commendation at the third edition of the Oke Afa Ward Christmas Festival, themed “Appreciation”.
The Chairman said the gathering was an opportunity to celebrate the people, thank God for the year, and appreciate the efforts of government and party members despite the challenges faced throughout the year.
According to him, bringing party members together at the end of the year helps to strengthen bonds, boost morale, and encourage commitment among members.
“It is fitting to celebrate excellence and appreciate our people. There have been ups and downs throughout the year, but today, everyone has come together to thank God, celebrate themselves, and appreciate the government.”
“This kind of initiative will continue to make party members happy and more committed,” he said.
Aare TAT went further to also encouraged the Councilor representing Oke Afa Ward,Hon Olabisi Rukayat Muritala and the APC Ward Chairman, Hon.Seun Dejo,for sustaining the initiative,noting that it promotes peace, harmony, and unity within the party.
He assured residents that his administration remains committed to inclusive governance and development.
“The government at the head of affairs in this LCDA is our government. We are part of the progress, and all our policies are geared towards improving the lives of our people, developing them, and ensuring we leave them better than we met them,” he stated.
The Chairman further urged party members to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, pledging that his leadership,alongside the vice chairman and council members, will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy.
The Councillor representing Oke Afa Ward,Hon. Rukayat Muritala speaking with newsmen,explained that the festival was organized to appreciate leaders, supporters, and stakeholders who stood by the party before, during, and after elections.
“Today is the third edition of the Oke Afa Ward Christmas Festival, and the theme is ‘Appreciation.’
“We are appreciating our leaders and those who have supported us within and outside the ward. We also have raffle draws to make the celebration more inclusive and engaging,” she said.
Hon. Muritala disclosed that the empowerment aspect of the programme focused on widows, with cash grants distributed to support them.
“The empowerment programme is specifically meant for widows. I understand their struggles because I was trained by a widow. I know what it takes to raise children after losing a husband,” she said.
She described the intervention as only the beginning, urging beneficiaries to expect more initiatives in the future.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg. It should not end here. They should keep looking forward to more. My message to them is to keep coming to me; it is not a burden. I know them very well,” she added.
Earlier,the ward chairman,Hon Seun Dejo in his welcome address thanked the people of Oke Afa Ward for fostering unity, while thanking the Councilor for tagging this year’s event “Appreciation”so as honor those who have in one or the other done excellently well in promoting peace and unity in Oke Afa Ward and Ejigbo LCDA in general.
The Chairman of the occasion,Dr Olayinka Alausa in his opening remarks commended the people of Oke Afa Ward for celebrating excellence, urging them to continually draw strength from faith, unity and resilience that binds them together,insisting that hope remains the nation’s most powerful weapon amid mounting economic and social pressures.
He said Christmas,marks the birth of Jesus Christ, carries a timeless message of redemption, peace and renewed purpose
Alausa noted that compassion,mutual respect and a shared sense of responsibility must continue to guide the people’s interactions if they want to overcome challenges and build a stronger future.
He concluded by wishing the people of Ejigbo peace, joy and renewed hope, expressing optimism that the coming year would bring fresh blessings and greater stability for Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
Investigator news reports that the event which is third edition witness a large turnout community stakeholders,party leaders including the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA gracing the event.
Residents went home smiling as they went home with 10kg of rice and garri, others who won in the raffle draw went home with items such as bag of garri,gas burner,3kg gas cylinder,body massage, Christmas food combo, half bag of rice.
Highlight of the event was presentation of award to some distinguished personalities who have contributed immensely to the development of Oke Afa ward and Ejigbo LCDA in general
Also,20 widows went home with the sum of N50,000 so as to have a wonderful Xmas and new year celebration
