    The Kogi State Government has announced the recovery of a massive cache of arms and ammunition from criminal hideouts, vowing to intensify efforts to combat insecurity in the state.

     

    Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Lokoja, stating that the operation was carried out by security agencies in coordination with the state government.

    According to the Governor,the recovered arms include 24 AK-47 rifles, 23 pump-action rifles, one Tavor rifle, one FN rifle, four Barrett pistols, four Browning rifles, 42 magazines, 520 rounds of GPMG 7.62 ammunition, as well as large quantities of AK-47 ammunition and cartridges for pump-action and Barrett pistols,noting that the renewed and aggressive crackdown on criminal elements was further galvanized after his recent meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who charged him to intensify security efforts rather than seek accolades.

    “When I met Mr. President, I expected commendation, but he told me to go back and do more for my people. That statement re-energised me,” the governor said.

    “We immediately regrouped, met with the security agencies, harmonised our strategies, and acted decisively on credible intelligence.”

    Ododo noted that security operatives executed a coordinated overnight operation that uncovered a major criminal enclave where a significant stockpile of weapons was concealed.

    Although no arrests were made during the raid, Governor Ododo described the recovery of the arms as a major and strategic breakthrough in the fight against crime.

    He attributed the success to the joint effort of security agencies and credible intelligence, and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and motivation, expressing his deep appreciation to the Director-General of the Department of State Services, the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, and the leadership of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their steadfast cooperation.

    “Kogi State is fully alert. The DSS, the police, the military, the navy, and all other security agencies are working relentlessly, day and night,” he declared.

    “We’ll never bow to criminals, and we’ll never negotiate with them.”

     

    He urged residents to provide timely and accurate information to security agencies and assured them of the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, appealing to the citizens not to panic and assuring them that the situation is under control and advising residents to go about their lawful businesses without fear.

    The Kogi State Government has announced the rescue of 21 children, aged 6-17, intercepted while being trafficked into the state.

    The National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies foiled the operation in Yagba East.

    Investigator news reports that security operatives in Kogi State intercepted a truck carrying 21 children, aged 6-17, suspected to be victims of child trafficking.

    Several suspects were arrested, including individuals claiming the children were for an “Islamic school.”

    The rescued children are receiving support, and investigations are ongoing. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the Ministry of Women Affairs to care for the victims.

    In a press statement on Tuesday 9, November by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communications, reads, “The Kogi State Government wishes to inform the public of the successful interception of a group of under-aged children trafficked into the State, in what is suspected to be a covert recruitment attempt for banditry training.

    “At about 1500hrs on December 5, 2025, eagle-eyed security operatives of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Yagba Area Command in collaboration with other security agencies in Isanlu, acting on credible intelligence from community hunters, intercepted a truck conveying 21 children aged between 6 and 17 years into Kogi State.

    “Initial investigations revealed that the children had been moved from different northern states under suspicious circumstances by adults who could not provide legitimate justification for their movement.”

    “Several suspects linked to the trafficking operation have been arrested, including individuals who claimed they were transporting the children to establish an informal “Islamic school” within Yagba East.

    “Further arrests were made as security operatives intensified surveillance within the area, uncovering additional persons allegedly connected to the movement of the minors. Some of the suspects were also found with items raising significant security concerns.”

    “The rescued children have since been transferred to the State Command of the NSCDC in Lokoja for detailed investigation and proper profiling of all persons involved.”

    “His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, has directed the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to take full custody of the underaged victims, ensure their wellbeing, and provide the necessary psychosocial support pending the conclusion of investigations.”

    “Upon completion of profiling and verification, the children will be handed over to their respective State Governments for further investigation and eventual reintegration with their families.”

    “Meanwhile, all individuals found culpable in this trafficking operation will be prosecuted in line with Kogi State’s Child Trafficking and Child Rights Protection Laws.”

    “The Kogi State Government reiterates its uncompromising stance against child trafficking, criminal infiltration, and any form of security threat.

    Bandits have struck the Isapa community of Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting 11 residents. 

    The gunmen, numbering more than 20, stormed the community with a large herd of cattle on Monday, firing shots indiscriminately.

    An elderly woman was reportedly hit by a stray bullet during the incident.

    Speaking with newsmen,a community leader, who spoke under anonymity confirmed the incident.

    He said that 11 people were abducted, with seven victims belonging to the same family. The kidnapped victims include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children.

