    The Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council, Hon. Alabi Kolade David,has highlighted the significance of the harmonization and codification of all Bye-Laws into a single document, mentioning that some Bye-Laws are currently only executive orders .

     

    He stated this yesterday,12th August,2024 when he attended a Public hearing on Proposed Bye-Laws 2024 organized by the Bariga Local Council Legislative Arm which took place at the Ultramodern Bariga Legislative Hall.

    In his address, the chairman expressed his gratitude to the esteemed Leaders, Apex Leaders, Councillors, Supervisors, Distinguished guests, and the Gentlemen of the Press for their presence at the hearing.

    Hon Alabi commended the Leader of the Bariga Legislative Arm and the Councillors for creating a conducive atmosphere for collaboration.

    Alabi continued by emphasizing the administration’s giant stride.

    “Under the Public Private Partnership (PPP), We are building 94 terraces of flats in Bariga, our equitable contribution is the land. The PPP company has promised to construct 5 modern schools in Bariga, which is ongoing as we speak with modern furniture, in addition to that, the investors have covenant with us to construct Ajidagan roads that will lead to other link roads”.

    “The income generated from this housing project will be brought back to solve the infrastructural decay. By the time we round up our administration, we would have done 60 Roads, 21 roads are currently being attended to which will soon be delivered. We have 366 Roads in Bariga, what we have done is to draw massive Developmental plans for our successors.”he stated

     

    Investigator news reports that one of the key issues being reviewed was street naming in Bariga, with a committee already appointed to assess the compliance of streets with legal requirements. The chairman also announced plans to rename certain streets in honor of deserving personalities in Bariga.

    The chairman spoke about some executive orders initiated by the Executive Arms which are: Bariga Road Maintenance Agency (BROMA), Establishment of Bariga Television (Bariga TV) and the Bariga Investment and Property Venture.

    The Leader of the Bariga Local Council Legislative Arm, Hon. Temitope Okanlawon, presented a total of 131 proposed Bills from 2018, 2021 to 2024, covering various aspects of community development.

    The event witnessed the attendance of APC Party Leaders, Former Council Chairman, Former Sole Administrator, Bariga Chief of Staff, Bariga Supervisory Councillors, Former Councillors, Bariga Management Team, Traditional Leaders, Market Leaders, CDC, CDA, NURTW, TOOAN, Students Bodies, Youth Organizations.

    Somolu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar,’ has once again brought relief to the residents of Somolu through the “Ounje Eko” initiative, offering cash refunds alongside discounted food items.

    The event, which took place at the Agunbiade Primary School, Somolu, featured essential goods like rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, and pepper, all sold at a 25% discount provided by the Lagos State Government, under the facilitation of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

    Joining Hon. Salawu were key figures including the Lagos State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Engr. Adigun Olalekan Ibrahim, Hon. Ayo Hector Coker, Supervisor for Agric, Social & Community Services, and Mr. Tito Bakare, Head of Department, Agric, Social, and Community Services in Somolu LG.

     

    Their presence underscored the importance of the initiative in alleviating the financial strain on the local population.

    In his remarks, Hon. Salawu expressed profound gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering support, which has empowered local governments to implement such impactful programs. He emphasized the significance of these efforts in providing much-needed relief to the community during challenging economic times.

    Residents who were full of praise for the initiative, noted that the combination of the 25% discount and cash refunds significantly eased their financial burdens.

    Encomiums and prayers rented the air on Raji Abayomi Street of the Ogunoloko ward of Oshodi-Isolo local government as the Executive chairman of local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede commenced interlocking pavement placement on the street.

    The street which has long been left in a deplorable state received the council chairman’s attention as he mobilised contractors to site to give the street which is one of the longest and major connecting roads within the council a facelift.

    At the site on Saturday, most residents commended the chairman for his support and contribution to the development of their domain through the reconstruction of the street.

    Speaking to lnvestigator news,a resident who could not hide his excitement showered prayers and encomiums on the council chairman, saying the intervention on the road will pave way for more robust business transactions and ease movement of human and vehicular activities.

    He said; “I am delighted and highly appreciative of the chairman’s intervention on reconstructing the street which has long been neglected in its deplorable state.”

    “This street is a major street connecting other streets leading to the international airport road, on its completion, it will help us in our business transactions and ease vehicular movement of goods and services. Our prayer for him is that God Almighty will continue to strengthen, grant him sound health and long life.”he stated.

