    Fake EFCC Staff Docked For Alleged N1.1million Fraud ln Enugu.

    The Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arraigned one Nweke Izuchukwu Jude before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Independence Layout, Enugu State for allegedly impersonating officers of the EFCC.

    Jude was arraigned on two-count charges bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N1,100,000. 00 (One Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira).

    One of the Counts reads: “That you, Nweke Izuchukwu Jude, sometime in April 2024, at Enugu, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of N1,100,000. 00 from one Justin Chidozie Chukwukere when you fraudulently presented yourself as an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, a pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act”.

    The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him. In view of his plea, EFCC Counsel, Ajobiewe Rotimi Enitan,  prayed the court for a trial date and for the defendant to be remanded at Enugu State Correctional facility.

    However, the defence counsel E. S. Umeojiakor informed the court about a pending bail application before it and prayed that his client be admitted to bail on liberal terms.

    Enitan opposed the application.

    After listening to both sides, the court granted the defendant bail on the following conditions: bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court. One of the sureties must have a landed property within the jurisdiction and they must be verified by the court Registrar.

    The matter was adjourned to October 9, 2024, for trial while the defendant was remanded at Enugu State Correctional Facility pending the perfection of the bail conditions.

    The Commissioner of Police, Delta State,CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has declared that cultism and the use of illicit hard drugs in the state is a menace that must be eradicated among youths because it poses a significant threat to society and the country at large.

    CP Abaniwonda stated this during a press conference when parading suspected armed robbers, cultists and drug peddlers at the force headquarters.noting that the use of the illicit hard drugs is dangerous to the health and also capable of pushing them to commit various crime in the state.

    He went further to state that acting on credible intelligence on the peddling of arms and intended cult clash within Oteri community in Ughelli North LGA of Delta state,the command deployed operatives on special assignment led by ASP Julius Robinson on June 14,2024 at about 2:30pm where they trailed a notorious cultist and a mastermind of the intended cult clash to a hotel (name withheld)in Ughelli and the suspects, Felix Egbe aged 37yrsrs was arrested together with a member of Eiye Confraternity and a youth secretary of Oteri Community Ughelli North Delta.

     


    In a press release signed by the image maker of the command,SP Edafe Bright noted that upon interrogation,the suspects took the operatives to his residence where a Beretta pistol was recovered and investigation are ongoing.

    SP Edafe said,” On the 18/6/2024, about 0120hrs, operatives of Aladja police out-station received a distress call that some suspected armed robbers were carrying out a robbery operation in Aladja community. The district officer(D/O) alongside members of the community mobilized to the scene where the suspects Lucky Victor ‘m’ aged 20yrs, and Godbless Oghenevegba ‘m’ aged 20yrs were arrested at Igwere quarters Aladja. One locally made gun, cartridges, knife and the a suspected stolen phone were recovered from them. suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.”

    “On the 13/06/2024 at about 1400hrs, acting on another credible information received on an outlet for distribution of Illicit Hard Drugs in Asaba. Operatives from the CP Monitoring unit responded and went to the scene where the following persons were arrested; Emeka Ozumu ‘m’ aged 49yrs, and Patrick Otukam ‘m’ 30yrs. Thirteen (13) bottles of Codeine, and twenty-three (23) Sachets of Tramadol and other hard drugs were recovered from them. investigation is ongoing”he stated.

    The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda therefore urges youths to shun all form of crime and also stay away from illicit drug, noting that operatives of Crack squad, CP monitoring, and raiders squad has been deployed to crack down on a drug peddling hideouts in the state and anyone found wanting will be arrested and charged to court.

    Following the gruesome murder of Abigail Stanley aged 6years old allegedly killed by the father Mr Sankey Ovemureye of which occurred on June 15,2024,the Commissioner of Police Delta state,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing suspects.

    The police command which recieved a distress call by the brother to the fleeing suspects went to scene of the incident at Uviama New layout, Agbarho Ughelli North area of Delta state and recovered the corpse of the little child whose head was smashed several times on the wall.