    Investigator news reports that identities of the abducted individuals have been identified as: Talatu Kabiru (Female, 20), Magaji (Male, 6), Kande (Female, 5), Hadiza (Female, 10), Mariam (Female, 6)

    Others included ‎Saima (Female, 5), a housewife, Habibat, a housewife, Fatima Yusufu, a pregnant woman, Sarah Sunday (Female, 22), Lami Fidelis (Female, 23, nursing mother), and Haja Na Allah (Nursing mother).

    Eyewitness accounts had it that the attackers moved through parts of the town, leaving bullet holes in walls and doors.

    Expended AK-47 shells were found scattered across the community after the gunmen fled. ‎Police authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

    The latest attack on the Isapa community comes about two weeks after gunmen struck the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, an area in the same LGA.

    They kidnapped 38 members of the church, while others reportedly died during the assault. However, the abductees have been released.

    It was reported how panic and tears swept through CAC as terrorists stormed a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.

    According to sources, the attackers invaded the church during a meeting and immediately opened fire, sending worshippers running for cover.

    Three members were reportedly shot dead on the spot before the assailants seized an unspecified number of people.

    The attackers reportedly escaped through bush paths that connect Eruku to neighbouring communities, leaving residents in panic and confusion.

    The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Kogi State Government have collaborated to disrupt a major drug trafficking network in the state.

    Investigator news reports that a large consignment of illicit drugs was intercepted in a truck, dealing a significant blow to drug traffickers in the state.

    Although the identity of the drug kingpin and the final destination of the consignment remain undisclosed,as investigations are ongoing.

    An NDLEA official who spoke under anonymity because he wasn’t authorised to comment publicly,described the operation as “a major breakthrough”, stressing that the agency’s success was boosted by strong support from the Kogi State Government.

    “This is a major breakthrough and also an indication of the huge support we’ve received from the State Government. Our Command is prepared to continue to dismantle drug networks across the state,” the official said.

    Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, commended the NDLEA for its relentless efforts, noting that the agency will brief the press with detailed findings at the conclusion of investigations.

    “It’s true, and we celebrate this breakthrough. The Kogi State Command of the NDLEA is working tirelessly to ensure the state doesn’t become a transit corridor for illicit drugs.

    “The Agency will provide full details when investigations are concluded. We commend their cooperation in the fight against drug abuse.”

    “This achievement is also crucial for preventing crime, as drugs remain the major driver of criminal activities,” he said.

    Investigator news gathered that the latest interception reinforces Kogi State’s strengthened stance against drug trafficking and its commitment to supporting security agencies in the fight against illicit drugs and related criminality.

    The Delta State Police Command has announced a string of impressive achievements in the fight against crime and insecurity in the state.

    According to a press briefing by Commissioner of Police,on Wednesday 5, November 2025,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the command stated it has recorded notable successes in various areas, including the rescue of kidnapped victims, arrest of suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, and recovery of firearms and ammunition.

    Investigator news reports that some of the major breakthroughs highlighted by CP Abaniwonda include the rescue of 5 kidnapped victims, arrest of 77 suspects, and recovery of 13 firearms, including AK-47 rifles and pump-action guns. The command also seized 591 ammunition and cartridges, and recovered ₦4,100,000 ransom paid to kidnappers.

    CP Abaniwonda went further to highlight several notable arrests, including the arrest of a notorious arms peddler, Ahmed Ibrahim, who was found with 115 rounds of 7.63mm AK-47 live ammunition and other exhibits.

    Another notable arrest was the arrest of a female suspect, Jamila Abubakar, who was found with ₦550,000 suspected to be proceeds from illicit transactions.

    The Delta State Police Commissioner  reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state.

    ACHIEVEMENTS OF DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND RECORDED IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2025 TO DATE

