    In a bid to foster collaboration and strengthen ties with stakeholders in the tourism industry, Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon, Vice President of Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) South West Region,led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the illustrious High Chief Patrick Yedenu Mobee, the custodian of the renowned Historic Slave Relics Museum and former member of the Lagos State Tourism Board.

    During the visit, Apata recommended High Chief Mobee for honorary fellowship, recognizing his contributions.

    He stated that High Chief Mobee’s unwavering dedication to preserving Badagry’s rich cultural heritage has been truly exemplary, and the museum under his custody stands as a testament to his tireless efforts.

    Apata commended High Chief Mobee’s outstanding contributions to the tourism industry, highlighting his pivotal role in sustaining the Historic Slave Relics Museum as a significant historical landmark in Nigeria.

    He noted that the recommendation of High Chief Mobee for Honorary Fellowship is a fitting recognition of his remarkable service to the industry.

    Responding High Chief Mobee expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to working with ATPN to promote Badagry’s unique cultural and historical significance.

    In a significant development aimed at enhancing the professional growth and development of its members and promoting tourism in the South West Region, the Office of the Vice President, ATPN South West Region,has officially unveiled the ATPN South West Training and Development Committee(T&D).

    Investigator news reports that this committee which has been carefully constituted is designed to deliver high-impact conferences, seminars,and workshops that will foster capacity building, knowledge sharing, and professional excellence in the tourism sector, with a focus on making tourism more appealing to all Nigerians, particularly in the South West Region.

    The decision to establish this committee emanated from the first meeting of the South West Executive Council (SWEC), which was recently convened to chart the course for the region’s growth and development.

    According to Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon,Vice President,South West Region, “The establishment of the Training and Development Committee is a direct outcome of our commitment to creating value for our members and promoting tourism in the South West Region.”

    The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) South West Region has  commended the Oyo State Governor,His Excellency,Engr. Seyi Makinde for the success of the 2025 world Egungun festival, highlighting its potential to drive economic diversification and generate revenue.

    According to Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon,Vice President of ATPN South West Region and team lead to the event, stated that the World Egungun Festival 2025 is a testament to the power of cultural heritage in shaping our economic future and promoting national identity.

    “We commend the Oyo State Government for their visionary leadership and commitment to preserving Yoruba heritage.”he said

    The 2025 World Egungun Festival,held in Ibadan from May 14 to 15, 2025,was a gand celebration of Yoruba heritage that drew international attention and reinforced the Oyo State’s commitment to cultural preservation and economic growth.

    Investigator news reports that the festival featured masquerade displays from South-West Nigeria and the Benin Republic, showcasing intricate costumes and dances that reflect the ancestral and spiritual significance of the Egungun tradition.

    Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde in his address,emphasized the festival’s role in driving economic growth through cultural tourism.

    He stated that the festival’s success underscores the potential of cultural events to drive economic growth and promote cultural exchange.

    The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, announced its efforts to enlist the festival in UNESCO’s cultural heritage list.

     

    Investigator news gathered that the ATPN South West team attended a symposium on cultural heritage and economic growth,toured the Royal Entertainment Resort where the CEO, Dr. Sanni was received into ATPN and decorated with the association’s insignia and visited Bower’s Tower, which was facilitated by the Chairman Oyo State Chapter and the HOD Tourism Management Technology of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Dr. Kola Lawal.

    The South West team went further to praised Governor Makinde’s leadership and the festival’s potential to drive economic diversification.

    The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) South West Region has applauded the Ogun State Government on the opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival 2025 which commenced on Friday 16,May 2025, describing it as a significant milestone in promoting sports tourism in Nigeria.

    In a press release signed and made available to Investigator news by the Vice President,Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) South South West Region,Hon Apata Samson Nunayon, stated that the association recognize the immense potential of sports tourism in driving economic growth,cultural exchange, and national pride.

    According to the Vice President,”Sports events like this festival have the power to attract visitors, create jobs, and stimulate local economies, making them a valuable addition to our tourism product offerings.”

