    The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo has, on behalf of the council’s management, Legislative/ Executive Arms, the workforce as well as the entirety of residents and stakeholders of the council area conveyed his warm felicitations to his counterpart in Ejigbo, Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello on his 57th birthday celebrations today.

    In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rasheed lskilu, Olasoju described Hon Bello as a quintessential public servant whose exemplary leadership in Ejigbo LCDA is a template for effective local government administration.

    He said,”It’s my utmost delight to celebrate our captain in Oshodi-Isolo LGA, my beloved brother; the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello on the return of his birth anniversary today;

    The council boss went further to commend Obe for deepening the progressive manifesto of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his council area via his massive investment in infrastructural and human-capital development.

    He concluded by wishing him God’s continued benevolence and success in his future endeavors.

    The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area,Hon Abdul Hameed Salawu has extend his heartfelt condolences to the people and residents of Onigbongbo LCDA over the sudden demise of their Chairman Hon Oladotun Olakanle.

    In a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary,Owolabi Oseni,Hon Salawu stated that the news of the death of Hon Oladotun is devastating and demoralizing especially during this sensitive political period when various communities need strong leadership.

    He went further to state that Hon. Olakanle was not just a dedicated leader; but a dearest brother and a cherished friend to many, stating that his unwavering commitment to the progress and well-being of Onigbongbo was evident in every initiative he championed.

    “On behalf of the people and government of Somolu Local Government, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the residents of Onigbongbo LCDA on the shocking passing of your beloved Chairman, Hon. Oladotun Olakanle.”

    In an emotion laden voice, the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has described the death of the Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Dotun Olakanle as a personal loss to him, “as he was not just a colleague, but a friend, brother and a companion”.

    The Council Boss in a press release issued by his media office on Saturday over the unfortunate news, described the late Hon. Olakanle as a pragmatic leader with foresight and commitment to the good of the society, particularly his LCDA.

    Otunba Oloyede prayed for the repose of his soul and that God comfort those he left behind to enable them bear the irreparable loss.

    In his words; “it’s really unfortunate that we lost Dotun today, this is a personal loss to me as he was my very good friend, brother and a jolly good fellow, who was committed to good governance and diligently prosecuted his projects that are impacting. It’s my prayer that God Almighty will grant his soul eternal rest, while those he left behind will be comforted”.

    The Mayor of Isolo, Olasoju Adebayo has further demonstrated his resolve to rid the council area of blindness as the second batch of cataract/pterygium patients diagnosed during the World Sight Day commemorative outreach have undergone corrective surgery to restore their sight on the bill of the council.

    The Olasoju Adebayo-led administration of Isolo LCDA had partnered with ‘The Eye Doctors’ to have an outreach held on 7th September, 2024 where an amazingly large number out of the over one thousand attendees screened were listed for remedial surgery while others benefited medications, reading glasses etc.

    Investigator news reports that the first and second batches had the surgery successfully performed on them at ‘The Eye Doctors’ facility on Victoria Island on 19th and 30th October respectively with subsequent operations slated to run through December according to the council’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Anne Okonma.

    Speaking on the program’s impact, the Council Chairman, Olasoju Adebayo highlighted the importance of maintaining health support through strong partnerships with medical organizations. He emphasized that sustaining these initiatives is crucial to the long-term well-being of residents.

    His words: “Our administration places a premium on constituent’s health and this is just one of the many strives we have in the pipeline. We are open to partnerships with more organisations/service clubs that share our vision to ensure that we sustainably make life more abundant for our people” Olasoju said.

    When lnvestigator news spoke with some of the beneficiaries they expressed gratitude to the council chairman, commending his administration’s commitment to community health by saving them from blindness given the high cost of the surgery that has seen them living partially blind before now.

    In his commitment to good governance and development, the Executive Chairman of Oshodi Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has assured that his administration will continue to build a vibrant and prosperous Oshodi to the admiration of all.

    The Council Chairman while addressing stakeholders at the forum organized in preparation for the 2025 budget, stressed that he will not relent in providing pragmatic leadership.

    According to him; “today’s forum transcends a procedural exercise, it embodies our commitment to governance that listens and adapts to the people’s will. As we embark on this journey together, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a vibrant and prosperous Oshodi-Isolo Local Government ”

    The council boss reeled out the achievement of his administration since assumption of office, stating that in the era of rapid change, the need to consolidate “our efforts and chart a course towards sustainable development can not be over stated.”

    He disclosed that since assumption of office in 2021, he has constructed over 40 roads, provided over twenty portable borehole water for residents.

    Continuing, Oloyede said on Education, his administration has presented 4,000 GCE and Jamb forms to indigent students to support their academic aspirations.

    Hon Oloyede went further to say that the construction of a two-storey building for St. Paul Nursery and Primary school and rehabilitation of Mafoluku Primary School are ongoing.These he said are efforts geared towards enhancing qualitative educational infrastructure.