    According to Delta Command,the corpse has been deposited at the mortuary while the father who is the principal suspect is currently at large.

    CP Olufemi Abaniwonda who is saddened by this barbaric act,has assured members of the public that the suspect will be arrested and justice will be served.
    He urged anyone with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to call the control room number on 0803684974 or report at the nearest police station.

    The Delta State Police Command has arrested 8 Suspected Armed Robbers that has been terrorizing residents in Bonsaac,Okwe and other areas in the metropolis of Delta state.

    The suspects who were paraded by the Commissioner of Police,CP Abaniwonda Olufemi at the force headquarters stated that with the recent complaints of house to house robbery in the area,the division deployed a new DPO,CSP Edewor Akponegware with a clear mandate to identify and arrest those responsible.

    CP Abaniwonda went further to state that with credible information from a concerned resident (name withheld),the command swing into action and arrested 8 Suspected Armed Robbers namely John Dalami 25yrs, Musa Suleiman 25yrs, Abdullahi Jibril 20yrs, Solomon Uchechukwu 24yrs, Yusuf Joda 21yrs, Egboka Chukwu Charles 21yrs and Wisdom Syvester 21yrs and the following items were recovered, a bako bag containing a Locally Made Cut to Size Gun, one Live Cartridge.

    He noted that the suspects have been involved in a series of house-to-house armed robbery operations at Issele-Asagba, Coka, and Ibusa, noting that the case has been transferred to the special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime squad for further investigation.

    Acting on the confessions of the suspects, they led the operatives to their hideout at the back of DDPA estate Asaba where six additional suspects were arrested and three locally made cut-to-size guns were recovered. Investigation is ongoing

    In another development,a 400 level student of the Department of Banking & Finance, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Nelson Eserada, has been arrested along with a friend Jerry Lawrence of Jeddo Community,Warri for an alledged kidnap in order to extort the sum of N50 million from his father as ransom.

    According to the Police Public Relation Officer,SP Edafe Bright,the father of Nelson Eserada lodge a complaint that his son had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers were demanding the sum of N50million in Bitcoin and that the suspect had already extorted N5.2 million from him.

    The release went on to say that the suspect also sent a video of the supposed victim tied and being tortured,immediately the DPO Abraka SP Fabian Ayameh swiftly moved into action, embarked on a technical intelligence-led investigation and on 10 June,2024 at about 8:00 and Jerry Lawrence of Jeddo Community Warri was arrested in connection with the crime.The suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.

    CP Abaniwonda urged parents to train and take care of their children., he noted that children when not raised properly may grow up and become problems to their parents. He also urged youths to stay away from the get-rich-quick syndrome, noting that crime does not pay.

    The Commissioner of Police CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has assured all Deltans,residents and non residents in the state that under his watch, they will sleep with their two eyes closed.

    He stated this when addressing newsmen at the police headquarters over the recent raid by the Quick response squad who acted on credible intelligence gathered on the activities of some suspected robbers and kidnappers disturbing the peace of citizens in kwale axis.

    CP Abaniwonda went further to state that the squad led by SP Osadolor Godwin stormed the hideout of the criminals in an uncompleted building, noting that on sighting the police two suspects opened fire and escaped in the process as three locally made guns,two pump action guns,one Ak 47 magazine, thirty four rounds of live cartridges, Fifty one rounds Ak 47 Ammunition were recovered, efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects is ongoing.

    The Police Commissioner noted that the command recorded another milestone,he said” As about 11:30am, operatives on Special assignment with base in Ughelli led by ASP Julius Robinson stormed Jesse junction and effected the arrest of one Ufoma Omene ‘m’ 55yrs of Mosogar, in Ethiope West LGA Delta State but resident at Jesse junction area of Sapele town. Upon search of the suspect’s residence a Locally Fabricated Ak-47 Rifle with Revolver like Magazine, and Thirteen (13) rounds of 7.6mm ammunition were recovered. In addition to his involvements in series of crime in that area, he is also suspected to be a member of Eiye confraternity. Investigation is ongoing,”he submitted.