    He went further to state that the South West region is known for its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural beauty, and world-class infrastructure, which is perfectly positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for sports tourism.

    The Lagos Chapter of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) is set for inauguration on Thursday 1,May 2025 at Airport Hotel,Ikeja,Lagos, by 12:00 noon.

    In a release signed by the  Secretary, Office of the Vice President, South West Region,Alaketu Abiodun disclosed that the inauguration would inaugurate Alhaja Olabisi Kamar-Azeez as Chairman.

    Others to be inaugurated along side with her include Mr. Olaide Osoba(Vice Chairman), Mr. Emmanuel Oyira(General Secretary, Mr. Kolawole Paul(Asst. General Secretary),Dr. (Mrs.) Adedayo Oluwatoyin(Treasurer) while Mr. Emmanuel Akande would serve as the Financial Secretary.

    Investigator news reports that Mrs. Alo Adenike Christy will serve as the Welfare/Social Secretary, Mr. Abdulkareem Balogun(Assistant Welfare/Social Secretary),Comrade Ogunye Oluwaseun(Publicity Secretary.

    Others are Prince Adeyemi(Directorates of Corporate Relations & Engagement),Pastor Okunlola Gabriel(Directorates of Research & Education) and Amb. Rasak as Directorates of Membership & Community Engagement.

    Alaketu explained that ATPN, represents practitioners and stakeholders in the tourism value chain in the private sector and that the Lagos state chapter aims to harness the state’s tourism potential in partnership with the state government.

    He went further to state that the event would witness Registration and Networking,Keynote Address on the theme: “Collaborative Leadership:The key to unlocking Lagos tourism potential and Inauguration of Exco members.

    Investigator news gathered that expected dignitaries include the Director-General of NIHOTOUR, President, Board of Trustees members representing the South West Region, ATPN Publicity Secretary, a representative of the community of expatriates in Lagos, and industry leaders.

    In a bid to unlock the South West region’s rich cultural heritage and natural attractions,the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN)led by its Vice President Hon.Apata Samson Nunayon, has taken a significant strides in strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders in Ogun State’s tourism sector.

    Investigator news reports that the association which is a professional organization dedicated to promoting tourism development and economic growth in Nigeria is committed to promote the rich culture in South West.

    In his speech, the Vice president,Hon Apata stated that the essence of their visit was to collaborate with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism so as to promote tourism development in Ogun State, leveraging the state’s rich cultural heritage and natural attractions.

    He went further to state that the association would used the opportunity to create and activate the Ogun State Chapter of ATPN which will be announced later this month, stating that with the inauguration of the pioneer Executives, ATPN South West Region and the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism can drive tourism development and economic growth in the state, while promoting the region’s rich cultural heritage and natural attractions.

    Responding the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ogun State,Hon (Dr)Sesan Fagbayi thanked the association for the visit and assured them of his Ministry’s commitment and that of the State government in promoting culture and tourism in the state.

    Dr Fagbayi pointed out the Ministry’s policy thrust which includes creating viable platforms for public-private engagement, aligning with ATPN’s goals marked a crucial step towards fostering collaboration and driving tourism development in the state.

    In another development, the Ogun State Government has temporarily closed the Olumo Rock Tourist Complex for renovation and a facelift, effective from April 14, 2025.

    Investigator news gathered that the complex, which receives over 70,000 visitors annually, may likely to be reopened on May 16th, coinciding with the opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival to be hosted by the Ogun State government.

    This major event is anticipated to draw large crowds, and the renovated complex will be a key attraction and with the new the partnership with ATPN which is aimed to unlock Ogun State’s tourism potential, create jobs, and attract investment, ultimately positioning the state as a national and global tourism powerhouse, Ogun State would become a home of attraction for cultural heritage.

    As ATPN South West Region’s mission is to promote tourism development and economic growth in the region, while showcasing the rich cultural heritage and natural attractions of Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Lagos States.
