    The Chairmanship Candidate of Ejigbo LCDA,Hon Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo has joined other Nigerians to celebrate this year children’s day celebration.

    In a congratulatory message signed and released by his media handlers, Taiwo recognizes the joy and innocence children brings into the lives of their parents.

    Hon Taiwo went further to reaffirm his commitment to uphold and protect the basic rights of every child,ensuring their safety,education, and well-being as he would continue to strive towards a brighter future where every child can thrive.

    “On this day celebrating our nation’s greatest assets, we are reminded as individuals, ministry, and government of the need to promote their well being and protect their rights as outlined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.”

    “As we celebrate this year, there is an increasing need for everyone of us to raise awareness on issues that affect access to quality education for our children, in appreciating that they are the future of society.”

    He urge parents, guardians and caregivers to continue to encourage creativity in children to express themselves through activities that celebrate their talents and voices.

    The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo has rejoiced with every youngster in the council area on the special occasion of this year’s Children’s Day.

    The council boss, in a congratulatory message released by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Damilola Kushimo described the children as ‘God’s Heritage’ and ‘movers of our tomorrow’, adding that they deserve benevolence and celebration today, as always.

    Olasoju explained that the significance of today is not just to rejoice with the kids but to raise parents’ awareness on the importance of their good upbringing as enjoined in the Scriptures in Proverbs 22 Vs 6; as well as helping them to remain ambitious.

    “Today is a reminder that every child is a divine gift and a beacon of hope for a greater tomorrow. It is a call to action for parents, leaders, and the society at large to nurture, protect, and invest in the dreams of our children,” he said.

    The chairman reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to policies and programmes that promote child welfare, education, and development across the council area.

    He urged parents and guardians to continue playing their part in instilling values that could help them become responsible leaders in no distant future, while promising to keep creating safe and enabling environments for every child to thrive.

    “As a government, we understand that the strength of any society lies in the well-being of its children. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that no child is left behind in Isolo LCDA.

    The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of candidates who wrote the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit examination.

    JAMB disclosed this in a statement by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

    Of the 336,845 candidates rescheduled for the examination, the board said 21,082 others were absent.

    “Of the 336,845 who were eventually scheduled after isolated good sessions of the affected centres were excluded and their previously unverified candidates were added, 21,082 were absent,” it said.

    It also announced the release of withheld results of under-age candidates (except where litigation is involved), who performed below the established standards and those involved in ‘WhatsApp Runs’ and other misdemeanours.

    The results were released after a meeting of the Board’s Chief External Examiners (CEEs) in all states of the federation.

    “It would be recalled that after the conduct of the resit examination, a meeting of the Board’s Chief External Examiners (CEEs) in all states of the federation was held to consider the results. In attendance at the meeting were a few notables.

    “After consideration of the report of the resit examination, and extensive deliberations thereon, a sub-committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University, Prof. Olufemi Peters, who is also the CEE FCT, was constituted to confirm that the results are in order.

    “The CEEs reviewed the exercise and directed that an expert in psychometrics, Prof. Boniface Nworgu, be invited to analyse and endorse the results for subsequent release.

    “As part of the healing process, the meeting resolved that the withheld results of under-age candidates (except where litigation is involved), who performed below the established standards, be released.

    “Such result does not however qualify them for admission, as they had previously signed an undertaking during the registration process acknowledging that only those who meet the prescribed standards would be considered for under-age special admission.

    “Release of Result of Candidates involved in ‘WhatsApp Runs’ and other Misdemeanours: This category of candidates were found to have been involved in illicit solicitation of assistance. The meeting emphasised that its decision is not an endorsement of candidates’ unacceptable acts, rather a once and for all waiver. Candidates were thus advised to refrain from joining questionable ‘WhatsApp and other anti-social groups.’

    “All results are now released except those of candidates who committed examination infractions and those slated for mop-up examinations. While releasing the results, it should be emphasised that recent discoveries particularly by the security agencies have necessitated the withdrawal of some of the results of implicated candidates across the country whose results have been previously released.