    Gentlemen of the press, I welcome you once again to our press briefing taking place at the Delta State Command headquarters, Asaba, where I will be intimating you on the command scorecard within the period under review.
    1. DEATH OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, AND RECOVERY OF AK-47 RIFLE: On 1st November 2025, at about 1000hrs, the Command received a distress report that armed hoodlums attacked a male resident of Obinomba community while he was conveying his sister on a motorcycle. The assailants, who were armed with guns, forced them to a stop and whisked the female victim into the bush. Acting swiftly on the report, DPO Obiaruku Division led a team of police operatives in collaboration with the local community Vigilante group on 2nd November 2025 at about 0520hrs, trailed the kidnappers into a thick forest at Ibinomba community. On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums opened fire, which the team responded to decisively, leading to a fierce gun duel during which one of the suspects was fatally wounded. The victim was successfully rescued unhurt, while one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and twelve (12) rounds of live ammunition were recovered. The injured suspect was taken to the hospital, but was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The rescued victim has since been reunited with her family, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the gang.
    2. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, ARMS PEDDLER, RECOVERY OF ONE AK-47 RIFLE, AMMUNITION AND CARTRIDGES :Acting on credible intelligence from the Force Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU), Abuja, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) arrested a female suspect, one Jamila Abubakar, at Conoil Filling Station, Warri–Patani Road, Effurun. Upon her arrest, the operatives discovered a cash sum of Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦550,000) suspected to be proceeds from illicit transactions. Upon Further investigation, the operatives stormed Niger-Cat area of Warri, where they successfully arrested a notorious arms peddler, one Ahmed Ibrahim (male, 31 years), at about 0725 hrs on 22nd October 2025 and recovered a bag containing one hundred and fifteen rounds (115) rounds of 7.63mm AK-47 live ammunition, two hundred and twenty (220) rounds of SMG rifle ammunition, and thirty-two (32) live cartridges. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a key supplier of weapons to bandit groups in the North and has long been on the Command’s watch list for his alleged role in several high-profile kidnapping and armed robbery operations. He was also linked to the kidnapping and murder of one Ogheneovo Onemu (female), who was abducted on 17th May 2024 at Ajaokuta Community, Ughelli North LGA, and later killed despite the payment of a ₦4,000,000 ransom. Acting on revelations made by the suspects, the operatives stormed another of the suspects’ hideouts along Ughelli-Warri before Beta Glass Company and recovered one AK-47 rifle, eighteen rounds of 7.62mm ammunition buried in the bush.
    3. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, AND RECOVERY OF FOUR MILLION, ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA RANSOM: Acting on a distress call on the kidnap of two persons (Names withheld) who were kidnapped at Oduke, Asaba on the 3rd of October 2025, the commander Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime squad was detailed to investigate. In compliance with my directives, operatives of Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime squad acting on intelligence trailed one Ndianefo Cypre ‘m’ aged 60yrs to Isieke Village at Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, whose bank account details was used to collect the ransom, another suspect Onwe Sunday aged 49yrs was also arrested at Ihiala in possession of one million five hundred thousand naira which was part of the ransom. Following confessions of the two suspects, another suspect Uzoma Ifeanyi Chukwu was arrested at Nnewi, Anambra state and part of the ransom of two Million, six hundred thousand was recovered from him. Suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.
    4. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER/KIDNAPPER, AND RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY MADE SINGLE-BARRELED GUN: On 31st October 2025 at about 1020hrs, operatives of Eagle Net Special Squad, while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation along Ughelli–Warri Road, the team intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AUC-473-MS, and driven by one Solomon Ojo (male, 58 years) of Ogida Barracks, Benin City. The vehicle, loaded with passengers, was subjected to a meticulous search during which operatives discovered a locally made single-barrel gun and one walkie-talkie concealed inside a sack belonging to one of the passengers, later identified as Ovioma Andrew, male, 38 years of Ughelli Old Road, Ozoro. The suspect was arrested, and investigation is ongoing.
    5. ARREST AND RECOVERY OF ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-EIGHT (178) LIVE CARTRIDGES: On 30th October 2025 at about 1230 hrs, operatives of the Bomadi Division, while on a joint stop-and-search operation with the Bomadi Vigilante, intercepted a motorcycle along the Bomadi–Tuomo Road. The cyclist, who appeared uneasy, was conveying a 62-year-old woman, later identified as Charter Timide, to Tuomo Community. Upon a thorough search, officers discovered a concealed sack containing one hundred and seventy-eight (178) live cartridges neatly packed for delivery. The exhibit was recovered, and the suspect arrested. Investigation is ongoing.
    6. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS: On 30th October 2025 at about 1140hrs, the DPO Ekpan Division received a distress report of a suspected kidnapping incident at Ubeji Community. Acting on the report, the DPO deployed a team of detectives and patrol operatives to the scene. On sighting the approaching police teams, the suspected kidnappers fled into an abandoned poultry house within the same community. The Police cordoned the area, leading to the arrest of the following suspects: Felix Omone ’m’, aged 33 years, Solomon Omone ‘m’, aged 29, Tony Eboye ‘m’, 34, Omone David (m, 32), Jerry Omone (m, 33), Godspower Omone (m, 25), Edewho Bomele (m, 33). The operation also led to the rescue of three male victims, all of Jeddo Community, who were safely reunited with their families. All suspects are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing accomplices and recover any weapons or equipment used in the operation.
    7. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTISTS, AND RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY MADE DOUBLE-BARREL GUN, ONE LOCALLY MADE SINGLE-BARREL GUN, AND SIX LIVE CARTRIDGES: On 25th October 2025 at about 1800hrs, a resident of Aviara community, under Oleh Division, reported that on 22nd October 2025 at about 0812hrs, a video depicting suspected Eiye cult activity was posted on a WhatsApp group known as “Real Men”. Upon receipt of the report, the DPO Oleh Division detailed operatives to investigate discreetly. On 26 October 2025, at about 0800hrs, acting on preliminary findings, the operatives arrested the suspect linked to the post, Donatus Odovo (male, 29), of Aviara community. Follow-up investigation led to the arrest of Zachariah Okeh (male, 36), alleged to be an Eiye cult leader in Aviara. During an execution of a search warrant at his residence, operatives recovered one locally made double-barrelled gun, one locally made single-barrelled gun, and six live cartridges. The exhibits were secured, and the suspects were taken into custody for further investigation.

