    The Lagos State government is set to host the 18th edition of the renowned Culturati Festival, themed “Freedom Edition”, at Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos Island.

    This grand cultural event will run from December 5 to December 7, 2024, showcasing a vibrant fusion of African art, culture, and innovation.

    Investigator news reports that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu will serve as the Chief Host, while Idris Aregbe, the festival’s initiator and Lagos State Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, will lead the celebrations.

    The festival will kick off on December 5 with the Culturati Marketplace, an exclusive trade fair showcasing 100 SMEs from the from art, crafts, food, tourism and creativity economy.

    This initiative will boost Lagos’ economy and provide businesses with visibility, fostering collaborations with investors and dignitaries.

    On December 6, the Taste of Africa Lagos will tantalize attendees with authentic African cuisine, followed by the Culturati Festival and a dazzling Fashion Show.

    These events will celebrate African heritage through music, storytelling, and fashion, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.

    The event culminates on December 7 with the Gala and Award Night, honouring individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to cultural preservation and innovation. The evening promises elegance, entertainment, and recognition of Africa’s rich heritage.

    Culturati, Africa’s leading cultural fusion platform, goes beyond entertainment by empowering youth through its academy, which has trained over 10,000 individuals in creative and digital skills. This year’s festival will also launch the Culturati Community Library, promoting literacy and cultural education.

    Hosting the event at Freedom Park, a historic symbol of resilience, underscores Lagos’ role as a cultural and tourism hub.

    The Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, presented the Certificate of Registration to Kiti Face Lifestyle Ltd today in his office located at the 2nd Floor, Cabinet Wing, Governor’s Office, Ado Ekiti.

    Barrister Ojo-Lanre commended the company for its adherence to the rules governing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) in Ekiti State .

    Mrs. Bose Idika, who was accompanied by three lawyers, said her company understands the laws of Ekiti State in this regard and commended Governor Oyebanji for making Ekiti a state of Ease of Doing Business.

    She disclosed that her company would be coming back to the Bureau for an MOU on tourism events aimed to polish the cultural aspect of Ekiti value system .

    The much awaited Destination Lagos Awards and Oju lbile Eko Beauty Pageant Show organized by a foremost Lagos tourism practitioner,Hon Apata Samson Nunayon has continued to receive more boost and endorsement as an international recognized tourism body called African Travel Commision (ATC) Ghana has thrown their weight towards the event through an endorsement letter.

    This is coming shortly after the Lagos State Government through its Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture and the Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria, the apex body of tourism association in Nigeria releases an endorsement letter, throwing heavy weight behind the project.

    Following the media reports being speculated on social that the Nollywood veteran Olu Jacobs is dead, his family on Sunday has dispel the social media death rumours and speculations as false.

    The first son of the acting legend, Soji, stated this in X handle  that his octogenarian father is not dead as speculated online.

    Soji shared a video wherein the iconic thespian was seen calmly seated while he had his beards shaved.

    During the activity, the older and frail-looking Jacobs was heard having a terse dialogue with his barber and those around him.

    The “death” of Jacobs, 82, has been rumoured a number of times since November 2021 when his actress wife, Joke Silva, opened up on the health struggles of her husband. But the family has debunked such incidents at several times, posting videos and photos of their patriarch to discredit rumour-mongers.

    Back in 2021, Silva, the 62-year-old respected actress and longtime wife of Jacobs, revealed that her husband has been battling with Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) for a couple of years, hence, his absence from movie screens.

    “He is dealing with issues and it has been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with Lewy Body. It is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson’s type of disease, it affects the brain so you don’t see the shaking. It affects the person,” she had said in a Channels Television interview.

    “It’s been hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and also on family members as well. We have gone through it over the past couple of years and we thank God.

    “We have gone through some times and situations recently that I wish I had the old you here so I don’t battle these times on my own but we are grateful for the moment of clarity. I miss the times we worked together,” she added.

    The veteran actor, who won a lifetime achievement award at the Africa International Film Festival Awards in Lagos the same year, would later share a frail-looking picture of himself on his Instagram handle, attracting a cocktail of sympathy, best wishes and prayers from friends and fans.

    The legendary actor has also been seen at selected social functions, aided by his loving wife while fans continue to hope for his recovery.

    The much-anticipated 10th edition of the annual Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) came with outstanding surprises ‘Breath of Life’ was the biggest winner of the night, clinching six categories including ‘Best Lead Actor’, ‘Best Supporting Actor’, ‘Best Supporting Actress’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Sound Design’ and ‘Best Movie’.

    The annual event, which saw the African film and television industry come together to honour outstanding talents and creativity in the industry. From gripping performances to captivating storytelling, took place on Saturday night at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos,as Wale Ojo, Kehinde Bankole, Layi Wasabi, and Demola Adedoyin were among the winners at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).

    Bankole defeated Funke Akindele and Ireti Doyle to clinch the ‘Best Lead Actress’ category,Ojo won the ‘Best Lead Actor’ category while Demola snagged the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award for their roles in ‘Breath of Life’ respectively.

    The award ceremony was hosted by ace presenter IK Osakioduwa, with notable industry personalities including Joke Silva, Sola Sobowale, Chidi Mokeme, Richard Mofe Damijo, Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Noah, Kunle Afolayan, Mo Abudu, Odunlade Adekola, Kanayo O Kanyo and a host of others in attendance, which featured captivating performances from music stars such as Adekunle Gold, Chike, Seyi Sodimu, and Shaffy Bello.

    In the same vein, Nollywood Actress Funke Akindele has reacted to the outcome of the just concluded African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) were her film “A Tribe Called Judah” missed out on all nominations.
    Akindele’s reaction came in the form of a cryptic post on her Instagram story—a dark, blank page, possibly reflecting her disappointment with the loss,despite being nominated in three categories—Best Movie, Best Lead Actress, and Best Makeup Artist—the movie fell short, with Kehinde Bankole clinching the Best Lead Actress award for “Adire” and “Breath of Life” securing the Best Movie title.
