    The prayer session, which is a regular feature of AKOD’s administration, brought together faith leaders and government officials to seek God’s guidance and intervention for Nigeria, Lagos State, and the Ikeja community.

    In a bid to ensure safer and smoother roads for residents ahead of festive season, Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA,Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT) has kicked off a major road maintenance and rehabilitation drive in Ejigbo LCDA.

    The initiative, which began on Saturday, November 29, 2025, is part of TAT’s efforts to provide a more accessible and comfortable travel experience for commuters during the festive season.

    Investigator news reports that the first phase of the project covers key roads, including Fadu Avenue Road, Ile-Iwe Road, Ejigbo Sheik Niyyass Junction, Ejigbo-Ikotun-Egbe Road, Canoe Road, Ilamoshe Dauda Iloh Road, and Lafenwa Road.

    This proactive move is expected to improve the overall travel experience for commuters and residents, making it easier for them to move around during the festive period.

    The road maintenance project is a welcome relief for residents of Ejigbo, who have long suffered the consequences of poor road infrastructure.

    The library, a flagship project of the Rachisols Foundation, was officially unveiled on Saturday, November 29, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of educational excellence and community progress.

    Hon. Jakande who was represented by his Vice Chairman Hon. Niyi Awodogan, emphasized the importance of accessible learning spaces in shaping a prosperous community, stating that the renovated library is a sanctuary for the mind, a catalyst for innovation, and a cornerstone for community growth.

    “Today is not just about reopening a library; it is about reopening the doors of opportunity for our children, our youth, and every resident of Ilupeju,” Hon. Jakande stated.

    The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has distributed food palliative to 2000 residents, urging them to remain hopeful about the greatness of Nigeria.

    Ashimi made this appeal during the 3rd edition of the Renewed Hope Food Palliatives, which targeted the aged, widows, and vulnerable members of the society held on Thursday, 27th November 2025.

    Speaking during the event,Hon.Ashimi, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people, while describing the palliative programme as part of the local government’s alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to ensure that no Nigerian is left behind.

    He expressed gratitude that the programme had been well-received, with residents showing enthusiasm and joy during the distribution.

    “I have watched with kin interest the reactions of the residents anytime we called for Palliative distribution ,the joy is always overwhelming,hence the need to continue to sustain it and increase it from 1000 to 2000 beneficiaries.”

    “We understand the pressures our people are facing, and it is our responsibility as a government to provide support where it is needed most,”He said.

    Hon Ashimi expressed mixed feelings about the event, citing the joy of distributing food items to 2000 beneficiaries, but also mourning the loss of a Baale who was recently presented a vehicle by the local government.

    ” I have a mix feelings about today’s event,I am happy that people will go home with rice,beans,garri and other raw food items but I am sad that one of the Baales we presented a Vehicle last month has gone to be with the Lord.”

    “Let us remember the Baale of Igbari Akoka High Chief Adisa Jinadu and members of his family in our Prayers.”he stated

    He further emphasize the importance of cleanliness as residents have formed the habits of dumping refuse at illegal locations.

    “This is totally unacceptable.Any one caught dumping refuse along Bajulaiye/ Fola Agoro road or anywhere for that matter will be charged to Court.”

    “PSPs have been designated to streets and they are working assiduously to serve the residents,why dump refuse on the roads, streets and even Bus stops or inside the Canal!”

    Ashimi equally advised the aged to patronise the Primary Healthcare Centre closest to them in order to know their diabetes and hypertension Status.

    “Check your health status, the Primary Healthcare Centres are meant to keep you healthy.”he reaffirmed.

    Investigator news reports that community leaders, market women, youth representatives, and civil society groups were present to monitor the exercise and commended the transparent process adopted by the local government.

    A representative of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Inuolajin Tella, applauded the initiative, describing it as “timely and impactful.”

    Several beneficiaries could not hide their excitement as they left with their food packages.

    For Mrs Balikis Oyelade, a widow from Ward C,she expressed gratitude, saying the palliative would go a long way in supporting her household.

    Another beneficiary, Mr Sunday Adewunmi, thanked the chairman for “always prioritising the needs of the people.”

    Investigator news gathered that the Renewed Hope Palliative Distribution is expected to continue across various communities in Somolu in the coming weeks, as the local government intensifies efforts to cushion the effects of rising living costs.

    The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Jakande,has been formally recognized as the best-performing local government chairman in Nigeria by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

    The announcement was made on Sunday, November 23rd, during a strategic meeting between Hon. Jakande and the Forum of 36 States Chairmen of the NYCN, led by its National Chairman, at the council secretariat in Lagos.

    The youth leaders, representing millions of young Nigerians across all states, unanimously affirmed Jakande’s exceptional performance in grassroots governance, citing his transformative projects, inclusive governance style, and commitment to youth empowerment and welfare.

    Comrade Ibrahim Adigun Olalekan, speaking on behalf of the forum, stated that the endorsement was the product of a nationwide assessment of local government administration.