    8. ARREST OF SUSPECTED GUN RUNNER, AND RECOVERY OF ONE FABRICATED BERETTA PISTOL, ONE PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN, FOUR LIVE AMMUNITION, FOUR LIVE CARTRIDGES: In another development, on 27/10/2025 at about 1345hrs, operatives of Rapid Response Squad, while on stop-and-search duty along the Asaba–Benin Expressway, intercepted a Toyota RAV4 with registration EPE-189-GN. Upon search of the vehicle, found in the vehicle, one fabricated Beretta pistol with breech No. 5182207, and four live ammunition. The driver, Mordi Emmanuel (male, 45), of No. 74, Family Estate, Asaba, was arrested. The team extended the investigation to the premises of the suspect, where, upon execution of a search warrant, one pump-action shotgun with breech No. 20-R-3921, and four live cartridges were recovered from the house and premises. The exhibits and the suspect are in custody, and investigation is ongoing.
    9. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTIST/ARMED ROBBERY SYNDICATE AND RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY MADE CUT-TO-SIZE DOUBLE-BARRELED GUN, ONE LIVE CARTRIDGE, AND ONE EXPENDED CARTRIDGE: On 19th October 2025, the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri, acting on the directive to strengthen visibility policing in volatile areas, deployed operatives to intensify night patrols within the Ubeji community, following a recent resurgence of cult-related clashes. At about 0300hrs, the patrol team of ‘B’ Division Warri sighted a gold-coloured Lexus 350 SUV, with registration number KWL-359-DS (ABUJA). Their suspicious conduct prompted a meticulous search of the vehicle, leading to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun, one battle axe, one live cartridge, and one expended cartridge. Investigation is ongoing. Suspects arrested, and investigation is ongoing.
    10. RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM: On 12/10/2025 at about 1400 hrs, the DPO Ovian Aladja Police station received a distress call from a man (name withheld ) that on the same date at about 0200hrs, while they were sleeping, armed men broke into his apartment, attacked, robbed and kidnapped his wife. The DPO mobilized and led operatives of the division on the trail of the kidnappers. Following unrelenting effort from the DPO and his men, the Kidnappers were forced to abandon the victim and escape. The victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with her family, while manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
    11. ARREST OF DRUG BARON RECOVERY OF ILLICIT DRUGS: On 12/10/2025 at about 0500hrs, operatives of Crack Squad Delta State Command, Asaba, while acting on credible intelligence of a suspected drug peddler, stormed a hideout at Effurun, GRA and arrested one Igwe Samson ‘m’ 33yrs old Abalum Sunday ‘m’ 39yrs old all of Ovie Palace road off Effurun Road Warri. Upon search of his sienna vehicle, four hundred and fifty (450) bottles of CSP codeine, one hundred and eighty-eight (188) bottles of bargadine, two hundred and eight (208) sachets of tramadol 100mg, three hundred (300) sachets of swinol one hundred (100) sachets of tramadol 500mg, fifty (50) sachets of rophynol, a big of weed suspected to be cannabis were recovered. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
    12. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVERY OF ONE PUMP ACTION GUN AND CARTRIDGES: Acting on credible intelligence related to cult activities around Ibusa and its environs. On 06/10/2025, Operatives of CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) stormed the residence of one Onwugbenu Olisa, an adult ‘m at Ibusa Oshimili North LGA of Delta State and arrested one Okechukwu Okwudili Nwanolue ‘m’ 45yrs a native of Abala-Obodo community in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State. Upon search of the residence, one pump action loaded with three (3) live cartridges, two (2) laptops suspected to be devices used for internet fraud, a live snail and other fetish items concealed in a shrine were recovered. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
    13. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVERY OF FIREARM AND ATM CARDS: On 07/10/2025, at about 0630hrs, operatives of CP-Special Assignment Team ( CP-SAT ) stormed a criminal hideout at Adheje Community along Sapele-Warri road, where two (2) suspects, namely, Lucky Tenaera ‘m’ 24yrs, and Prince Emma Esemedafe ‘m’ 38yrs, both residing at Adheje community, Sapele LGA, Delta State and one locally made long gun, eleven (11) ATM cards were recovered from them. Suspects are in custody, and investigation is ongoing.