    The council chairman,Hon Oloyede assured the residents that the street will be completed on record time as he urged them to be patience and cooperate with the contractors as they work day and night to ensure its earliest completion.

    The Anambra State Government has made a clarification that the exit of Mr. Chido Obidiegwu as the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) is just a routine redeployment and not a sack as being insinuated by some sections of the media.

    In a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Mr Christian Aburime, stated that the clarification became necessary to correct the wrong impressions being created in the minds of the public that Mr. Obidiegwu was sacked, noting he was only redeployed and not sacked as being erroneously reported.

    It would be recalled that the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, recently approved the appointment of a new Managing Director for ABS as part of ongoing reshuffling and rejigging of government operations.

    The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has approved the replacement of Mr. Chido Obidiegwu as the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) with the appointment of Mr. Christopher Osemedua Molokwu, as the new Managing Director of ABS. The new appointment takes immediate effect

    Mr. Molokwu who hails from Delta State brings to the role a wealth of experience as a seasoned media practitioner and an accomplished broadcaster with a demonstrated history of excellence in the media production industry.

    His career spans over 16 years, during which he has garnered vast expertise in strategic planning, customer service, event management, and social media.

    Prior to his appointment, Mr. Molokwu served as the Programs Manager at Wazobia FM Onitsha and as Head of Sports at Steam Broadcasting Limited (96.9 Cool FM).

    Investigator news reports that he is a product of the University of Benin, where he earned a degree in English Language and Literature, Mr. Molokwu is a member of the Institute of Disaster Management and Control, as well as an Associate Member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).

    His leadership and professional skills in media management, community engagement, and social services make him well-positioned to lead ABS into a new era of growth and innovation.

    Governor Soludo thanked Mr. Obidiegwu for his services as the former MD of ABS and wishing him well in his future endeavours, Mr Governor also commends the new MD to key into the administration’s vision of transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous state.

    In another development,Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo also approved the appointment of Mr. Chuka Ikechukwu Nnabuife as the Managing Director of the Civic and Social Reformation Office.

    This appointment is part of Governor Soludo’s commitment to fostering civic responsibility, social reform, and cultural advancement in the state.

    Mr. Nnabuife brings an impressive pedigree spanning over 35 years in journalism, media administration, and the arts. A journalist of international repute, Nnabuife is a Fellow of both the Nigerian Guild of Editors (FNGE) and the Society of Nigerian Artists (FSNA).

    His dynamic career has taken him across all continents, except Australia, as he continues to promote societal discourse through media, community leadership, and his wide-ranging artistic ventures.

    A prolific writer and author of nine books, including co-authoring two, Mr. Nnabuife has also directed and produced two films, leaving an indelible mark on the Nigerian art and media landscape. His remarkable career is punctuated by over 40 awards and recognitions, attesting to his innovative approach to media and communication.

    Mr. Nnabuife holds a Master of Science in Media and Communication from Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, specialising in Media Enterprise. His academic journey also includes a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Calabar, a Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja, and a Higher National Diploma in Fine and Applied Arts from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. He further pursued professional certification from the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Nigeria.

    Prior to this appointment, Mr. Nnabuife served as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation from July 2018 to September 2023, and the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of National Light Newspaper from July 2014 to June 2018, among other notable editorial positions.

    A knight of the St. John International Order of the Roman Catholic Church, Mr. Nnabuife’s leadership and expertise are expected to significantly impact civic and social reformation efforts across Anambra State.

    Governor Soludo went further to congratulates Mr. Nnabuife on his new role and expresses confidence in his ability to drive meaningful reforms that will enhance the cultural and social fabric of our state.

    The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo kLocal Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has emerged the overall winner of Nigeria Local Government Chairmen Merit award on infrastructure.

    The announcement was made via a letter that was submitted to the office of the council chairman on Monday by the organizers , congratulating and informing him of his emergence.

    Part of the letter reads; “The panel of judges and nomination committee of Nigerian Local Government Chairman Merit Award (LOGMA) have unanimously chosen as the worthy recipient of the esteemed award for 2024.

    You have successfully passed through the various performance assessment stages; verification of report from our field officers, opinion poll, in response to our call for nominations on Radio, television stations and national dailies. All these records show that you have made exceptional and outstanding contributions in grassroots development in Nigeria”.

    The letter continued,” your outstanding achievements in the area of infrastructure, this award is thereby package to celebrate excellence and enhance your present and future political endeavours.”

    The letter further revealed that “Honourable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is being expected as the Special Guest of Honour while Senator Yaroe Binos Dada, Chairman Senate committee on states and local government affairs, will be the chairman of the occasion” at the presentation day which will be held in Abuja.