    “Candidates with earlier released results need not recheck their results as candidates affected by the withdrawal are being notified through text messages on their registered lines, their profiles and emails.

    “It should be emphasised that the charges for shortcode of 55019/66019 (text messages) does not generate revenue to JAMB as being ignorantly peddled. The shortcode approach is to protect the critical data of the candidates and to curtail their cybercafé-extortion during their desperate check for results.”

    Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) celebrated its 11th to 15th combined convocation ceremonies, marking a significant milestone in the university’s history.

    The event, held at the university campus, Igbariam, gathered dignitaries, faculty, students, and alumni to honour the achievements of graduates and reflect on the institution’s strides in recent years.

    Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo,in his address,reflected on the transformation of COOU since his administration took office.

    “The university is far different from what it used to be since my last time here,” he stated, reinforcing the need for partnerships with the private sector and local communities to expedite development.

    The Governor went further to state that government alone cannot fast track the speed of development without partnerships with the private sector and communities.

    He celebrated the former Governor,Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, who founded the University, as well as his predecessors and others who made various contributions to the university.

    “Late Dr. Mbadinuju is not celebrated enough here. We must find something significant to immortalize him.

    “I celebrate all men of goodwill who love and believe in education as the bridge to the future,” Governor Soludo further added

    Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Omenugha highlighted the university’s stable academic calendar, which has remained uninterrupted for several years.

    “We are proud to combine five years of academic success into this celebration,”

    “This stable academic calendar is a legacy we intend to sustain as we move forward.”Omenugha said

    Prof. Omenugha expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his numerous support to the university community, underscoring openness to partnerships that can enhance educational opportunities.

    “We appreciate the governor for his unwavering commitment to our institution,” she noted.

    Also addressing the audience, Pro-Chancellor of COOU, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu emphasized the importance of communal engagement and forward-thinking in education.

    “We have celebrated our heritage this week, and we intend to forge a vibrant future for this university,”.

    “Identifying a university community as an environment where disagreement can occur in a spirit of cordiality.

    “I encourage everyone to join in and actively participate in this journey.”he stated

    The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh commended the governor’s administration for prioritizing education as a foundation for progress.

    “Governor Soludo’s government remains unwavering in its mission to elevate education in our state,” she affirmed.

    A highlight of the event was the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree in food science and nutrition to Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the governor’s wife, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field, a field she is passionately dedicated to, especially with her “Healthy living with Nonye Soludo”

    In her remarks, the Governor’s wife thanked the institution for the award and also expressed her profound gratitude to all for their support.

    The global Islamic society, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT),has joyfully congratulated Alhaji Sefiu Adebowale Adewumi on his well-deserved appointment as the Acting Rector of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.

    In a press release signed by the National Public Relation Secretary, Alhaji Shamsideen Owolabi stated that his elevation is a remarkable achievement, reflecting years of unwavering dedication to education, leadership, and the service of humanity through faith and professionalism.

    Investigator news reports that Alhaji Adewumi,is a respected figure within NASFAT, currently serves as Chairman of the Zonal Council of Elders and was formerly the Zonal Chairman of the Osun Zone.

    His history with the institution is long and commendable. Until this appointment, he served in various capacities, notably as Deputy Rector, a position he held with distinction, earning widespread admiration for his disciplined and result-oriented leadership.

    The President of NASFAT, Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf,congratulated Alhaji Adewumi and praised the Governor of Osun State as well as the Governing Council of the college for their foresight in appointing a man of proven capacity.

    He described Alhaji Adewumi as a seasoned scholar and administrator with the acumen to manage both human and material resources effectively in today’s competitive academic environment.

    Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike, offered special prayers for Alhaji Adewumi’s success.

    He urged the new rector to remain guided by the principles of justice, humility, and devotion to Allah in discharging his duties.

    Over 4,500 residents have benefited from a two-day feeding programme organized by Fidelity Bank Plc in Abere and Modakeke communities in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

    The program, which saw to the distribution of essential food items, was executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment and the Esther Adeleke Foundation.

