    Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and rural transformation in the state.

    He made this known during the 2025 Takete-Ide Day Celebration, where he was represented by Deputy Governor Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo.

    Ododo assured the community of intervention on the Takete-Ide–Amuro–Ayede Amuro road and other developmental projects.

    The Governor described Takete-Ide as a land rich in culture, human resources, and heritage, commending the community for its unity and commitment to self-help development initiatives.

    “It’s a great honor to stand before you, my good people of Takete-Ide. This land is rich in culture, rich in human resources, and rich in heritage.”

    “You have produced great men and women who have distinguished themselves in different walks of life,”he stated.

    The Governor went further to express appreciation to the community for producing the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo,whom he described as a “committed, visionary, and loyal son” of Kogi State.

    “Under our leader, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, I worked closely with your son, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, for eight years.

    “Today, we’re still working together in my administration. Kogi State is grateful to Takete-Ide for giving us such a dedicated and dependable son,” the Governor said

    He directed the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) to make the road motorable through grading and filling of critical portions with laterite as a temporary measure.

    The Governor also pledged government support for the completion of the Traditional Ruler’s Palace Project and highlighted several ongoing projects in Takete-Ide, including the remodeling of the Government Day Secondary School and the GYB Health Centre.

    He announced that furniture had been approved for the school and assured that work would continue on the health facility as part of the over 200 primary healthcare centres being remodelled across the state.

    He thanked the people of Takete-Ide for their consistent support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the party had maintained its dominance in the ward since 2019.

    Ododo commended the community for promoting their cultural heritage and urged them to continue to pass down traditional values to the younger generation.

    He also acknowledged the impact of the AGILE programme in the community through which many schoolgirls had benefitted from cash grants, and youths trained in modern agricultural techniques and agribusiness,pledging to continue empowering youths.

    “We’ll continue to empower our youths, helping them move from the streets of idleness to the fields of productivity,” he assured.

    He reiterated his administration’s resolve to strengthen security at the grassroots through the recruitment of local hunters and the pensionable appointment of members of the Vigilante Service, many of whom are indigenes of Takete-Ide.

    Ododo commended the people for promoting their cultural heritage, describing culture as “our identity, our pride, and a unifying force,” and urged them to continue to pass down traditional values to the younger generation.

    He called for continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the President’s reforms have opened more financial opportunities for subnational governments to deliver meaningful projects to their people.

    “We were able to remodel your school and health centre because we have access to more resources, thanks to the President’s reforms,” he said.

    The Governor concluded by extending warm greetings to the people of Takete-Ide and promising that his administration wouldn’t forget the community, adding that his personal donation to the Palace and the Youth Entrepreneurial Centre would be communicated through Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo.

    The 2025 Takete-Ide Day Celebration, organised by a Central Planning Committee chaired by Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, had in attendance top government officials, traditional rulers, and sons and daughters of the community both at home and in the diaspora.

    Other dignitaries who accompanied the Deputy Governor to the event included the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojoma; Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe.

    Others are Special Advisers to the Governor, Hon. Aboh Ibrahim and Hon. Alilu Yakubu Erosion; Deputy Chief of Staff, Hilary Ojoma Egwudah; Executive Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu; State Coordinator, AGILE Project, Hon. Tijani Oricha, among others.

    The Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area, Hon. Ademola Bello; House of Assembly Member representing Mopamuro Constituency, Hon. Olawumi Jacob; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Cultural Integration, Hon. Sunday Moses David Alumo, also graced the occasion.

    In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, and the National President of the Takete-Ide Progressive Union, Prince Richard Dare Fiki, thanked the State Government for the ongoing infrastructural development in the community and appealed for the rehabilitation of the Orokere Amuro–Takete-Ide Amuro road to ease transportation.

    Investigator news reports that the event featured colourful cultural performances, traditional displays, and warm receptions for dignitaries.

    The Kogi State Government has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Major General Waidi Shaibu, a son of the state, as the new Chief of Army Staff.

    In a press statement issued in Lokoja by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo,Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo described the appointment as a testament to the President’s commitment to fairness, equity, and merit recognition.

    The Governor noted that Major General Shaibu’s elevation is a source of pride for the people of Kogi State, citing his professionalism, discipline, and dedication to duty.

    Ododo expressed confidence in Shaibu’s ability to strengthen the Nigerian Army and improve national security.

    The Member of the House of Representatives representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency,Hon. Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo (BAO),has denied allegations of involvement in the arrest of a journalist over a purported ₦350 million constituency project scandal.

    In a press release signed by the Media Aide to the MHR,Mr Shofolu Gbeminiyi stated that the allegations are entirely false, malicious, and defamatory.

