    The Councilor representing Ailegun Ward in Ejigbo LCDA,Hon Ifatumise  Adedoyin Adefioye, has kicked off year 2025 edition of Ailegun Football Youth Tournament in style.

    The Tournament which commenced on Sunday 7, November 2025,was held at the back of Little land school,Pink Street,Ejigbo and would end on Sunday 14, November 2025.

    Hon Ifatumise Adefioye,accompanied by the Ward Chairman, Prince Babatunde Adefioye,political leaders and other notable personalities in Ailegun ward declared open the tournament and also performed the ceremonial kicked off the ball, to signal the formal commencement of the football competition.

    The football teams, participating in the fiesta, representing the communities in Ailegun ward were gallantly showcased at the ceremony

    The Councilor, while welcoming people into the venue expressed his delight to God for giving the grace to achieve the programme.She as well appreciated the crowd for being part of the tournament despite the rainfall, assuring that the tournament will be classy and entertaining event like no other one.

    Adefioye expressed overwhelming joy over the commencement of the Football Cup Fiesta and said it was in commemoration of her 100 days in office and realization of one of her campaign promises to the youths of the area.

    She added that the event will pave way not only for bonding and identifying winners at the end, but also give a chance to showcase the individual and collective talents of the participants and teaches us to work in harmony.

    “The football tournament is indeed a component of one of our programs as we promised to bring about notable youth development initiatives and empowerment through my effort and that of the Executive Chairman. It gives me great satisfaction that today, as your Councilor,we are walking the talk.

    “Apart from the peace, unity, togetherness and entertainment value of sporting activities such as football tournaments, we cannot overemphasize the place of Sports development in the empowerment of our teeming youths.

    Hon Adedoyin reiterated that, “the event will serve as another way to engage and empower the youths who are talented, motivated and committed to being good Ambassadors of our dear Local Government.”

    She further, applauded the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA,Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT)for trying to accommodate the youths in everything he does, noting that the football tournament will go a long way in unifying the youths of the Ailegun Ward.

    “We want to unite the youths through sports because football attracts unity and togetherness. Also for the youths to know that the government is with them and he is carrying everyone along and we over here we are using this so as to mark our 100 days in office as well as that of the Executive Chairman.”

    Speaking with newsmen,a member of the Local Organizing Committee,Comrade Godwin Oyem Aka Olurun Oba commended the Councilor representing Ailegun ward,Hon Ifatumise Adefioye for giving the youths of Ailegun ward a voice, noting that the competition which is a means of catching them young in the area of sports will go a long way in unifying the youths of Ailegun Ward.

    ” The essence of the event is all about bringing the youths of Ailegun ward together so as to have a better future ahead.” he said

    Lending his voice, the Ward Chairman, Prince Babatunde Adefioye noted that the youth football tournament is a good idea and a fantastic beginning for the Councilor representing Ailegun ward.

    He said,”Hon Ifatumise Adedoyin has done well especially in her first 100 days in office as she has been able to bring the youths together through this football tournament and it will also expose the youths to the outside world ”

    Prince Babatunde went further to urge other councilors to emulate the Councilor representing Ailegun ward in coming up programs that will affect the youths positively.

    When newsmen spoke with Hon Ifatumise Adedoyin Adefioye,she opined that the 1st Place winner of the tournament would go home with a cash prize of Two Hundred Thousand (200,000)while the 2nd place and third place winners would be given One Hundred Thousand N100, 000) and Fifty Thousand Naira (50,000) respectively.

    The young and vibrant Councilor urge the participating to maintain peace and avoid any form of violence throughout the period of this competition.

    “We cannot achieve anything in an atmosphere of rancour, rather peace and tranquility is veritable for success to be accomplished.”

    “Let me again, admonish the players, against the use of enhancement drugs or any form of substance, geared towards enhancement of your performance throughout the period of the tournament. God has endowed us with natural stamina and skills and the match officials are out to identify these natural endowments, as major attributes for the talent hunt in this competition,”

    While commending the Local Organizing Committee headed by Mr Abdulramah for the impressive planning of the sporting event, Hon Ifatumise charged match officials to be fair, transparent and impartial in their judgements, even as he warned against favoritism and nepotism.

    The opening match was played between Adefioye FC and Sir Cosmas FC which was won by Sir Cosmos FC by 2 goals to 1(penalty) after a 1-1  draw.

    During the match,Sir Cosmas FC drew the first blood in the 8mins of the match through number 5 and Adefioye FC came back in the 27 mins with an equalizer through jersey number 55.