    “After careful monitoring and evaluation of governance at the grassroots level across the federation, we have found in Hon. Seyi Jakande a model of what leadership should be,”

    Walking has been identified medically and socially as the best, least expensive and most broadly acceptable form of physical activities as it is rarely associated with any injury and easily adopted by people of all ages.

    With an understanding of the importance of healthy living and community bonding,Hon. Seyi Jakande, the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has kicked off the 4th edition of the Sport Fiesta with a walkathon, themed “Awareness Road Walk for Sustainable Fitness” on Saturday 22, November 2025.

    The event which started from the council premises is aimed to promote youth development, grassroots empowerment, and sustainable community building through sports.

    The exercise witnessed enthusiastic participation with a large turnout of both young and old. While the elderly merely walked within their strides to keep up with the procession, the young persons took a delight in outpacing themselves with some jogging.

    Investigator news reports that the exercise started from the council premises to Town Planning Way, Industrial Avenue, Bishop Street, Coker Road, Ilupeju Traffic Light, Oyewole Street, Majolate/Kayode Street, Ogunmokun Bridge, Abolade Street, Abiodun Street, Post Office Road, Agege Motor Road, Muibi Street, ending at Ayatunga Street.

    Speaking after the walk fitness,Hon Jakande stated that emphasised the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being to ensure the level of fitness of the participants in the season 4 edition of the sports fiesta and to encourage daily exercise to the people of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye so as to keep their body healthy.

    “Our health is the bedrock of our performance. This walk exercise not only enhances our physical fitness but also strengthens bonding as a community.It a process where all the participants participates in this exercise so as to ensure their level of fitness and encourage in daily exercise to keep their body healthy ” he said.

    Jakande noted that walking helps improve immunity and physical health, noting that Odi Olowo/ Ojuwoye LCDA is united in sports as it encourages unity and peace to the people of the community. He urged youths to participate, showcasing their passion, discipline, and unity.

    “Sports is a means where you connect everyone together because sports has one language, which is unity and it brings everyone together” he stated.

    The Community Development Committee chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye, Otunba Adebayo Adekunle applauded the chairman for sustaining the sports fiesta as the exercise promotes unity and brings governance closer to the people.

    The Chairman who is over 70 years of age stated that he decided to embark on the walk exercise because it will keep him in shape, while advising other individuals to always have regular exercise so as to avoid being ageing.

    One of the information officers,Miss Yetunde Akinyemi stated that this year’s event would be a fantastic one as the Chairman inculcated special children/people living with disabilities into this year’s sports fiesta.

    Yetunde went further to state that the event which would simultaneously in the nine wards would produce one each for each game to compete at the local government level.

    “This year’s event is quite unique and different because people living with disabilities are part of this year’s program.

    “Also,we are going to have preliminaries in all the ward unlike the previous one where everyone assembled at the local government.At the end of the preliminary stage,each ward would give us a representative to view at the local government level”she stated.

    She encouraged all participants to put in their best so as to win the prize”it is not just a game but it is going to be scouting for talents and individuals to discover their skills.” She submitted.

    Lending his voice,the Vice President, National Association of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Tertiary Students (NAOTS), Comrade Collins Oladipupo appreciated Hon Seyi Jakande for continuing the sports fiesta saying that it means a lot to the youths because it shows inclusiveness and awareness of the local government about the youths.

    He noted that the event would bring about peace, togetherness and ensure that the youths of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye erase their mindset away from drugs and other social vices.

    The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Lawal Jakande, has unveiled the 4th edition of the Sport Fiesta, themed “Step to Sustainability”.

    The event, scheduled to take place in the last month of the year, aims to promote youth development, grassroots empowerment, and sustainable community building through sports.

    Addressing a press conference,Jakande stated that the Sport Fiesta will feature 5-a-side soccer, boxing, draught, table tennis, 52 card game, video game, and snooker, with a grand prize of ₦25 million.

    According to him,the competition will be conducted in each of the nine wards, with local qualifiers identifying outstanding talents for the LCDA grand finale.

    “We have gathered to officially unveil the 4th Edition of our annual Sport Fiesta, which highlight its new structure,announce the grand prize, and outline how this initiative ties into our broader vision of empowering youths, strengthening community unity and promoting sustainable talent development and other activities that will commence in the last month of the year.”

    Jakande emphasized that the event is not just about sports, but about building a future where youths have platforms to grow, excel, and succeed. He urged youths to participate, showcasing their passion, discipline, and unity.

Since I assumed office on 28 July,our administration has worked tirelessly to strengthen the foundations of growth and deliver impactful programs across all wards.”he said

    The Chairman opined that the LCDA has also lined up other activities, including a subsidized sale of chicken, quiz, and debate, and bursary for indigenous tertiary students with good CGPA.

    Hon Jakande went further to highlight some of the achievements recorded by his administration in terms of infrastructure, health, education, and youth empowerment, including the rehabilitation of roads, construction of a primary healthcare centre, and introduction of a back-to-school initiative.