    Christian genocide: Groups fault Daniel Bwala’s comments on killings in Nigeria

    A coalition of Christian youth organizations has strongly condemned recent comments by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, on the ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria.

    On Monday, Bwala visited the leadership of CAN at the association’s national secretariat in Abuja, the country’s capital, amid the outcry of Christian genocide in Nigeria and the move by some United States lawmakers to protect “persecuted” Christians.

    In a statement released after the visit, Bwala said he told the CAN officials that Western media and US lawmakers are “responsible for painting an inaccurate picture” of the situation in Nigeria.

    However, addressing a joint press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, representatives of the Concerned Christian Youth Forum, Odua Youth Democratic Congress, Middle Belt Youth Vanguard and Progressives Congress, and the Southeast Congress for National Development, accused Bwala of “misrepresenting” the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) after a meeting with its leadership.

    According to the coalition, Bwala’s public claim that there is no genocide against Christians in Nigeria directly contradicts the position of CAN and undermines the documented experiences of victims across several states.

    “It is unstatesmanly, unethical, and misleading for Daniel Bwala to attribute to CAN what was never said in their private meeting,” Adama James Paul, leader of the colation said.

    “His comments amount to a deliberate misrepresentation and a gross distortion of the truth.”

    The coalition alleged that the denial of targeted attacks on Christian communities, particularly in the North and Middle Belt regions, amounts to an attempt to erase years of documented atrocities.

    They cited persistent killings, displacement, and destruction of communities in Benue, Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Taraba, and other Christian-dominated areas, which they described as “a sustained campaign of extermination and ethnic cleansing.”

    Adama said, “It is unfortunate that Mr Bwala, who hails from Borno State, one of the worst-hit regions by Boko Haram’s insurgency, would deny the suffering and deaths of his own people. His comments are not only insensitive but an insult to the memory of thousands who have lost their lives.”

    The coalition further accused the presidential aide of seeking political relevance “at the expense of truth and justice,” adding that his actions have caused additional pain to survivors and displaced persons.

    The groups called on all Christian leaders and Nigerians of goodwill to stand for truth and justice, urging political leaders to avoid statements that downplay or deny the realities of insecurity and targeted violence.

    They, however, commended Nigeria’s security forces for their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and restore peace across the country, while calling for sincerity and unity in addressing the root causes of violence.

    “It is time for our nation to heal and move forward, but healing can only begin when truth is acknowledged, not denied,” the groups added.

    The Delta State Police Command has made significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, arresting suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in separate operations across the state.

    In a press release signed the Police Public Relation Officer,SP Bright Edafe stated that the police recovered a white Venza SUV belonging to the victim, an operational Toyota Matrix vehicle with registration number RRT-331-AE, and a network jammer circuit device.

    According to him,the command received a distress call on September 8,2025 about a kidnapping incident in Ogwashi-Uku. The suspects, Chukwuebuka Nka, Uche Okechukwu, and Somto Chukwuma, were arrested, and the victim was rescued with gunshot injuries.

    The police image maker went further to state that the police arrested Elvis Ebroghro and Abiola Adegore, who were allegedly involved in an attempted vehicle battery theft.

    A follow-up operation led to the arrest of another suspect, Lucky Ebroghro, and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle linked to the syndicate.

    “Acting on intelligence, on 12th September 2025, a team led by the DPO Ekpan, CSP Labe Joseph, arrested two suspects: Elvis Ebroghro (male, aged 36) and Abiola Adegore (male, aged 34), both residents of Ometan. Preliminary findings indicate that on 11 September 2025, a community security guard, Abdullahi Mohammed (male), sighted the duo attempting to steal a vehicle battery.”

    “When he challenged them, the suspects allegedly threatened to kill him if he reported the incident. Following Elvis Ebroghro’s confessional statement, operatives intensified their operations, leading to the arrest of another key suspect, Lucky Ebroghro.”

    “During the follow-up operation, one AK-47 rifle concealed inside an isolated building within Ometan Community and linked to the syndicate was recovered. Investigation is ongoing.”

    “On 8th on September 2025 at about 0130hours, the command received a distress call that a young man (name withheld) was kidnapped at his residence in Ogwashi-Uku and taken away.”