    Upon receiving the information, delighted Oloyede appreciated the organisers of the award for their due diligence and also eulogized the teeming residents of the local government for their love and continued support for his administration. He promised to continue to work for the development and progress of the people who elected him.

    Staff of Isolo local council development area today turned out en masse for the monthly staff forum meeting.

    The council’s multi-purpose hall was filled to the brim with employees drawn from, not only the council headquarters, but the respective area offices and other duty posts apparently to welcome the new council manager, Mrs. Mojisola Folaremi Ogabi.

    In his address, council boss, Olasoju Adebayo thanked the gathering of staff for being the engine that has been driving the council.

    He urged them to take their health serious by undergoing routine tests and seeking medical attention whenever the need to do so arises.

    Updating the present employees, Olasoju reeled out ongoing projects assuring them of completion in due course. Among such undertakings of the council were Finance block, gate house/rebranding of the council premises and upgrading of Alagbeji PHC, which upon completion, will also serve as staff clinic.

    Investigator news gathered that various categories of cash prize award such as best departmental staff award, diligence & dedication award etc were discussed apart from the cash gift to ten housekeepers who mounted the floor of the day’s meeting on his request.

    Hon Olasoju went on to announce to the gathering that plans have been concluded to hold an educational programme “welcome back to school” before the month ends as he prayed that the new council manager’s tenure bring good tidings for all and sundry.

    In her own words, council manager, Mrs. Mojisola Ogabi charged the staff to be united and eschew bitterness among themselves if the overall good of the council and individuals manning it must be achieved.

    The day’s meeting had curtains drawn on it ceremoniously as all August-born among the staff joined dignitaries on the high table to perform the cake-cutting.

    As part of its effort to cushion the economic hardship facing the country,the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, has surprised residents at the Ounje Eko discount center located at Agunbiade Primary School with refund of 50% in cash on all purchased items bought.

    The event, which was part of the Lagos State Government’s initiative to reduce the cost of essential food items,originally offered a 25% discount under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Ounje Eko program.

    The Council’s helmsman who was joined by key officials, including Hon. Yomi Osunkoya, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, Hon. Mike Oikeh, and Hon. Ayo Hector Coker among other Council and community Chiefs, who accompanied him to the makeshift market added to the relief by personally refunding 50% in cash on all purchased items.

    Investigator news reports that residents were thrilled with the unexpected gere generosity, which significantly eased their financial burdens.

    This surprise visit comes on the heels of Chairman Dullar’s recent distribution of N110 million in cash grants to 4,000 residents of Somolu over four phases, demonstrating his commitment to supporting the community through these challenging times.

    The Ounje Eko program, which is aimed at making staple foods like rice, beans, bread, egg and garri more affordable, has been praised for its effectiveness, with Chairman Dullar’s additional contributions further cementing his popularity among Somolu residents and beyond.

    In a bid to intensify the sustained efforts aimed at alleviating the economic hardship faced by residents, the Executive Chairman, Bariga Local Council, Hon. Kolade Alabi David, is set to disburse N25 million cash intervention fund in the upcoming phase three intervention progamme.

    The event which is strictly by invitation will take place on Wednesday,4 August at the New Bariga council hall and would witness 500 beneficiaries go home with the sum of N50,000each to help boost their businesses.

    Investigator news gathered that in Phase I and Phase II respectively, Hon. Kolade Alabi disbursed cash intervention funds for residents across various wards in the community. Also, other interventions such as health care scheme for pregnant women, aged; food distribution for Christians and Muslims were also carried out.

    Meanwhile, the 16-man committee led by Segun Adesanya has identified and selected eligible beneficiaries across the eight wards in Bariga to benefit from the phase III intervention progamme.

    According to him,”500 beneficiaries will receive 50,000 naira each as an intervention to alleviate the hardship faced by our people.”

    “We identified all the beneficiaries per ward. The selection process which is fair and transparent prioritises people with disabilities, the aged and the poorest of the poor in Bariga.”he said.

    It will be recalled that Bariga local government Intervention Programme stands as a testament to the council’s commitment to supporting its residents amid the hardship and hunger faced by the vulnerable,as Hon. Kolade Alabi remains committed to providing conditional cash transfers, business grants and other forms of support for the most vulnerable households in Bariga through the intervention program

    Adesanya went further to state that some APC party faithfuls would be getting business grants and life-investment property to compensate their efforts and contributions in the party.
