    Ejigbo, Nigeria – In a nail-biting final,Rainbow FC on Sunday 14, December 2025,emerged victorious in the Ailegun Youth Football Competition,defeating TAT FC 1-0 in a match that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

    The tournament, organized by Councilor representing Ailegun ward,Hon Ifatumise Adedoyin Adefioye, brought together young talents from across the ward showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

    The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA,Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo who was ably represented by one of his aide, Alhaji Taiwo Rahman and Hon Ogunleye Abuga, praised the councilor for her commitment to youth development and sports, stating that the competition aligned with his administration’s seven-point agenda of promoting education with sports and youth engagement

    Aare TAT in his remarks stated that he is thrilled to see the youths excel in sports and other areas of endeavor.

    He noted that the tournament organized by Hon Ifatumise has showcased the immense talent and potential of the young people,and he is committed to continuing to support and promote youth development in Ejigbo.

    “As a government, we believe that sports can be a powerful tool for social change and economic empowerment, and we will continue to invest in initiatives that promote youth engagement and sports development.”

    “I congratulate Rainbow FC  and TAT FC for getting to the final, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. I also commend Councilor Adefioye for her dedication to youth development and her vision for a brighter future for our young people.” he said

    The councilor, Hon Ifatumise Adedoyin Adefioye, described the tournament as “epic” and stressed the need to continue engaging youths through sports.

    She thanked the local organizers committee, led by Prince Arowooye Abdulrahman, for putting up a good game.

    Lending his voice,the Councilor representing Aigbaika ward, Hon Taiwo Idowu who is among the team that represented the Executive Chairman described the event as “really fantastic and remarkable, thanked the Councilor for Ailegun ward for intervening in sport development, praying that God will continue to strengthen her to do more for the youths of Ailegun.

    Hon Idowu opined that such competition would be replicated in his ward after the Chairman’s cup slated for January 2026.

    Also,the Ward Chairman for Ailegun ward, Prince Babatunde Adefioye said that the competition was designed to support the well-being and engagement of the youths despite socio-economic challenges.

    “This is a tactical and strategic way of diverting the attention of our young people away from wrongdoings. So, this is an opportunity to actually unleash the inherent potential in our young people.

    “There’s no better way, or better avenue, to catch them young, to get the best talent out, than in competitions like this,”Prince Babatunde said.

    He appreciated the Councilor for following the path of the Executive Chairman in youth development, while urging the players to strive hard for a better future.

    Speaking with newsmen after the first half,Aare TAT newsmen,noted that he had been following the matches and display of skills of the players as the nature of his job didn’t allow him to participate physically.

    “We have discovered a lot of talents from the blow of the first whistle in this tournament. We are going to have more talents today ”

    “I congratulate the winners to be and the runner up for their sportsmanship and show of professionalism.

    “My special commendation also goes to the match officials and supporters of the teams for comporting themselves in a dignifying manner throughout the competition regardless the outcome of each match”

    Investigator news reports that the competition saw several talented players, with Rainbow FC’s jersey number 4 scoring the only goal of the match in the 28th minute.

    A large turnout of sports enthusiasts  within and outside Ailegun ward gathered at Pink Street as the match delivered a pulsating and entertaining event that was similar to what’s obtainable in an European UEFA Champions League final.

    TAT FC tried to stage a comeback in the second half but was thwarted by the Rainbow FC defense.

     

    The organizers presented cash prizes to the winners, including N200,000 to Rainbow FC, N100,000 to TAT FC, and N50,000 to Sir Cosmos, who took third place.

    Speaking with newsmen after the competition,Hon Adedoyin Adefioye described the tournament as an ‘epic one’, while stressing the need to keep engaging the youth.

    She thanked the local organizers committee (LOC) led by Prince Arowooye Abdulrahman for putting up a good game.

     

    The Local Organizing Committee Chairman Prince Arowooye Abdulrahman stated that the essence of the football youth tournament is to bring the youths together and showcase their skills and expressing themselves for future endeavours.

    He applauded the youthful councilor for recognizing the importance of the youths in the ward, noting that the Councilor deem it fit in giving the youths a voice through sports and other youth engagement.