    “The kidnappers after collecting a ransom of two million naira (#2,000,000) shot his leg for not having enough money. The CP immediately detailed the command’s Special anti-kidnapping and cyber squad to the scene.”

    “The commander CSP Godwin Osadolor alongside his operatives stormed the bush and trailed the suspects to Ogwashi-Uku bush, where the victim was rescued with gunshot injury.”

    “The operatives then embarked on an intelligence-led investigation and arrested the duo of Chukwuebuka Nka ‘m’, aged 25 years, of Nenwe in Aniri LGA of Enugu State and Uche Okechukwu ‘m’ of Amaifeke in Orlu LGA of imo state.”

    “Suspects were arrested at Owerri road, Ndemili North LGA of Anambra state and the victim’s white colour Venza SUV was recovered from them. Following the confessions of the two suspects, the operatives stormed their hideout at Agidiase village in Ogwashi-uku, where one Somto Chukwuma ‘m’ aged 18 years of Ezea of Ihiala LGA, Anambra state, was arrested.”

    “The suspect took the operatives to another hideout in Ogwashi-Uku, where they recovered their operational Toyota Matrix vehicle with registration no. RRT-331-AE and a network jammer circuit device was also recovered. Suspects are in custody, and investigation is ongoing.”he submitted

    The Delta State Police Command has recorded notable successes in its efforts to combat crime and criminality in the state.

    Addressing newsmen at the Police headquarters,Asaba,the Public Relation Officer,SP Bright Edafe who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda highlighted some of the achievements, including the arrest of suspected armed robbers, recovery of stolen vehicles, and seizure of contraband drugs.

    The CP reiterated the command’s commitment to the fight against crime and criminality, noting that with the deployment of the new area command Ughelli, residents in Ughelli and environs should be assured that crime and corruption in the area will be drastically reduced.

    CP Olufemi stated that on the 26th of August,2025,a man (name withheld) of Agbarho/otor was robbed by a five-man armed robbery gang,they were arrested, and stolen items, including a 65-inch television and mobile phones, were recovered.

    He also noted that criminal gang that specializes in snatching motor bikes at gun point from helpless Nigerians, according to him two suspects were arrested and a single-barreled gun was recovered.

    He said;Ladies and gentlemen of the press, I welcome you to this press briefing in Ughelli, where I will be intimating you on some of the command’s achievements and recovery recorded in the Ughelli Area command.”

    “On 26/08/25 at about 0800hrs, a man (name withheld) of Agbarho/otor reported that he was robbed by a five-man armed robbery gang; his phones, laptops, 65-inch television, and other valuables were taken from him.”

    “The Area Commander Ughelli detailed operatives to investigate. An intelligence-led investigation led to the arrest of one Faith Perry, and one of the stolen phones was recovered from her.”

    “She then led the operatives to her boyfriend, Kelly Otobure, who gifted her the phone. Upon the arrest of the boyfriend, a search warrant was executed in his house, and the other exhibits stolen from the victim, which include: 65 65-inch Television, Play PlayStation 4, and mobile phones, were recovered from him.”

    “Interrogation of the suspect led to the arrest of the gang leader, Samson Ugbe AKA Big Man, who has been on the command wanted list, alongside his gang members, Emmanuel Edam, Frank Aminu, Sampson Irorowo and Yahaya Bashir.”

    “Also recovered are two suspected stolen vehicles. They are allegedly involved in the robbery at Niger Delta University, Oghara, in the year 2024 and the robbery at Oroye warehouse, where over 180 bags of rice were stolen. Suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”

    “Also,on 25/08/25, the Area commander Ughelli received an information over the criminal activities of a certain criminal gang that specializes in snatching motor bikes at gun point from helpless Nigerians however following an Intelligence report, one Henry Bernard ‘m age 35yrs Justice Ayero ‘m age 39yrs all of Aladja Town of Udu LGA Delta State who robbed a certain rider of his lady bike at gun point.”

    “Surveillance Team trailed and arrested the said Henry Bernard ‘m Justice Ayero ‘m Oho Ogbavwomera ‘m Suspects gave useful information, and following their confessions, they led the Police to the house of one Oluwa Felix ‘m of Owawha community. Search was conducted and one (1) single-barreled gun with three (3) one (1) scissors, three (3) touch lights, two (2) hacksaws, one (1) tiny dagger, one 1) masking tape, all wrapped in a black sack, were recovered”he said.

    The Police image maker went further to state that men of the Area Command Ughelli embarked on a Raid of suspected criminal hideouts in lieu of the campaign against the use of Illicit drugs and its subsequent effects on youths in our society.A drug baron was arrested, and large quantities of illicit drugs, including codeine and tramadol, were seized.