    He noted that his administration has provided a 28 seater free school bus to facilitate transportation of students, implementation of daily feeding for special needs pupils at Central Primary school among other interventions for the education sector.

    On health, he said his administration has made provision for two Ambulances to aid emergency services, distribution of antenatal and postnatal bags to women and the renovation of health center within the council secretariat.

    He promised that he will continue to impact on the society in the new fiscal year as the council looks ahead.

    Speaking at the stakeholders meeting, former chairman of the local government, Prince Samuel Aina lauded Otunba Oloyede for the massive infrastructural development projects he is executing within the council.

    Prince Aina praised Otunba Oloyede for the road construction done so far, stressing that only a determined and focused leader will do what he has done in the last few years.

    He disclosed that a man like the Chairman who has displayed uncommon commitment to the progress and development of the local government is unquantifiable and such man should be appreciated.

    The former Council boss stated that during his tenure as chairman, he could not execute more than ten roads, but a man who has done more than 40 in his first term deserves more commendations.

    He admonished those planning to contest against Otunba Oloyede to drop the idea as he has done wonderfully well to get a second term.

    “Let me say this, anybody who lives in Oshodi Isolo would have seen the wonderful job being executed by the council boss and we are happy with him.

    “The projects he reeled out are verifiable, so, he is a performer by all known indices. Those nursing the idea of running against him to have a rethink as his giant strides will speak for him.”

    Also speaking, the chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Oshodi-Isolo local government, Alhaji Ibrahim Ajibulu said the CDC needs leadership training for its leaders both at the Community Development Association (CDA) and the CDC level for effective community service delivery.

    The CDC chairman said; “the CDC and CDAs leadership need training on community management for effective community service delivery.”

    We also need a bus for our mobility to state functions and local activities.

    Give us slot for job opportunities for the communities. We want you to give the older generation skills acquisition training to enable them live a worthy life.”

    “The chairman should also help us look into the estimated billings in the community, the bills are crazy and killing. We have approached the Ikeja Electric on many occasions but they keep posting us. We need the. Government intervention in this regard.

    “We need you to help us complete our CDC hall and give it a befitting look of a hall and conducive environment.”

    The artisans chairman Adekunle Baderin while speaking at the stakeholders meeting said; “We are asking for empowerment for modern tools to help upscale our works. We are also seeking allowance to make our meetings run smoothly.”

    Speaking on behalf of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oshodi-Isolo local government, Comrade Shuaib Akinyemi, appreciated the council chairman for his infrastructural development projects in Oshodi-Isolo local government.

    The youth body however urged the council chairman to invest more on youth development by creating a digital village where they can learn more technological skills, this he said it will help the youths to harness their potentials and earn a living.

    Akinyemi also urged the government to look into housing challenges in the local government by investing in a housing scheme that will enable the youths to rent and pay gradually.

    He said; “we need a working youth centre in Oshodi, this will help provide solution to some of the problems in the local government.

    In response to the stakeholders comments and requests, Otunba Oloyede assured them that all their requests have been note and would be included in the 2025 fiscal year for implementation.

    He assured that he will not leave any stone unturned in delivering more social amenities to the council.

    Hon. Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo (BAO), representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives,on Monday 26, October 2024,convened with APC Local Government and Ward Executives from Ifako-Ijaiye and Ojokoro LCDA.

    During the meeting, he disbursed Ten Million Naira (10M) to fulfill quarterly stipends for party officers.

    In his address, Olabinjo underscored the importance of unity, noting that a cohesive party structure would significantly strengthen its influence within the constituency.

    Olabinjo also announced upcoming empowerment initiatives, which include financial support, vocational training, and food palliatives, aimed at benefiting APC members and enhancing community welfare across the constituency.

    Deacon Banjo Omole, the Local Government Area Chairman for Ifako-Ijaiye, and Hon. Jelili Oseni, the LGA Chairman for Ojokoro, expressed their appreciation for Olabinjo’s commitment to party welfare and his consistent attention to the needs of his constituents.

    The Mayor of Isolo Olasoju Adebayo has promised to ensure timely delivery of the ongoing Baale/Ibadan Streets, Ilasamaja road construction for the use of the community in spite of the rains lately.

    Olasoju gave this assurance when he led his vice chairman, Shakir Adeola Sadiq, cabinet members led by the SLG, Hon. Sikiru Adesina Salisu, and the Council-Manager, Ms Mojisola Ogabi among others on an unscheduled tour of the project site this morning.

    Olasoju’s first port of call was Ilasamaja Customary Court where the council boss noted the areas begging for attention on the facility before proceeding on foot through Baale/Ibadan/Cecilia Odutuga Streets making stops at intervals to note his observations that could maximise the project’s usefulness.

    Investigator news reports that Hon Olasoju also led his men through Ogunbowale Street where he stopped briefly at Ilasamja Primary Health care Centre foreseeing the return of health workers who had been operating temporarily at the court premises due to the rehabilitation works.