    Prince Abdulramah used the occasion to appreciate the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA,Aare TAT for his love, passion and programs for the youths of Ailegun ward and Ejigbo LCDA in general.

    With the referee, Olaleye Taoyyib blowing the final whistle at around 4:30pm, fans of the luckiest team of the day – Rainbow FC took over the field in jubilation of their team’s triumph to rejoice with the players and team officials.

    The third-place match was given to Sir Cosmos following the unruly behavior of Olusumande during with TAT FC in the Semi final game and were disqualified by the organizers.

    Investigator news gathered that during the Semi final, Rainbow FC defeated Sir Cosmas by 5:1, while TAT defeated Olusumande by 1:0.

    The Coach of the Rainbow FC, said that the victory was not a surprise as the team had been on a winning streak even outside the local government.

    The Coach of TAT FC said, “Nothing went wrong with our side, we lost to a better tactical team. Their tactics and cohesion are more than our own.”

    Women across Nigeria are being urged to take a stand against the growing threat of digital violence targeting women and girls.

    The call was made by Princess Fauziyyah Olaloko, Chairperson of Women Rights And Child Advocacy (WRICAD), at an event in Lagos marking the International Day to End Domestic and Sexual Violence Against Women.

    Princess Olaloko emphasized that digital violence is a serious issue, and women must unite to fight against online harassment, cyberstalking, and other forms of digital abuse.

    She highlighted the importance of reporting incidents and protecting personal information, stating that “digital violence is real violence”.

    “Many people think violence only happens when someone is hit or beaten. But things have changed,violence now enters homes through phones and the internet. That is why we are speaking on the theme “Digital Violence Is Real Violence”

    “Some people receive threats on WhatsApp,get messages that bring fear, have their private pictures used to embarrass them and some are monitored online without their consent.”

    “Many young girls fall into danger because someone pretends to be a friend on the phone. All these things may not leave bruises, but they leave deep pain. They cause worry, sleepless nights,shame and that pain is also violence.”

    “It is said that when we understand something clearly, we can protect ourselves. That is why WRICAD is here. Our aim is to expose these silent harms and teach simple steps that can help keep women and children safe.”

    “If anybody is threatening you online, report it,if someone sends messages that make you afraid, do not keep quiet.”

    “If your child is using a phone, guide them,talk to them. Watch what they do online and stop sharing private things with strangers. And if anybody tries to use your information to control you, know that you have rights,you can seek help”she said

    Princess Olaloko went further to state that  “Women are community pillars,”, while stressing the importance of women’s collective action against digital violence,she urge all women and girls to come together so as to combat digital abuse and promote online safety for all.

    “We also want to encourage unity among women. You know this already when women stand together, the entire community is stronger. If your neighbour faces trouble, do not laugh at her,do not shame her. Help her speak up and let her know she is not alone.”

    “Today’s outreach is not just a program. It is a message of hope and we want women in Ejigbo to know that their safety matters and their dignity matters. Online or offline, you deserve respect.”

    The Convener acknowledge all their partners, supporters,for standing with them especially Ejigbo LCDA,the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ejigbo Chapter.She also thanked the market leaders for their hospitality

    The event featured a keynote address by Comrade Suleiman, who highlighted the rise of technology has brought a new form of harm: digital violence.

    He stated that women and girls in Nigeria face cyberbullying, online harassment, non-consensual sharing of images, and digital stalking.

    According to statistics presented by him 45% of women have experienced cyberstalking, and 10.6% have faced doxing, putting them at risk of further harm.

    He emphasized that digital violence is not just a problem among adults, but also affects children and adolescents, especially girls.

    Comrade Suleiman noted that digital violence leaves deep emotional scars, destroys confidence, and follows victims into their physical lives.

    He called on individuals to raise awareness that digital violence is a crime and not a joke, and to support survivors by creating safe reporting channels.

    A report released in 2025 found that 9 in 10 Nigerian children face at least one form of “online risk” — including sexual exploitation, unsolicited sexual content, cyberbullying, scams, and general digital abuse.

    “Many cases involve minors receiving unwanted sexual advances, messages,images, or being coerced into sharing content — thus highlighting the vulnerability of children and teenagers online.”

    ” According to the report, about 58% of online harms target women —indicating a strong gendered dimension to digital violence.”