    Hon Seyi Jakande, the Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, has been installed as Grand Patron of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye chapter on Saturday, December 6,2025.

    The installation took place during CAN’s 2025 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Ilupeju.

    The star-studded ceremony, themed “The Rising Star” (Matthew 2:9), also featured the launch of CAN’s 2026 calendar.

    In his acceptance speech, Jakande pledged to serve as “a bridge and supporter for all,” promising to strengthen interdenominational collaboration for the common good.

    Investigator news reports that Jakande’s commitment to unity was further demonstrated as he attended the Annual Maolid Nobiyy celebration, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), alongside the Isobatul Fathiu Yeqeen Society of Nigeria (ISFATY).

    In a statement, Aare TAT described the Awori as a people who have shaped the history and identity of Lagos, and praised their contributions to the community’s growth and development.

    He praised the Awori people’s commitment to harmony, community-building, and shared destiny, noting that their legacy continues to inspire governance and shape the future of Ejigbo.

    The Lagos State Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, has commended the South-West Arewa Community Renewed Hope Agenda for Asiwaju 2027 for their self-sponsored public engagement initiatives.

    The group, led by Director-General Alhaji Shehu Usman Jibrin ‘Sampam’, paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos House, Alausa, where Ayinde expressed appreciation for their efforts in enhancing civic awareness and strengthening community relations.

    Investigator news reports that the group’s recent summit, held at Ndubuisi Kanu Park, Alausa, on November 20, 2025, was a milestone gathering that showcased key developmental achievements of the Lagos State Government and deepened public interest in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

    In his speech,the Director-General Alhaji Shehu Usman Jibrin ‘Sampam’ thanked the Chief of Staff for his long-standing support and highlighted the positive impact of the Lagos State Government’s openness to community-based collaborations.

    According to him, the summit enhanced unity among Arewa residents across South-West states and strengthened the group’s communication channels and community integration efforts.

    He urged the DG to continue his good work, adding that the Arewa community’s reputation for integrity, loyalty and cooperation has consistently contributed to longstanding harmony and mutual respect between Arewa residents and their South-West hosts.

    The Chief of Staff pledged continued support from the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu administration, assuring that the government values peaceful, lawful, and inclusive civic sensitization efforts.

    He also acknowledged the contributions of ace Hausa broadcaster Ibrahim Jagaba, whose weekly radio programmes highlight Lagos State Government achievements.

    The visit concluded with the formal presentation of the group’s ABAT-themed cap and T-shirt to Mr. Ayinde, symbolising appreciation for his reception and the administration’s sustained partnership.

    The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has presented a budget of N12,576,677,393.00 for the 2026 fiscal year to the Legislative Council.

    The budget breakdown includes N5,651,895,020 for recurrent expenditure and N6,009,614,665.46 for capital expenditure.

    Ashimi emphasized the importance of synergy between the Executive and Legislature to drive growth and development in Somolu.

    “Standing before the Councillors inside the Legislative Chamber is like home coming to me,I was once a Councillor,we all have a perfect working relationships,many,if not all of us , myself,Vice Chairman,Leader of the House and other Councillors were born,bread,trained,schooled and are living in Somolu,the Past relationship and the current relationship should naturally translate to a synergy between the Executive and the Legislature, which will ultimately forster growth and development to the good people of Somolu Local Government.”he said

    He highlighted the administration’s achievements, including the commissioning of the Ultra Modern Council Secretariat, Senator Bayo Osinowo Legislative building, Fire Service Station, and Police Post.

    “We know what the people of Somolu demand from us,We have listened to the Stakeholders.Let our relationship translate to positive actions immediately.”

    We assumed office on 27th July,2025, the transition was very smooth.We immediately hit the ground running without any delay.

    You will recall that we inherited this current Budget.There is no doubt that it yielded positive results to the residents such as the Commissioning of the Ultra Modern Council Secretariat named after the First Lady of Nigeria Her Excellency Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu OON,the Senator Bayo Osinowo Legislative building,The Fire Service Station and the Police Post.”

    “Several other projects enjoyed the attention of the immediate past administration.All the on- going projects and the new ones will be completed if this Appropriation bill is given expeditious attention.”

    “The people who voted for us are yearning for actions on project execution on Road construction in order to reduce traffic time,elongate the lifespan of our Vehicles, increase the Value of our Properties, enhance security and promote the Social wellbeing of our people, Health Care,Clean Environments,Sport Development,Youth empowerment etc.”