    The team later headed to Okota Ward of the council area for an on-the-spot assessment of certain drainage flaws apparently as observed during Friday’s heavy rains, the council chairman halted momentarily to sound a note of caution to shop owners at Okota roundabout against refuse dumping along the Ibeh Road median.

    At Okota, Olasoju’s convoy of cars traversed Alli Dada, Wahab Kajogbola, and Nwakibe as he requested that removal notice be immediately served on owners of kiosks and other obstructing structures before heading to Idowu Rufai Street where the channel to the canal was slated for expansion to address flooding on the neighborhood.

    The Eze Ndigbo of Amuwo Odofin,HRH Eze Augustine Sunday Ojukwu (Eze Udo ll),has urged students to be diligent in their studies in order to better their performance and  secure their future.

    Eze Ojukwu gave the advice on Saturday 26, October 2024 during his New Yam Festival where he presented the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira cash to ten students in Amuwo Odofin through his Eze Ndigbo Na Amuwo Odofin Foundation, stating that the gesture was to reward academic excellence and  encourage students in his domain to work hard.

     

    The traditional ruler who went further to state that the essence of giving the cash to the students was his own little way of supporting the educational career of the children in his domain and to encourage them to work harder in their various career.

     

    He opined that the support which is in conjunction with the Chinese community in Amuwo Odofin would be a continuous event as his foundation would be visiting schools in Amuwo Odofin to assist children who are in dire need.

    Lending his voice,the Chinese representative in Amuwo Odofin, High Chief Eric Ni stated that the Chinese community is known for assisting children in Nigeria especially those who are eager to learn and does not have support.

    He noted that the Chinese community has given out over 150,000 scholarship, renovated 40 different schools and built 16 schools in Nigeria.

    High Chief Ni who goes with the title “Nwannedinamba”said that he decided to extend this love to the people of Amuwo Odofin because he is a residents of the area and wish to give back to his community.

    The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Hon Engr. Valentine Buraimoh who was ably represented by his Vice Chairman commended Eze Ojukwu for such initiative, while urging the children to make good use of the opportunity to read and become somebody in the society.

    Earlier,the New yam festival with the theme ” Onye Ayala Nwanne ya,” (Be your brother’s keeper) attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, traditional rulers, members of the lgbo speaking community,the Chinese community, Ohaneze and the yoruba community.

    The Chairman of the Occasion, Prince lwuanyanwu stated that New yam festival is an annual event of offering and celebrating immense thanks to God almighty for making the yam yield possible as well as offering a better harvest in subsequent planting season.

    Prince lwuanyanwu urge parents to always teach their children the cultural heritage of Ndigbo so that they would be able to know the culture and traditions of their forefathers.

    Speaking to Investigator news,the Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo Amuwo Odofin Chapter , High Chief Lawrence Chikwado(Akaoma Anazigwe) stated that New yam festival is one of the biggest festival celebrated by the lgbos in which they used the occasion to exhibit the rich cultural heritage.

    He commended Eze Ojukwu for putting smiles in the lives of various families in Amuwo Odofin by giving cash award to ten students and empowering 700 women through his Eze Ndigbo Na Amuwo Odofin foundation.

    The Ogbuefi nwata nacho nkeya went further to urge the beneficiaries to focus on their education,pay attention to their teachers and take their studies seriously so that they can be a better fellow in future, while appealing to the youths to shun cultism and drug abuse, rather they should protect, project and promote the origin of the lgbo man.

    Eze Chukwuakalikemadu Emmanuel,Eze Ndigbo of Oriade LCDA pointed out that New yam festival is a symbol that lgbos are appreciates God almighty for his faithfulness, guidance and provision over the lgbo community, noting that celebrating New yam festival attracts God’s blessings to the lgbo nation.

    While calling on parents to imbibe the attitude of teaching their children igbo tradition and culture as lgbo leaders and custodian of lgbo culture are making plans to bring back the traditions of the forefathers that has been forgotten.

    His counterpart,Eze Chukwuemeka Sylvanus Onuoha,the Eze Ndigbo of lba land noted that New yam festival is part of the lgbo identity, which is celebrated once in a year and showcased to the children so as to teach them the traditions,customs of lgbo community, stating that it is a taboo for an lgbo child not to be able to speak his/her mother tongue.

    The Eze Ndigbo in Riverine Community Oriade LCDA ,Eze Chinedu Muzia called on all lgbo parents to always make out time to teach their children their root,as anyone who does not know his culture, does not have an identity.

    Lending his voice,High Chief Okechukwu Ekweozor,the Onwammemme Atuegwu na Umuawulu kingdom describe the celebrant as a man of many parts whose vision and aim as a custodian of the culture is to help the less privileged in the society, noting that Eze Ojukwu has always stand tall in terms of helping the needy in Amuwo Odofin and beyond.

    While urging other lgbo leaders and traditional rulers to emulate his kind gesture in assisting those in need in their various community.