    He opined that support from members of the public is highly needed for effective policing. While admonishing members of the public to always reach out to the command in cases of distress either by reporting to the nearest Police Station or call the control room.

    The special police squad deployed to Ughelli, Delta State by the Commissioner of Police,CP Abaniwonda Olufemi to checkmate the activities of Kidnapers and armed robbers in Ughelli,Warri Sapele and it environs successfully arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered one beretta pistol, one locally cut-to-size gun, three cutlasses, phones and ATM cards belonging to victims.

    In a press release signed by the Police Public Relation Officer,SP Edafe Bright stated that the team which was led by ASP Julius Robinson stormed Sapele town on 5th June,2024 at about 5:45pm, arrested the gang leader, Blessing Atima aged 23years of Jesse Community in Ethiope west , Destiny Okpako of Oviri Okpe Community in Okpe LGA aged 19years and Wisdom Akpohiowho aged 20 of Jesse Community,all residents of Sapele town.

    The PPRO went further to state that on interrogating the suspects,they revealed that they have so far taken part in six of the armed robbery operations in Sapele, and that their victims have identified the suspects,their valuables items recovered from them and investigation are on going.

    In the same vein,the PPRO noted that the RRS Operatives in the state,while acting on credible information burst into an uncompleted building where suspected robbers terrorizing the area were sighted along lssele Asagba Express Way.

    He said,”On 3/05/2024 at about 0830hrs, RRS Operatives, while acting on credible information that some suspected robbers were sighted ⁰ an uncompleted building along Issele-Asagba Express Way. The operatives stormed the uncompleted building and arrested one Usman Bello ‘M’ age 40yrs, and one Locally Made Fabricated Beretta Pistol recovered from him. The suspect who pretends to be a mentally unstable person is in custody and investigation is ongoing.”

    “Also on 04/06/2024, at about 1300 hrs, the Area commander Asaba acting on intelligence report on the activities of some suspects who come from across the Niger to Asaba at night, break into and loot the shops of their targeted victims, the Area commander immediately deployed undercover operatives who embarked on a discreet operation which eventually paid off when the duo of one Ameachi Micheal ‘m’ age 42 yrs of Wuje Street Port Harcourt and Ogochukwu Ogbode ‘m’ age 38 yrs of Aronomen Enugu were arrested along DLA road, Asaba. Preliminary investigations revealed that after breaking and looting the shops of their victims, they carried their loot to Port-Harcourt to sell. Investigation and efforts to arrest the receivers of these stolen items are ongoing.” he submitted.

    The Delta State Police Command has again recorded another major achievements in the fight against crime and criminality in Agbarho, Delta state.

    The Command which received an intelligence report from a concerned vigilante member in Agbarho(name withheld) on the hideout of some suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing Ughelli, Agbarho, Warri, Sapele and environs in the bush at Uwurghelli village by the rail tracks, stormed the area and cordoned of the entire place.

    The release signed by the Police Public Relation Officer SP. Edafe Bright stated that on the 30th of May,2024 at about 3pm,the police operatives which acted on an intelligence report, stormed the bush led by DPO Agbarho Division CSP Josephine Ekebuike and carried out an intensive search during which sack bags were sighted hidden in the bush and upon search of the sack bags, three (3) AK-49 rifles, two (2) AK-47 Rifles, and Two Hundred and Seven (207) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered and the Command has launched a serious manhunt for the fleeing suspected kidnappers.

    The Commissioner of Police CP Abaniwonda Olufemi went further to commends the Division Police Officer and men of Agbarho Police Station for their prompt response to the credible information received, while advising members of the public to continue to trust and partner with the Police.
    CP Abaniwonda reiterated that police-community partnership is the best for optimal results, noting that the command is willing and ready to act promptly on credible information received to nip crime in the bud.