    Speaking during the distribution event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, represented by the Regional Bank Head, Southwest II, Mrs. Morenike Olabisi emphasized that the Fidelity Food Bank initiative underscores the bank’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community welfare.

    She noted that since the initiative was launched in April 2023 by Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, it has impacted communities across all six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

    According to Mrs Olabisi, “This is the third distribution exercise in Osun State this year, and our aim is to achieve zero hunger in Nigeria and achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2.

    Our CSR initiatives are designed not just to provide immediate relief, but to empower people and improve their livelihoods.

    “The bank will be donating 500 Point of Sale (POS) machines to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment for onward distribution to residents In addition to the food bank distribution.

    “These POS machines will serve as an income-generating tool for many families and small business owners across the state. Fidelity prides itself as a responsible organisation, and we place a huge premium on the wellbeing of our host communities”, she added.

    Responding to the gesture, the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke represented by the Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Bayo Ogungbangbe, commended Fidelity Bank for the social intervention programme and its continued support to the people.

    “This is not the first time Fidelity Bank is giving back to the state and this shows that the well-being of the people is of top priority to the bank.

    We are deeply grateful for their sacrifice and we urge other corporate organizations to emulate Fidelity Bank on this laudable initiative”, he stated.

    On her part, the founder of Esther Adeleke Foundation and the wife of Osun State Governor, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, emphasized that this is the second edition of the Fidelity Food Bank in collaboration with Esther Adeleke Foundation noting that, the first edition at the Asubiaro Hospital, Osogbo inspired them to do more.

    Her words, “My resolve to help the needy and alleviate poverty necessitated my partnership with Fidelity Bank in the distribution of food items to the needy.

    There is hardship in the country, and I am doing my best to support the governor of Osun State to cater for the needs of Osun people.

    “I want to appreciate the management of Fidelity bank for their dedication to the people of Osun state, and we want to assure the bank that they have our utmost support”, she added.

    The South-East Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives has called for the resignation of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Ishaq Oloyede, over the technical glitch recorded in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

    It also called for the examination to be completely cancelled and a new date fixed for the exercise across the country.

    In a statement signed by the caucus leader, Igariwey Iduma Enwo, the lawmakers described the examination’s outcome as a “national shame.”

    They said, “To this end, we call for the immediate suspension of those at the commanding heights of JAMB’s digital operations and examination logistics.

    “The registrar of JAMB is said to be a good man, but then, leadership must carry consequences. We, therefore, call on the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, to do the needful by resigning his appointment to pave the way for a thorough examination and remediation of the root causes of this national shame.

    “That’s the way to go in any civilised democracy, and we expect no less.”
    Oloyede admitted during a press briefing on May 14 that errors affected candidates’ performance during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, which was held across different centres in the country.

    “It is our culture to admit errors because we know that in spite of the best of our efforts, we are human; we are not perfect,” Oloyede said as he wiped tears off his eyes with a white handkerchief.

    He also announced that about 379,997 candidates would retake the examination, following widespread complaints of technical glitches, unusually low scores, and alleged irregularities in the questions and the answers during the exercise.

    JAMB said it established that a technical glitch affected 157 out of the 887 centres, leading to the candidates’ general low performance.

    But the South-East lawmakers said they were concerned because the five southeastern states they represent, “with no exception,” were directly impacted by “JAMB’s so-called ‘score distortions’.”

    According to them, the situation “is clearly a disastrous and catastrophic institutional failure that has shaken the trust and confidence of students and families across the country”.

    The lawmakers also said apologies were not enough to address the implications of the national embarrassment that attended JAMB’s conduct of the 2025 UTME examination.

    They added, “However, for the thousands of students across the five South Eastern states of Nigeria, the tainted and flawed outcome of the 2025 UTME examination has clearly stripped and denied them of any ‘equal and adequate educational opportunities”’.

    The society acknowledges the immense pressure faced by JAMB and recognizes the challenges involved in managing such a national assignment.
