    Hon Jakande Declares War On Indiscriminate Refuse Dumping, Launches Joint Security Task Force.

    The Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande, has launched a crackdown on environmental offenders, declaring a state of emergency on sanitation in the community.

    The move follows a surge in indiscriminate refuse dumping, particularly along foreshore areas like Vono and Agege Motor Road.

    Jakande has announced a zero-tolerance policy for illegal waste disposal, warning that the council will restore environmental sanity.

    A high-power joint task force has been inaugurated to enforce the policy, comprising security agencies, environmental bodies, traditional leaders, and community representatives.

    The task force will monitor, arrest, and prosecute offenders, while collaborating with LAWMA for efficient waste collection.

    The committee will be overseen by senior council officials, including the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and key department heads.

    Residents are urged to comply with disposal protocols and report violations. “This menace is unacceptable. We will restore environmental sanity,” Jakande warned, as the council affirms a zero-tolerance policy for illegal waste disposal.

    “The era of unchecked environmental abuse is over.”he stated

    In a swift follow-up action, the newly inaugurated Joint Task Force committee apprehended three persons for indiscriminate disposal of refuse on Friday 9 , December 2026,around 11pm.

    Investigator news gathered that they are currently in police custody and will be transferred to the task force office, Oshodi, for further processing in line with Lagos State’s environmental laws.

    This arrest is in line with the State government’s zero policy for environmental infractions. Indiscriminate waste disposal poses serious risks to public health, drainage systems, and overall environmental sustainability, and offenders will be held accountable accordingly.

    The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has received the management team of the Lagos State Parks & Gardens Agency (LASPARK) led by its General Manager, Mrs. Adetoun Popoola (née Nelson), at the Ikeja House.

    The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between LASPARK and Ikeja Local Government to promote environmental sustainability and create a greener, cleaner Ikeja.

    In her remarks,Mrs. Popoola outlined LASPARK’s commitment to developing green infrastructure, maintaining parks and gardens, and promoting tree planting across the state.

    She revealed LASPARK’s plan to plant 25,000 trees across Lagos State between now and July 14, 2026,noting that Ikeja holds a special place for her and assured the Chairman of LASPARK’s readiness to ensure that the capital city takes a leading role in environmental beautification and green expansion.

    He assured Ikeja Local Government’s full support for efforts to promote environmental sustainability and enhance the community’s beauty and livability.

    The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has launched a major drainage desilting exercise as part of efforts to keep the area clean and safe.

    Investigator news reports that this move is aimed at ensuring the free flow of water and waste, reducing flooding, and enhancing environmental sanitation.

    TAT’s administration sees this as part of its broader agenda to entrench the Renewed Hope vision at the grassroots level through practical and people-centered governance.

    In a statement released by his Media handlers,Aare TAT emphasized that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility,urging residents to maintain clean surroundings and use PSP operators for waste disposal.

    The Impactful Futures Initiative (IFI), a non-governmental organization, has urged residents of Ilasamaja in Lagos State to prioritize environmental cleanliness to prevent disease outbreaks.

    This call was made during a sensitization program held on September 20, 2025, to commemorate World Cleanup Day.

    Speaking at the sensitization program,the founder of IFI, Comrade Sikiru Akibu (Zinko), encouraged residents to develop a habit of regularly cleaning their surroundings, highlighting the global theme of Textile and Fashion Waste.

    Investigator news reports that the advocacy featured a clean-up exercise along several streets, including Aladesanyin, Ifelodun, and Baale, where participants picked litter, filled potholes, and raised awareness on converting waste to cash.

    Acknowledging the efforts of the NGO,the Baale of Ilasamaja Kingdom, Alhaji High Chief Fatai Aberejo, praised the initiative, noting that a dirty environment promotes the spread of diseases like diarrhea, malaria, typhoid, and cholera,the latter of which recently affected parts of Lagos.