    He also warned residents to shun all forms of unlawful activities, stating that the command under his watch will not leave any stone unturned in fishing out criminal elements from wherever they are hibernating and ensure that they are brought to justice.

    The Delta State Police Command led by CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has urged youths in the state to shun all form of crime and stay away from cultism.

    He stated this when parading suspected criminals,cultist and kidnappers who have been terrorising the peace of the citizens in the state.

    According to CP Abaniwonda, series of reported cases of cultism and gun running have been taking place in Ughelli,Warri,Sàpele,Oghara and its environs, noting that the command decided to deployed its special squad led by ASP Julius Robinson to Ughelli, on 24th May,2024 where one Emmanuel John Aisewowhion a.k.a “Small Juju” aged 34years, a native of Ewohimi community Esan-South East LGA of Edo State, but resident at Uwagba Community in Okpe LGA, Delta State was trailed and arrested.

    He went further to state that one Beretta pistol was recovered from his house and investigation further revealed that he is a member of Eiye confraternity and he got the gun from one Goodluck Sakutu, a suspected gun runner already in custody and serious efforts to arrest other members of his gang are ongoing

    In the same vein, the Police Commissioner noted that the command embarked on an intelligence-driven policing,stormed Oghara town and arrested another notorious cultist identified as Philips Omomedia,aged 37 yrs from Onogo-Vor community in Ethiope West LGA Oghara Delta State.

    Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a member of Aro-Bagar confraternity and suspected to be involved in a series of cult-related killings and he was arrested with one Automatic Double Barrel gun with fifteen (15) live cartridges and Investigation are ongoing.

    He said,”On Sunday at about 1700hrs a combined patrol team of policemen of the division & federal hunters who were deployed on a crime prevention patrol while on stop and search duty along Oputu road Orhowurun community in Udu LGA, flagged down a motorcyclist carrying one passenger for a routine search. The suspect refused to stop and the team chased them, during the chase one of the suspects Christopher Semede ‘m’ age 33yrs was arrested and one locally made cut-to-size double barrel pistol was recovered from him. A concerted effort to arrest the other fleeing suspect is ongoing.”he stated

    CP Abaniwonda Olufemi commended officers and men of the command for their steadfastness in fighting crime and urged other officers to emulate the same.

    “It is our collective responsibility to flush out criminals from the state in other to guarantee the safety of residents in the State,l want to urged the youths to shun all forms of crime, because youth involvement in cult-related activities is alarming and this has negative consequences for the security of the state and for this reason,the command will not fold its hands and allow lawlessness in the state”he submitted.

    He assured residents that the command will continue to identify, arrest, and prosecute suspects arrested until Delta State is free from all forms of criminality.

    The Commissioner for Police, Delta State Command, Abaniwonda Olufemi has warned against proliferation of firearms in the state, stating that being in possession of firearms of any kind is strictly prohibited and anyone caught will be dealt decisively with in accordance with the law.

     

    He stated this during a news press conference in Asaba, where he said that the police special team deployed to Ughlelli led by ASP Julius Robinson, acting on intelligence, stormed the residence of one Chief Oviri Onorigho 52yrs of Oghara town in Ethiope West LGA Delta State who is an accountant with the Delta State Polytechnic Oghara Delta State.

    CP Abaniwonda noted that a search warrant was executed in his residence during which one Baretta Pistol loaded with four(4) rounds of live ammunition was recovered. The suspect was immediately arrested and preliminary investigation revealed that he is suspected to be a member of Aiye confraternity.

    The CP went further to state that the suspect said that he bought the gun from one Morrison (at large) for two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000) and that it was for his protection. The suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.

    In another development,the police arrested two armed robbers who made away with a pumping machine from a resident of Ekpan Community,the statement reads:

    On 18/05/2024 at about 1600 hours a resident of Ekpan Community (name withheld) came to the charge room and reported that on 16/5/2024 at about 0200 hours he sighted a certain young man dressed in a black cloth carrying a black bag inside their compound that he raised alarm which made the suspect escape but they later noticed that their pumping machine was stolen by the suspect”.