    “This shows that digital violence in Nigeria is not only a problem among adults —children and adolescents, especially girls, are deeply affected.”

    “In today’s world, abuse no longer happens only behind closed doors. With the rise of technology, many women and girls now face a new form of harm—digital violence.”

    “This includes cyberbullying, online harassment, non-consensual sharing of images, digital stalking, impersonation, threats, and the constant invasion of privacy. The damage is not virtual. It is real, painful, and dangerous.”

    “Digital violence leaves deep emotional scars, destroys confidence, and in many cases,follows victims into their physical lives. It may happen online, but the fear, anxiety, and trauma are felt offline.”

    “For many survivors, their phones—tools meant to empower—have become sources of intimidation and control.” he submitted.

    The Vice Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon Ambibola Ike, who was the special guest of honor, stated that the surge in online abuse was even more worrying than traditional forms of gender-based violence.

    Ambibola who was represented by her Personal Assistant Mrs Faith noted that digital violence has risen by over 45%, exposing young girls to a new spectrum of harm that no longer ends when the physical assault stops.

    A young girl or woman today is exposed not only to physical harm, but also to cyber bullying, humiliation, blackmail, and threats that linger forever on the internet. These are not abstract concerns, they are lived experiences of real people,” she stated.

    The Vice Chairman added that digital platforms, once seen as tools for empowerment, have increasingly become battlegrounds where women and girls face relentless attacks that follow them into their homes, workplaces, and private spaces.

    She thanked the organizers for coming out to enlightening the women especially the girls on what to do so as to combat the menace, stating that the elimination of violence against women,whether physical,emotional, or digital. Online abuse is not “less serious.” It is not “just words.” It is a violation of dignity and a threat to safety.

    Other guest who gave their goodwill message at the event include the Councilor representing Ailegun ward,Hon Ifatumise Adedoyin Adefioye who was represented by Mrs DaSilva,the Councilor representing Oke Afa ward,Hon Rukayat Olabisi who was represented by Comrade Abdulramah Alugo, Deputy Co-ordinator NYCN,Engr Alimiran Sunday.

    The Secretary Community Development Committee, Ejigbo LCDA, Barrister Ambibola Olawale in her goodwill message called for stronger collective action to tackle digital violence against women and girls, warning that digital abuse targeting women and girls is rising sharply and should be treated with the same seriousness as physical violence.

    The CDC Secretary warned that violence against women and girls remains a major human rights concern and called on the public to report abuse, challenge harmful cultural norms, and support efforts to create respectful environments at home, at work and online.

    A member of the NGO, Hassan Adijat, thanked the organizers for the initiative and appealed to the government to move “from awareness to action” and work towards a society founded on dignity, safety, and equality for all.

    The retreat held on Wednesday 10, December 2025, with the theme “Budget of Sustainability”, brought together stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for prudent resource management and sustainable development.

    Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government,Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has commissioned the newly constructed Aiyemojuba Street in Onipetesi, marking a significant milestone in his 100 Working Days in Office.

    The road, equipped with modern solar-powered street lights, was officially opened by Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, MHR, Ikeja Federal Constituency, represented by APC Ikeja LGA Chairman, Alhaji Adekunle Dally-Adeokun.

    This project reflects the AKOD-led administration’s commitment to quality roads, improved community living, and sustainable development.

    The newly constructed Aiyemojuba Street comes fully equipped with modern solar-powered street lights, providing enhanced security, visibility, and improved night-time mobility for residents.

    These street lights were generously facilitated by Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, whose continuous support for infrastructural development in Ikeja remains commendable.

    The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Comrade Akeem Dauda(AKOD)on Monday 8, November 2025 celebrated his 100 days in office with impactful programs and showcasing youths development.

    Investigator news reports that the day’s activities began with Ikeja Local Government’s One Day Chairman, Miss Zainab Ismail, a winner of the 2025 Ikeja Spelling Bee Competition from St Peters Nursery and Primary school Alausa who commissioned a rehabilitated road and 12 renovated classrooms with modern facilities, marking a significant milestone in the AKOD-led administration’s 100 working days in office.