    “On 29/08/25, men of the Area Command Ughelli embarked on a Raid of suspected criminal hideouts in lieu of the Campaign Against the Use of Illicit Drugs and its subsequent effects on youths in our society.

    “The Raid was made possible through Credible Intelligence in relation to the activities of some persons known for drug peddling within Afisere/Ughelli Town.

    “The operatives trailed and arrested a drug baron named Egbule Isioma ‘f’ age 52yrs that operates a Chemist Store opposite the Afisere Town hall alongside three (3) of her apprentices namely Mercy John ‘f Favour John ‘f Amarachi Ngozi ‘f suspect led the operatives to her house at No. 31 Edile Street Afisere Search Warrant was executed during which the followings were recovered, Three Hundred and Fifty Five (355) bottles of CSC Codeine, Fifty Seven (57) rolls of 50MG Tramadol capsules, three hundred and thirty five (335) rolls of 100mg tramadol capsules, thirty three (33) rolls of 200mg super royal, seven (7) backwoods five hundred and forty (540) sachets of swinol capsules, and sixteen (16) cups of Canadian liquid cannabis. Investigation further revealed that the suspect is a major dealer in illicit drugs in Ughelli and environs.”

    “The command acting on a credible intelligence,on the 24/08/2025 at about 0700hrs,received that some hoodlums are about to sell two neat Nigerian Used Vehicles, a Lexus RX350 Jeep and a Mercedes-Benz GLK350 Jeep for Two Million Naira each.”

    “The area commander, Ughelli, immediately led combined Surveillance Teams to a hotel along Effurun, Sapele Road and arrested one Igenebo John ‘m ’, 35 years of Estako East LGA of Edo State. Upon discreet interrogation, he confessed and led the Police to two different locations and the vehicles were promptly recovered. The Mercedes-Benz GLK350 Jeep with REG/NO: ABJ420CY, black in colour, was recovered at the Hotel. The Lexus 350 Jeep with REG/NO: RSH319CB, Colored white, was recovered at Edu Street, off Jakpa Road, by ECO Bank, all in Uvwie LGA. The suspect stated further that the vehicles were given to him on 14/08/2025 by One Ameachi ‘M’ surname unknown to sell the said Ameachi claimed the vehicles were owned by his late elder brother.”

    “However, upon the recovery, vehicle details were immediately sent to the license office for definite clarification/original owner’s details. Upon receiving the details, one Nathaniel Ugbebe ‘M’ Of No 2 Back Of Stepdown Amukpe, Sapele was contacted and he responded, explained that on 17/08/2025 at about 0225hrs, unknown gun men numbering about five (5) broke into his house and robbed him of the following: One REDMI Note 14, valued #250,000.00; one INFINIX phone valued #350,000.00; one I-PHONE 12 PRO MAX valued #480,000.00, one iPhone 8 Pro Max valued #400,000.00, one Nokia torchlight valued #12,000.00, one TECNO button phone valued #35,000.00, one HP laptop valued #250,000.00, one baby tab valued €50 wedding rings valued #50,000.00, one white colored Lexus RX350 with REG/NO: RSH 319 CB.”

    “The victim further stated that they transferred the sum of #1,900,000.00 from his mobile app to his MONIEPOINT POS machine and drove away in his vehicle.”

    “Investigation on top gear to arrest the said Ameachi and other syndicate members currently on the run, recover their guns and other robbed items.”he submitted

    The Delta State Police Command has made two significant arrests in separate operations, showcasing the effectiveness of their proactive policing strategy under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.

    In a release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer,SP Bright Edafe stated that on August 16, 2025, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) intercepted a 39-year-old suspected armed robber, Bassey Udoh, along DBS Road, Asaba.

    According to him,while on stop and search along DBS road, Asaba, the operatives stopped one Bassey Udoh, age 39years of Custom Market, Asaba, carrying a cross bag.

    Suspect, on sighting the Police, became uncomfortable, and this prompted the Police men to search him on the spot.

    Upon the search of the suspect, an English Beretta pistol was recovered as preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is part of a syndicate that usually breaks into people’s homes and cart away their properties, and he bought the gun for the sum of thirty thousand naira (#30,000).

    Suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

    In another development,the Eagle Net Special Squad on August 11, 2025,in collaboration with Nigeria Hunters Security Services (NHSS), arrested Precious Okoro, 27years of age, an ex-convict, and Buhari Deyegu, 18years  for stealing a motorcycle.

    Edafe noted that Okoro had only been released from Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Facility on August 6, 2025, after serving a two-year sentence for a similar offense.-

    A search of Okoro’s residence led to the recovery of a Tiger generator, a big fireman generator, and an iron measuring scale, suspected to be stolen items.