     

    “However on 17/5/2024 at about 0610hrs, operatives alongside members of the community arrested one gift Newworld ‘m’ of Ekpan community, and after a painstaking interrogation and investigation, the suspect led the police to his hideout in Ekpan where the pumping machine, one locally made cut-to-size double barrel gun, and three live cartridges were recovered. Further investigation led to the arrest of his gang member Izobo Okwe ‘m’ of Ekpan who later confessed to being the owner of the gun and a member of the gang. The suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.

    “On 17/05/2024 at about 0005hrs, operatives from B’ Division Asaba while performing stop and search duty along Benin-Asaba Expressway acting on a tip-off intercepted a diesel truck with registration NO: ENU 564 ZU, loaded with Eight Hundred and Forty (840) crates of life Lager Beer, the truck was driven on 15/05/2024 by one Collins Ogbodo Ude ‘M’ a driver with Lumie Haulage Breweries Company, Enugu. The truck was stolen from where parked at Umuasea Bus Stop in Udi Local Government Area Enugu State. With the aid of technically driven intelligence, the truck was located in Delta State and intercepted by operatives of the ‘B’ division. One (1) male suspect Emeka Okorie aged 32yrs from Imo state was arrested while two other suspects escaped. Upon search of the truck, one (1) cut-to-size locally made double barrel pistol and four (4) live cartridges were recovered. Efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect are ongoing.

    Sequel to reports of armed robbery operations in the metropolis, the Delta Police command led by CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has strategically deployed all Tactical Teams to various nipping points in Asaba, Okpanam, Ibusa and other parts of the metro.

    At about 02:00 hrs on Monday, the Area Command Asaba received complaints that some suspected armed robbers who robbed three houses the night before were sighted around Coka in Asaba, the Area command swiftly deployed operatives who went all out for the suspects and arrested one Ozuluonye Okonkwo age 21 yrs.

    Upon interrogation of the suspect, he stated that he and his gang were responsible for the robbery operation around Coka and its environs. His confession led to the arrest of one Anukwu Joseph, while the gang leader who is also the gun supplier is presently at large. suspects are in custody and investigation is ongoing.

    Again, acting on technically generated intelligence on the activities of some suspected kidnappers in Aniocha North LGA, the command deployed operatives led by the Area Commander Asaba ACP Sunday Oladipo, who stormed the hideout and arrested one Ebube Osakwe age 32 yrs. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his gang members (at large) carried out a kidnapping in Egu-Agbor and took their victims to Akoko Edo area in Edo state where they usually collect ransom before releasing their victims.

    Further investigation also revealed that in their last operation, they collected the sum of two million, five hundred thousand (#2.500,000) from their victims. Efforts to arrest the other members of the gang are ongoing.

    Yesterday at about 1700hrs, operatives of Dragon Patrol teams 25 and 31 while on stop and search duty along Kwale/Ogwashi-Uku Express road intercepted a white color Toyota Hiace Bus with Reg no. FST 210 XD driven by one David Ikama ‘m’ age 62yrs of 28 old Ekete road Ovwian –Aladja conveying passengers from Onitsha to Warri. In their normal proactive way of policing, they subjected the passengers to a search during which some bags loaded with suspected illicit drugs namely one thousand, two hundred and sixty-six bottles of codeine syrup, six hundred and four tablets of tramadol, fifty-four tablets of Swinol, Ninety sachets of Rohypnol were recovered. The suspect David Ikama was arrested and taken into custody while investigation is ongoing.

    The commissioner of Police Delta State CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has directed that all Tactical commanders and DPOS deploy all available resources to checkmate the activities of armed robbers, kidnappers, and other criminal elements in the state or risk being removed.

    He further reiterates that residents in the State under his watch must sleep with their two eyes closed.