    Miss Zainab who began her activities from the Executive Chairman’s office in company with the One Day Vice Chairman Miss Kentura Irebor and the One Day leader of the house commissioned the newly rehabilitated Morenike Close, marking a significant infrastructural upgrade within the community.

     

    Thereafter she proceeded to her school where she was well received by her friends, classmates,teachers and management of St Peters Nursery and Primary school.

    Addressing the pupils,Miss Zainab stated that “hardwork and dedication pays”as it is the only key to success. She encouraged the pupils not to disturbed with the situation of the country but put their trust in God and always pray for their parents.

    While acknowledging the management, teachers especially her mentor(her teacher) who drilled her in ensuring that she comes out in flying colors,she thanked the Executive Chairman, Comrade Dauda for the opportunity giving to her.

    She further presided over the commissioning of 12 renovated blocks of classrooms, now furnished with modern desks, chairs, and enhanced learning materials with Bore Hole.,aligning with the administration’s goal of improving learning conditions for Ikeja pupils.

    Comrade Dauda in his address, encouraged the children to always respect their teachers,pay attention to their studies and emulate Miss Zainab,the winner of the 2025 Spelling Bee competition.

    He went ahead to announce that next year competition will go along with a brand new laptop aside the One Day Chairman and cash award.

    Investigator news gathered that the day also featured a highly successful free medical outreach for 200 senior citizens, which provided free tests, drugs, medical kits, and special cash support.

    Also free sugar test, blood pressure test, eye screening with reading glasses, dental check, drugs and lots more were put in place for people to benefit from them.

    Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen applauded and prayed for the chairman for recognizing the retires and elderly .

    Mr Ibechieozo said” I want to say a big thank you to the Executive Chairman Comrade Dauda for recognizing the retires and elderly in his line of program,I never knew I would be called upon and with this free medical check up giving to me today,it has given me the need to always check my health status ”

    Speaking with newsmen after the activities,AKOD stated that the day’s activities are a clear demonstration of his I.K.E.J.A Agenda; which is the master blueprint of his administration and a testament to resolve in delivering a better days promised during the campaign.

    AKOD expressed his words of gratitude to tax payers and the people of Ikeja Local Government for their unrelenting support he has been receiving from them.

    He also promised to do more by putting in place things that will make life easy for everyone”Under the health,we believed that our retires and our leaders need to be celebrated especially those who have served this country meritoriously by giving them free medical outreach and also support them with cash grant ”

    On the issue of the One Day Chairman,AKOD said,” I have always had this desire because I am a product of the indigent and from that background I believe that the only way to support this children is by celebrating them and we decided to award them after the spelling bee competition with their various positions and cash award ”

    Speaking further,the Council boss highlighted some of the achievements recorded by his administration which include 4 renovated roads, schools, back to school program,purchase of land for health center in Alawori in Ikeja and construction of a bridge.

    “If we can be able to do all this within our 100 days in office,by the grace of God and with the support of the people,we will be to able to achieve more within our 200 days in office and above”he said.

    Lending her voice,the Council Manager,Mrrs Juliana Taiwo Odubeko stated that the essence of the event was to celebrate the children in Ikeja local government as the chairman has done excellently well with the support from staff and management of Ikeja local government.

    ” Hon Dauda has done well within his first 3months as he has constructed 4 roads, renovation of schools and employment of security guards in all the facilities in Ikeja.”

    She went further to encourage the Children to always face their studies squarely so that they can excel in everything they do.

    The Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Ikeja local government Alhaji Dally Adeokun; applauded the council chairman for putting a magnificent road infrastructure, while encouraging the children to always read their books, noting that the one day chairman celebration  symbolizes the administration’s dedication to raising confident, visionary young leaders

    The activities which will continue on Tuesday with more project commissioning and impactful engagements for the people of Ikeja and it will end with an empowerment program on Wednesday 10, November 2025 at the council secretariat.

Abisola Omisore; the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Taiwo Odubeko, who led the management team; all six councillors led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa (ORA); the APC Ikeja LGA Chairman, Alhaji Dally Adeokun; Engr. Kehinde Akinola; Chief Ologunde; Apostle Olowoporoku; parents of the children and other party stalwarts and community leaders.

    Highlight of the event was presentation of cash award to One Day Chairman,Voice Chairman and One Day leader of the house respectively.