    According to the statement, Hon. Olabinjo was not involved in, aware of, or connected to any alleged arrest of a journalist as the issue referenced in the publication concerns a personal legal action independently pursued by an individual who felt defamed in a private capacity, with no relation to Hon. Olabinjo or his office.

    The office also noted that the allegations of ₦350 million siphoned constituency funds are baseless, pointing out that the same source had earlier published a conflicting figure of ₦450 million.

    This inconsistency, the office said, exposes the deliberate falsehood and lack of credibility behind the claims.

    The statement went further to clarified that constituency projects are implemented by designated government agencies under the supervision of the National Assembly, and lawmakers neither receive nor directly manage such funds.

    “The Office of Hon. Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo (BAO), Member of the House of Representatives representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, has noted with concern a misleading and politically motivated publication circulating online.

    “The report falsely alleges that Hon. Olabinjo was involved in the arrest of a journalist over a purported ₦350 million constituency project scandal.”

    “We wish to state unequivocally that this allegation is entirely false, malicious, and defamatory.”

    “At no point was Hon. Olabinjo involved in, aware of, or connected to any alleged arrest of a journalist.”

    “The issue referenced in the publication concerns a personal legal action independently pursued by an individual who felt defamed in a private capacity. It has no relation whatsoever to Hon. Olabinjo or his office.”

    Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has lauded his Ekiti State counterpart, Biodun Oyebanji, for his effective governance and leadership.

    Ododo described Oyebanji as well-prepared for office, citing his achievements in various sectors, noting that there is verifiable and convincing evidence across the critical sectors of the economy that point to the fact Oyebanji has fulfilled the social contract he signed with the people of the Ekiti State.

    The Kogi Governor Ododo stated this in Ilawe Ekiti, on Tuesday 21, October 2025,while commissioning the 21- kilometre Ikere-Ilawe road, and the renovated General Hospital, projects of the Governor Oyebanji administration.

    Ododo praised Oyebanji for his commitment to developing Ekiti State’s infrastructure, human capital, tourism, agriculture, and youth development.

    He commended Oyebanji for hiring local contractors, demonstrating his belief in developing human resources stating that Oyebanji’s vision for Ekiti State will outlive his tenure.

    “With what I’ve been briefed, this road started in 2022 through self- financing under the last administration, but could not go far due to some difficulties. Once a leader is focused and forward looking, his vision will outlive transitions.

    “With your governance and leadership in Ekiti, you’ve demonstrated that government is about vision and performance. With what I’ve seen and the solid support you’re getting from Ekiti people, it is evident that you came solidly prepared for governance.

    “Even your opponents knew that you had performed well and they knew that BAO had bowed their heads with great performance. Ekiti and Kogi States do not just share common boundaries, we share a history and close ties of brotherhood and the development of our people.

    “Let me assure you that all the progressive governors are behind you and I hope that you will continue with this tempo till 2030. We have the same vision, which is to serve the people and nothing more.

    “I want you to remain focused and don’t be distracted by the confusion being caused by the members of the opposition. You’re a quiet person, but your actions speak louder in your performance. I’m proud of your achievements”, Gov Ododo said.

    Addressing the crowd of residents that thronged the venue of the ceremony,Oyebanji revealed that 10 roads will be commissioned to mark his administration’s third anniversary and six state-of-the-art hospitals will also be commissioned to improve healthcare services.

    Oyebanji stated that his administration has not borrowed a dime to fund capital projects,he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms and for making more resources available to the subnational.

    “I haven’t borrowed a dime to fund any of the capital projects going on in Ekiti State and this is because of the audacious reforms being carried out by President Tinubu that has made more monies available to states”.

    Speaking about the initial hurdles that stalled the completion of the road, Oyebanji, said: “We inherited this road from the last administration. That we have completed it speaks volume of the gains of continuity of vision and when there is alignment of vision, the people will see the gains and this is what we are seeing today.

    “I congratulate the people of Ilawe Ekiti for these landmark achievements, because there are two projects to be commissioned here today and all the people of the state on the third anniversary of this administration”.

    Speaking on the third anniversary, the governor revealed that a total of six hospitals, with state -of -art facilities will be commissioned to serve the people at the grassroots, saying the rehabilitated general hospital in Ilawe Ekiti will facilitate improved quality healthcare for the masses.

    The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi, applauded the Governor for clearing all hurdles and ensured speedy completion of the road, after the initial setback that nearly stalled the readiness of the road for usage.

    Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has launched the distribution and installation of 30 units of 500kVA transformers across the state’s three senatorial districts of the state 

    This initiative aims to improve electricity supply, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the overall quality of life for Kogi residents.

    Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on Monday 20, October 2025,at the Government House, Lokoja, Governor Ododo described the event as a major step forward in fulfilling his promise to light up communities and empower the people.

    He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, which has made governance easy in Kogi State.

    “I’m proud to say that our administration is replicating the good work of President Tinubu,” Ododo said.

    “We’re committed to developing our state’s infrastructure, and this electrification project is a key component of our agenda.”he said

    Ododo noted that the distribution of the 30 transformers would be guided by fairness and balanced development across the three senatorial districts.

    He urged residents to protect the electrical equipment from vandalism and ensure its effective use for the benefit of all.

    The South West Arewa Community for Asiwaju 2027 has reaffirmed its commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, intensifying grassroots mobilization across the South West region.

    As part of this ongoing political engagement,the community led by Director General Alhaji Shehu Usman Jibrin,visited Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, Member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Lagos State, to strengthen collaboration and deepen political awareness.

    In his speech,Alhaji Jibrin reiterated the community’s unwavering support for President Tinubu, citing his leadership and economic reforms,describing him as a unifying leader whose administration continues to promote inclusiveness, stability, and economic reform.

    The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo on Thursday 16, October 2025,welcomed the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, on a courtesy visit to the Government House in Lokoja.

     

    The Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu,who received the AGF expressed delight at the visit,praising Fagbemi for his distinguished service to the nation.

    Salifu commended Fagbemi for his leadership role in the Presidential Pardon Committee, which granted clemency to deserving individuals,noting that as the Attorney General of the Federation, he represents hope for the common Nigerian.

    He prayed for God’s continued guidance and strength for the AGF in his service to the nation, while wishing him a successful program in the state.

     

    Investigator news reports that Chief Fagbemi thanked Governor Ododo and the government of Kogi State for their hospitality, stating that he was in the state to deliver a lecture at the Federal University, Lokoja.

    The Kogi State Government, led by Governor Ahmed Ododo, has intensified its efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

    In a major operation, the combined security forces, led by the State Security Adviser, Cdr Jerry Omodara (rtd), demolished and set ablaze bandits’ camps and hideouts in Aherin-Bunu community, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Areas.

    Speaking to journalists at the location on Thursday, Omodara said that two wounded bandits and two fake doctors were apprehended in a settlement in Aherin-Bunu community

    The security Adviser, acting on intelligence information, noted that the security agencies, arrested two wounded bandits who were receiving treatment from local doctors in the settlements.

    According to Omodara, the bandits had sustained gunshot injuries in a previous encounter with security forces and were receiving apprehended, including the doctors

    Following the arrest, Governor Usman Ododo directed that the bandits’ camps and settlements be wiped out.

    Acting on the governor’s directive, the combined security forces demolished the camps, including a makeshift clinic, and destroyed the bandits’ farmland and farm produce”.

    He warned that anyone caught perpetrating, abetting, or collaborating with criminals would be dealt with, regardless of their status or identity as the security agencies have saturated the state, making it difficult for bandits to hide.

    “We received intel that two bandits were receiving treatment in a settlement in Aherin-Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

    “We swiftly deployed security personnel and arrested the two wounded bandits.

    “The Governor directed that any house used for treating bandits should be demolished.”

    “We’re arresting fake doctors treating them and warning that anyone perpetrating, abetting, or collaborating with criminals will be dealt with, regardless of their status.”

    “We won’t accept that and we’re not going to allow it,” Omodara said.

    Omodara stressed that the operation is part of the Kogi State Government’s ongoing onslaught against banditry and other criminal activities, which is yielding unprecedented results.

    “Gov. Ahmed Ododo reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state,” he said.

    The Federal Government has announced a significant policy shift, scrapping Mathematics as a compulsory subject for Arts and Humanities students seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

    This decision, announced by the Federal Ministry of Education,through its spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, explained that the decision was part of the newly revised National Guidelines for Entry Requirements into Nigerian Tertiary Institutions,aimed to remove unnecessary barriers to higher education while maintaining academic standards.

    Investigator news reports that this major policy shift means that Senior Secondary School students pursuing arts-related courses will no longer need to secure a credit pass in Mathematics in their WAEC or NECO examinations before gaining admission into universities or polytechnics.

    According to the new guidelines, Mathematics remains a compulsory requirement for Science, Technology, and Social Science courses, while English Language remains mandatory across all disciplines.

    For Arts and Humanities students, only relevant subjects to their chosen field will now be required alongside English.

    The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, described the move as a deliberate effort to expand access to tertiary education and create a more inclusive academic environment.

    “This reform is about giving every student a fair opportunity to pursue higher education in their area of strength. It’s part of our commitment to making the education system more flexible and responsive to students’ diverse talents and interests,” Dr. Alausa said.