    The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church in Lagos, for allegedly masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs from Ghana into Nigeria.

    Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church in Okun Ajah, Lekki, after months of evading arrest and fleeing to Ghana.

    Investigator news reports that the NDLEA operatives waited until the end of the Sunday worship service before arresting Olasele as he stepped out of the church premises.

    According to him, the pastor fled to Ghana in June to evade arrest after operatives linked him to two cannabis seizures — 200kg recovered at Okun Ajah Beach on June 4 and 700kg found in his delivery van on July 6.

    “After months of fleeing abroad to evade arrest, the Founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele (alias Abbas Ajakaiye) has been arrested for masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria.

    Wanted General Overseer arrested in Lagos for cross-border drug trafficking

    After months of fleeing abroad to evade arrest, the founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele (alias Abbas Ajakaiye) has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria.

    Prophet Adefolusho was arrested at his church located in Okun Ajah, Ogombo road, Lekki area of Lagos on Sunday 3rd August 2025 by NDLEA officers who waited for him since morning to conclude the Sunday worship service in the evening before moving in on him the moment he stepped out of the church premises.

    The arrest came after he had evaded arrest twice and fled to Ghana to hide since June when operatives started trailing him following the seizure of two shipments of Ghana Loud, a strain of cannabis linked to him. The first seizure of 200kg of the psychoactive substance was made at Okun Ajah beach on 4th June 2025 while another consignment of 700kg of same substance was recovered from his delivery van on 6th July 2025.

    In his statement, he admitted ferrying the illicit consignments through the waterways from Ghana into Nigeria, adding that he had fled to the West African country to hide after he escaped arrest twice in the recent past.

    In another operation in Lagos, NDLEA operatives on Thursday 7th August raided an apartment at Kishi House 11 Layi Ajayi Bembe street, Parkview Estate Ikoyi where they arrested a suspect Benjamin Udo Ukoh and recovered 32 pouches of Canadian Loud, a strain of Cannabis with a total weight of 15.63kg.

    In Nasarawa state, NDLEA operatives on Saturday 9th August recovered a large consignment of skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 3,093 kilograms from the trio of Emmanuel Asoquo Johnny, 51; Okem Raphael, 33, and Chekwube Odo, 25, at New Karu area of the state.

    While 29-year-old Nura Yahaya was nabbed at Geza area of Kumbotso Kano State with 639 blocks of skunk weighing 359kg on Friday 8th August, another suspect Umar Adamu Umar, 27,was taken into custody on Wednesday 6th August by NDLEA officers after seizing 9kg of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis from him along Zaria-Kano road, Kano.

    In another interdiction operation in Kano, 20,000 pills of tramadol and 200 ampoules of diazepam injection were recovered from a suspect Usman Musa, 30, at Gadar Tamburawa along Zaria-Kano road on Friday 8th August.

    A raid at an uncompleted building located at Tudun Wadan Pantami in Gombe town, Gombe state on Friday 8th August led to the recovery of 550, 266 pills of opioids mainly tramadol while a suspect Usama Isah was arrested.

    The following day Saturday 9th August, another suspect Ibrahim Adamu, 23, was arrested by NDLEA officers along Potiskum road, Bajoga with 50,000 capsules of tramadol.

    In Edo state, a white Toyota Hiace bus marked YAB 5522 K coming from Onitsha Anambra and heading to Isanlu in Kogi was Wednesday 6th August intercepted at Ewu junction, Edo by NDLEA operatives who after a search recovered 23, 940 capsules of tramadol, 1,100 tablets of same opioid and 400 ampoules of pentazocine injection with a suspect Taiye Jethro arrested.

    In like manner, Commands and formations of the Agency across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization activities to schools, worship centres, work places and communities among others in the past week. These include: WADA enlightenment lecture to students and staff of Mind City College, Saki, Oyo; Gwagwarwa Primary School, Nasarawa LGA, Kano; officers of the Nigerian Army 241 Recce Model Battalion, Nguru, Yobe; members of Engine Grinders Association, Gboko, Benue; while the Ekiti state command of NDLEA paid WADA advocacy visit to the Nigerian Correctional Service in Ado Ekiti, just as the Anambra state command of the Agency paid a similar WADA advocacy visit to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

    While commending the officers and men of the Lagos, Nasarawa, Gombe, Kano, and Edo Commands for the arrests, seizures and their dexterity, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) enjoined them and their colleagues across the country to continue with the ongoing balanced approach to the drug control efforts of the Agency.