    “The new and Previous roads will be provided with Solar Powered Street Lights .Our Public Institutions such as Schools, Primary Healthcare Centres will be provided with Solar Powered Lights.”he stated

    Investigator news reports that the budget aims to address pressing issues such as road construction, healthcare, clean environment, sports development, and youth empowerment.

    The administration plans to install solar-powered street lights on new and existing roads and provide solar-powered lights for public institutions like schools and healthcare centers.

    The Leader of the House Hon James Tunde Oyeyiola assured the executive Chairman that the Appropriation bill will be carefully Scrutinized to ensure that resources are fairly and equitably distributed amongst Departments and Units in order to ensure that the residents enjoy full dividends of democracy.

    The Ikeja Local Government has announced a ban on scavenging, street trading, cart pushing, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in the area, effective January 1, 2026.

    The move is aimed at restoring order, strengthening security, and enhancing the livability of Ikeja, the capital city of Lagos State.

    In a press conference,that had in attendance the Heads of all Security Agencies operating within Ikeja, including the Nigeria Police, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Civil Defence, DSS, Immigration, KAI and National Orientation Agency.

    Also present were the CDC Chairman, Iyaloja of Ikeja, heads of religious bodies, community leaders, youth representatives, market associations, and other key stakeholders.

    The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), stated that the ban is part of efforts to promote safety, orderliness, and sustainable development in the community.

    He emphasized that only licensed and traceable waste operators will be permitted to operate, and that street trading will be restricted to designated markets.

    The ban also targets cart pushers, who have been linked to illegal dumping of refuse and nighttime security breaches.

    The council will introduce a more structured waste disposal system to replace cart pushing.

    Additionally, Comrade Dauda stated that the council will adopt a community-driven approach to end SGBV and ensure protection for women, children, and vulnerable persons.

    According to him,the council will collaborate with security agencies to facilitate rapid response, prosecution support, and survivor-centered interventions.

    The Chairman reiterated that enforcement begins January 1st, 2026, with joint operations involving all security agencies and relevant government units.

    He appealed for full compliance, cooperation, and support from residents, market leaders, religious institutions, transport unions, and the general public.

    Dauda assured the people of Ikeja that these measures are not punitive but are designed to promote safety, orderliness, and the sustainable development of the community.

    “We owe our people a cleaner, safer and more organized Ikeja. This administration will not compromise on security and public safety.”

    “January 1st marks the beginning of strict enforcement, and we call on everyone to support this renewed commitment to a better Ikeja,” the Chairman declared

    Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area has emerged as the top-performing council in Lagos State, according to the Grassroots News appraisal.

    This remarkable achievement is attributed to the transformative leadership of Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, who has been at the helm since July 2025.

    The appraisal evaluated councils based on three key criteria: Effective Leadership, Speed, and Management Skills. Kareem’s administration excelled in these areas, solidifying Oto-Awori LCDA’s position as the number one ranked council.

    Investigator news reports that under Hon kareem’s leadership, the council has made significant strides in various sectors.

    In infrastructure development, notable projects such as the Public toilet in Shibiri, Jesuwame-Igbonla and Mosholashi-Baale roads, as well as the Ese-Ofin walkway road, have been completed, improving connectivity and accessibility within the community.

    The education sector has also seen notable improvements, with the distribution of exercise books to schoolchildren and encouraging students and pupils in leadership positions as one day chairman and vice chairman, inauguration of a task force on environmental sanitation and traffic management, and construction of a 12-classroom storey building at Ilemba-Awori, enhancing the learning environment for students.

    In healthcare, Abiodun’s administration has organized a free medical outreach program, offering comprehensive healthcare services to residents and promoting wellness within the community.

    The council has also donated vehicles to divisional police stations in the council area, ensuring a safer environment for residents.

    Investigator news also gathered that the council has demonstrated its commitment to legislative independence with the construction of a modern two-storey legislative building, symbolizing good governance and effective representation.

    Additionally, the administration has launched the ₦5 million Women Development Initiative (WDI) cooperative support, aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and promoting economic growth.

    Abiodun’s leadership have received accolades from prominent stakeholders, including Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, APC Lagos State Chairman; Hon. Kayode Robert (Bibiire), Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development;

    The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, has emphasized the crucial role of Nigerian youths in shaping the country’s future, urging them to take ownership of their responsibilities and contribute to national development.

    Speaking at the 2nd Annual Citizen-Focused Governance Dialogue, Dauda stressed that true progress is driven by citizens who prioritize service and commitment to their communities, rather than personal gains.

