Lagos Poll: APC Aspirants in Ikosi-Isheri Rejects Third-Term Bid of Council Chairman,Urges Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu To Intervene..

    Emmanuel lkpeama

A coalition of the 2025 Chairmanship aspirants of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Lagos State and Stakeholders within the party in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has strongly opposed the alleged third-term ambition of the incumbent Executive Chairman, Princess Bolanle Samiat Bada.

In a petition submitted and sighted by investigator news to the APC Lagos State Working Committee and copied to key party leaders including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the group argued that Princess Bada’s continued bid for office violates both constitutional provisions and internal party democracy.

The petition signed by 13 aspirants, stated that Princess Bada, who assumed office following the death of her predecessor, Alhaji Fatai Oyesanya, and subsequently completed two full terms, is no longer eligible to seek re-election under the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and APC’s guidelines.

The group listed six key reasons for Princess Bada’s disqualification such as constitutional violation, tenure elongation, abuse of party processes, erosion of internal democracy, perceived imposition without due process, and widespread public disapproval .

According to them, her candidacy would diminish public trust in the APC and undermine the integrity of the local democratic process.

“The coalition expressed deep concern regarding the eligibility of Princess Bada to contest in the forthcoming local government elections, citing violations of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“Princess Bada served as Vice-Chairman to the late Engr. Abdulfatai Oyesanya for six years. Following Engr. Oyesanya’s death, she assumed the position of Executive Chairman, completing his tenure and subsequently serving a full four-year term.  The coalition has learned of her intention to seek a third term.”

“We seek justice. We seek fairness. We seek equal treatment,”they said

The coalition went further to call on the APC’s state leadership to disqualify Princess Bada from contesting and urged President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu to uphold the party’s constitution and democratic values. They also appealed to the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) to intervene decisively to ensure the enforcement of party rules across all LGAs in the state.

“The coalition is calling upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene to preserve internal democracy and fairness. We also request that Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State House of Assembly, and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) take urgent and decisive steps to ensure the uniform enforcement of party rules across all Local Government Areas.” The group stated.

  • Governance Demands Experience:The Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo Trajectory.

Governance Demands Experience:The Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo Trajectory.

By Comrade Taiwo and Kehinde Onadeko.

In the dynamic ecosystem of governance, the local government remains the most immediate and impactful tier—where leadership touches lives directly and where the success or failure of government is first and most keenly felt.

Roads, primary healthcare, waste management, environmental sanitation, community peace, and small-business support—all of these fall under the purview of local administration.

Unlike federal or state politics, which may seem distant, the local government is up-close and personal.

And it demands leaders who are equally close to the people and thoroughly grounded in public service. It demands experience.

In this regard, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area stands at a critical juncture,it does not need guesswork.

It does not need a test-run,what Ejigbo LCDA needs—indeed, what it deserves—is steady, strategic, and tested leadership.

The kind of leadership that is not learning on the job, but that hits the ground running from day one.

This is not the time for a newbie,it is the time for proven competence.

That is where the story and significance of Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo becomes not just relevant, but essential.

Aare Taiwo is not new to the system, and more importantly, he is not new to Ejigbo.

He is a name known and respected—not just in political circles, but in the hearts of residents who have seen him show up, stay involved, and lead responsibly.

His is not a story of luck, but of loyalty and learning—of rising through the ranks, earning every stripe not through entitlement but through engagement.

He has walked the streets, worked behind the scenes, and sat at the decision-making table.

From his tenure as Special Adviser to Ejigbo LCDA, Aare Taiwo distinguished himself not merely by title, but by tangible outcomes.

He was a vital cog in the administration’s engine, helping to design and implement policies that impacted infrastructure, youth development, and service delivery.

While others were content with occupying office, Aare Taiwo was building results—and a reputation.

But experience is not just about familiarity; it is about capacity. That capacity became clearer when he was appointed by the then Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, to serve as Sole Administrator of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government for just 15 months where he changed the narratives.

With a wider jurisdiction and more complex demands, he brought order where confusion once reigned. He improved internal systems, prioritized the people’s needs, and focused on delivery—not delay.

He listened, he learned, and above all, he led.Hon Taoheed is ready to reenact the experience and make the 100 days in office more than an event just for ceremony but for monuments.

Leadership, at its core, is about vision and visibility. Aare Taiwo does not lead from a distance,he is on ground—talking with market women, engaging youth groups, collaborating with technocrats, and building bridges across divides.

He is a visible force in his community, but his visibility is not for vanity—it is for validation because presence breeds trust.

And trust, in public service, is earned—not inherited.

What makes him unique is the blend of his grassroots popularity and executive experience.

In a political culture often defined by loudness without leadership, Aare Taiwo represents quiet competence.

He understands policy,he understands people and understands the power of service that is rooted in systems, not slogans.

The demand for such leadership is especially urgent now.

Ejigbo LCDA has grown—in population, in complexity, and in the expectations of its people. It needs a steady hand at the helm.

This is not the time for experiments, for first-timers learning administrative ropes on taxpayers’ time.

Ejigbo cannot afford to slow down. It must accelerate development.

And for that, it needs someone who already knows the terrain, understands the bureaucracy, and can immediately deliver on mandate.

Aare Taiwo is that man,his leadership style is inclusive. His vision is people-driven and his resume is not padded—it is proven.

He mentors the young, collaborates with stakeholders, and governs with humility and strength.

He is neither overwhelmed by responsibility nor intoxicated by power. He is consistent, calculated, and committed to progress.

This moment in Ejigbo’s political journey is too important for sentiments or untested ambition. It requires a leader who can convert the people’s trust into performance.

A leader who can build on past progress, correct lingering lapses, and usher in a new phase of community-centered governance.

This rhythm of experience, if properly harnessed, becomes the melody of impact.

Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo has that rhythm—and Ejigbo deserves that melody.

He is not just a man of the system; he is a man of the people.

And in this season, the good people of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area deserve nothing less than leadership that is prepared, proven, and poised to deliver from day one.

By Comrade Taiwo and Kehinde Onadeko from Aigbaka ward, Ejigbo LCDA
