    The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area, Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun has signed the “2026 Budget of Transformation” into law, paving the way for more developmental projects in Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area.

    Investigator news reports that the N12,599,565,061 budget focuses on infrastructure, governance, security, and economic growth as Hon Abiodun emphasized transparency and accountability in implementing the budget.

    The signing ceremony was witnessed by key stakeholders, including Leader of the House, Hon. Audu Awoyemi Sulaiman, Council Manager, Mr. Salam Adeyemi and Clerk of the House, Obanla Adeboye Thomas.

    Hon. Kareem stated, “This budget is a blueprint for the transformation of Oto-Awori LCDA.”

    He expressed confidence that the budget would bring tangible benefits to the people, enhancing their quality of life.

Seyi Jakande,received accolades at the annual Eyo Adamu Òrìṣà Festival held at the Tafewa Balewa Square in Lagos for carrying on the legacy of his father, the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande, Nigeria’s first civilian Governor of Lagos State.

     

    The festival celebrated individuals who have advanced Lagos State’s growth and development, with special tribute to Alhaji Lateef Jakande’s contributions to governance and nation-building and Seyi Jakande was praised for embodying his father’s ideals of equity, discipline, and service to the masses.

    The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Hon. Lateef Ashimi has appealed to residents never to turn Somolu roads to Party grounds.

    He made this call during the 4th edition of the Renewed Hope Food Palliatives for the aged,the widows and the Vulnerables.

    This edition is specifically to identify with the season and give smiles to the faces of our people.

    He said,” It is worrisome that residents have suddenly cultivated the Idea of organizing parties on the majority roads instead of event centres, the laws of Lagos State forbids blocking the roads for any social activities, such as carnivals, birthdays, burial programs or anything for that matter,we are equally not allowed to use school compound for Socials,the law is not a respecter of anybody,hire an event centre for your socials he advised”.

    Moreso, the Executive Chairman said, Wastes Generated during the Yuletide periods should be carefully bagged to make it easy for PSP Operators to cart away.

    It is unethical not to bag refuse or to patronise Cartpushers.” You make the jobs of the Refuse Collectors very easy when the Wastes are bagged.Scavengers cannot easily access the Refuse that are bagged.On no account should anybody drop refuse at any junction or inside the Drainage channels.

    Ashimi went further to charged the Community development associations to monitor youths that are engaging in using fireworks,banger or any dangerous items that can cause panic,harm or encourage insecurity in our neighbourhood.

    According to him,the law prohibiting the use of Fireworks should be strictly enforced and culprits arrested by law enforcement agencies.

    Investigator news reports that the chairman used the occasion to call for religious tolerance and peaceful co- existence amongst the three major religious groups, the christians,muslims and the traditionalists.

    As part of its efforts in making sure that the people of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA celebrate the Christmas festival,Hon. Seyi Jakande (JAKO), Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA,brought joy to residents with a Christmas Chicken Sale, offering chickens at a subsidized rate of N3,500.

    The initiative was a huge success, with residents from all walks of life benefiting from the subsidized chicken sale as it is part of Hon Seyi Jakande’s commitment to delivering affordable festive essentials to the community, aligning with his “service to the people, prosperity for all” promise under the HEWA Agenda.

    Investigator news reports that as at 6am on Tuesday 23, December 2025, thousands of people gathered at the council secretariat waiting for Hon Jakande to come and issue them the card with which they would use in purchasing the subsidized chicken.

    Hon. Jakande personally supervised the exercise, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the exercise,as over 2,500 residents benefited directly, following strict measures for crowd control, payment processing, and fair distribution.

    With market prices ranging between ₦15,000 and ₦30,000, the programme provided significant relief to families during the festive season,the people of Odi Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA enjoyed their affordable Christmas chickens, with the atmosphere filled with laughter and gratitude.

    Speaking with newsmen,Hon Jakande described the programme as “a promise kept,”during the electioneering campaign and change of power that his administration would continue to sustain all the people oriented policies and programs of the last administration.

    He emphasized that the initiative was designed to help families celebrate Christmas with dignity and joy notwithstanding the economic situation

    “This is a continuation of what we have been doing every year to support families, individuals and people in the community.Our administration remains committed to community-focused programmes that directly impact the welfare of our people,” he stated.

    The Chairman went further to note that for his administration to ensure fairness and transparency,the beneficiaries came with their permanent voters card and their radio/television permit so as to ensure that the people that would benefit are truly residents of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA.

    Jakande appeal to the people to ensure that they have a peaceful coexistence in the community, celebrate with caution and be cautious of what they eat so that their Christmas would be a blissful one.

    Residents expressed appreciation for the council’s efforts, “This is amazing!” exclaimed Mrs. Adeyemi, a happy resident.Hon. Jakande is truly working for us!”

    Another beneficiary Mrs Fumilayo Mustapha said the programme was well organised.

    “The Chicken price is very affordable and the exercise was well coordinated. Individuals were not allowed to buy more than one chicken so as to ensure that items be enough for everyone to purchase,” he said.

    Another beneficiary,Mrs Oduayo Taiwo said that it was a well thought out initiative. She expressed her gratitude to the Executive Chairman for recognizing them this Christmas.

    ” As he decided to assist us this chicken for N3,500,God will also assist him in his time of need,he will not suffer ” she said.

    Lending their voices,the Head of Agric and social services Odi Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA,Mr Ogunbade Ibrahim appreciated the fact that so many people came out from the 9wards and 36 communities so as to benefit from the subsidized chicken sales.

    He said,”it will bring a great relief for so many vulnerable household following the high economic reality in the community and country at large. The Chairman has absolutely well and must be commended for bringing succour to the people of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA”he stated.

    The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA chapter, Bishop Dr Emmanuel Babatunde lauded the Chairman for putting smiles in the face of the residents especially the Christian community by way of subsidizing chicken that is sold for N15,000 to N30,000, noting that the exercise would go a long way in taking care of things as it relates to Christmas season.

    The Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, has presented a N12,599,565,061 budget for 2026, focusing on transformation and sustainable growth.

     

     

    The budget,themed “Transformation in Action,”prioritizes infrastructure, governance, security, economic growth, and sustainable development.

    Investigator news reports that key areas of focus include agricultural development, healthcare improvements, environmental protection, recreation centres, security enhancements, and skill development programs.

    Hon. Kareem emphasized that the administration is committed to transparency, accountability, and delivering value to the community.

    “We will implement this budget through stakeholder collaboration, progress monitoring, and transparency, ensuring our goals are met and transformation is realized in Oto-Awori LCDA,” he said

    The budget allocates ₦7,559,739,036.60 for Capital Expenditure (60%) and ₦5,039,826,024.40 for Overhead (40%). Capital Expenditure targets critical areas like road construction, water projects, community development initiatives, sports facilities, ICT infrastructure in schools, agricultural infrastructure, healthcare facilities, environmental projects, security equipment and recreation centres.

    Investigator news gathered that the expected outcomes include tangible improvements in living standards, increased economic opportunities, enhanced security, improved education, healthcare and public health outcomes, boosted agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability and improved governance.