    Drawing from his personal journey in leadership and public service, he emphasized that true development is driven by citizens who are committed to contributing their quota to national progress without prioritizing immediate personal gains.

    According to him, “Young people must understand that nationhood thrives when citizens choose consistent service over selfish expectations. Personal benefits will naturally flow from selfless commitment to humanity and community development.”

    He encouraged the youth to remain focused despite prevailing national challenges, stressing that resilience, patriotism, and discipline remain the strongest pillars of growth, both for individuals and for the nation.

    Investigator news reports that the dialogue, organized by The Nigerian Factor in collaboration with ipComm and Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, brought together civic leaders, policy thinkers, and governance advocates to discuss ways to improve citizen engagement in governance.

    The political structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aigbaka Ward in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State,suffered a major setback recently as key stakeholders dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the outstanding performance of Aare Tahoeed Adebayo Taiwo, Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA and Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu. 

    A former PDP Woman leader in the ward led 20 other women and their supporters into the APC in what many described as a significant blow to the opposition.

    Speaking at the ward meeting held at Ile Iwe Primary School on Tuesday 2, November 2025,the woman leader said she was motivated by the achievements of Aare TAT within his 100 days in office which have continued to attract support across the local government

    “I cannot campaign against the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 because of what Aare TAT has done since his assumption into office,he has transformed Ejigbo in terms of road infrastructure, therefore I led other women and my supporters into the party and we  would all support him and President Tinubu to continue beyond 2027,” she stated.

    “Aare TAT and President Tinubu has turned around the fortunes of the local government and that of the country respectively and he is consolidating on the good legacies of former Council boss,Hon Obe. I cannot remain in the PDP,I have decided to move to the Progressive family to contribute my quota to the development of our dear local government under the leadership of the Aare Taiwo Adebayo Taiwo “she said.

    The ceremony was witnessed by party stalwart and members of the party including the LGA Publicity Secretary Dr Odusanya, Councillor representing Aigbaika ward, Hon Taiwo Hassan.

    Others are Hon Sodiq Adebisi,Hon Osinowo,Hon Hammed,Mrs Oladiti,Mrs Olukosi Toyin,Hon Alfred Olaris,Hon Hamzat,Hon Michael Afolabi,Mrs Saladueen Titilayo and Mr Olabiran Oladayo.

    The Councilor representing Aigbaika ward,Hon Taiwo thanked the new members for their faith in the All Progressives Congress and the administration of Aare TAT saying the party is ready to accommodate all lagosians.

    “I thank the party leadership for their hard work over the years. In this Ward, the All Progressives Congress has never lost any election. It shows that our people believe in the party and we are the only Ward in the entire Ejigbo LCDA with this enviable record.

    “With the coming of these heavyweights, we will even be stronger and we won’t be satisfied until everyone in Aigbaka Ward belongs to the All Progressives Congress. We are not selfish, we are only progressive in our thinking.

     

    “The Council boss is not saying anything and the opposition is collapsing in the local government.He must have learnt this from his political father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His performance is killing the opposition as all Ejigbo residents are rallying behind his leadership,” he said.

    The Ward Chairman,Mr R.A.Ibikunle thanked the decamped members for having faith in the All Progressive Congress while assuring them that they would all be accommodated in every thing they do.

    He highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the current administration of Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo which include road infrastructure, solar electrification, desilting of the drainage, empowerment and many more. He used the occasion to invite them to the 100 days ceremony of the Executive Chairman.

    The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has praised the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for her tireless efforts to combat gender-based violence in the state.

    AKOD made this commendation while attending the official commissioning and handover ceremony of the newly upgraded Lagos State Police Command Gender Unit, located beside Grange School, Harold Shodipo Crescent, Ikeja.

    The upgraded facility is expected to enhance timely intervention, victim support, and coordinated justice delivery.

    AKOD praised the First Lady for her efforts to protect vulnerable groups and strengthen the fight against gender-based violence.

    He emphasized the importance of collaboration between government institutions, security agencies, and community leaders in building a safe and just society.

    The Council boss noted that the First Lady’s vision and leadership have been instrumental in promoting a safe and just society, and urged all stakeholders to work together to protect vulnerable groups and promote a culture of respect and dignity for all.

    Comrade Dauda also commended the Lagos State Police Command for their efforts in combating gender-based violence and promoting the rights of vulnerable groups.

    Investigator news reports that the ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Her Excellency Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh Moshood.
