    In a bid to foster community growth and development,The President of UFUK Dialogue International, Mr. Emrah İlgen,has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Aare Taoheed Adebayo to discuss potential partnership opportunities that will benefit residents and promote collective progress.

    The President who was received by the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA,Aare Tahoeed Adebayo Taiwo stated that their visit is aimed to strengthen collaboration between UFUK Dialogue International and Ejigbo LCDA, with a focus on promoting community development and empowerment.

    During the meeting, both parties discussed potential partnership opportunities in various areas, including youth empowerment, leadership development, peace building, and community growth.

    Provide leadership development training and mentorship for community leaders and collaborate with the LCDA on projects that stimulate economic growth and improve living standards.

    Responding the Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Aare Taiwo assured them of the Local government support and engagement in bringing developmental projects that would take Ejigbo to a greater heights.

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has introduced comprehensive tax reforms aimed at modernizing Nigeria’s fiscal system, improving compliance through digitization, and expanding the revenue base without burdening households.

    These reforms, combined with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) initiatives to strengthen formal remittance channels, are expected to significantly increase diaspora inflows, boost FX liquidity, and encourage more investments into the Nigerian economy.

    Investigator news reports that key features of the reforms include the introduction of electronic invoicing for VAT, streamlined dispute resolution mechanisms, and restructuring of tax agencies for clearer accountability.

    The CBN has also introduced the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) to make it easier for Nigerians abroad to open and operate accounts, alongside improved remittance frameworks through licensed International Money Transfer Operators (IMTOs).

    These reforms directly benefit diaspora remittances by ensuring better exchange rates, safer transactions, and greater transparency. Families in Nigeria will enjoy improved value from funds sent from abroad, while entrepreneurs and small businesses can now leverage digital compliance to access financing and scale their operations.

    In Canada, Ogbueshi Sydney Chinedu Allanah, a prominent chieftain of the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) in Delta State, is presently leading an advocacy campaign to sensitize Nigerians in the diaspora on how to maximize these opportunities.

    Through cluster interactions, and community forums across Canadian cities, Ogbueshi Allanah is educating Nigerians on the benefits of using formal remittance channels and exploring new investment opportunities tied to the reforms.

    The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar,on 25 August 2025, held a high-level bilateral meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, Mr José Múcio Monteiro Filho, in Brasília on the sidelines of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to Brazil.

    Also present in attendance was General Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces.

    The meeting focused on strengthening defence relations, advancing defence-industrial cooperation, and enhancing maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, among other defence-related issues.

    The Minister underscored Nigeria’s commitment to the full implementation of the Nigeria-Brazil Defence Agreement signed on 24 June 2025.

    He described the agreement as a strategic instrument for expanding collaboration, deepening technology transfer, and building industrial partnerships.

    Abubakar stressed that effective implementation is essential for both nations to maximise the value of the partnership, particularly in developing Nigeria’s local defence production capacity.

    He also underscored that closer collaboration on maritime awareness, joint exercises, and interoperability will help both countries protect vital sea routes and grow their blue economies.

    Speaking during the meeting, Minister Badaru said: “Nigeria is determined to build a resilient defence industry that reduces dependence on imports and positions our country as the defence-industrial hub in Africa.

    He added. “Brazil’s experience and technological depth make it a trusted partner, but our priority is to move from agreements to action, with clear timelines and measurable results that benefit both nations.”

    Badaru Abubakar also commended Brazil’s support in securing the Gulf of Guinea, a maritime corridor central to Nigeria’s economic lifeline, and acknowledged its constructive role in advancing the objectives of the South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone (ZOPACAS).

    He highlighted that sustained cooperation in maritime security, counterterrorism, and defence-industrial innovation aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places national security and self-reliance at the core of Nigeria’s development strategy.

    Both ministers agreed to establish a structured defence dialogue framework to ensure continuity, accountability, and tangible outcomes.

    Investigator news gathered that the engagement reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to a forward-looking partnership with Brazil, reinforcing bilateral ties and Nigeria’s leadership in regional and transatlantic security cooperation.

    In a condolence message signed by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga,President Tinubu assures President Mahama and all Ghanaians that the thoughts and prayers of the government and people of Nigeria are with them during this time of profound national loss.

    The President urges the Ghanaian nation and the bereaved families and friends to find comfort in the knowledge that their loved ones died in the line of patriotic service to the country.

    He prays for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and strength for those left behind.

    President Tinubu Hands Over As ECOWAS Chair, Sierra Leone Bio Takes Over.

    The President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, has emerged as the new Chairman of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government as Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu’s two-term leadership of the bloc comes to an end.

    President Tinubu handed over the mantle of leadership to President Bio at the 67th Ordinary Session of the Authority held in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

    This was contrary to earlier speculations that President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal was elected during a private meeting held prior to the commencement of the session.

    President Bio, in his inaugural speech, promised to prioritise four key areas, namely: restoring constitutional order and deepening democracy, revitalising regional security cooperation, unlocking economic integration and building institutional credibility.

    President Tinubu was first elected to the position in Guinea-Bissau on July 9, 2023 and he was re-elected a year later in Abuja, following the decision of the leaders to ensure continuity and consistency in meeting targets on security, reconciliation, and development.

    Kenyan author Ngugi wa Thiong’o, considered one of east Africa’s greatest literary figures, died on Wednesday, his daughter announced on Facebook. He was 87.

    “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dad, Ngugi wa Thiong’o this Wednesday morning,” wrote Wanjiku Wa Ngugi.

    “He lived a full life, fought a good fight,” she added.

    Messages of support and respect quickly poured in for the celebrated author, whose decision to stop writing in English and start using only his native Kikuyu made him a powerful symbol of post-colonial African identity.

    “My condolences to the family and friends professor Ngugi wa Thiongo, a renowned literary giant and scholar, a son of the soil and great patriot whose footprints are indelible,” wrote Martha Karua, an opposition leader in Kenya, on X.

    Investigator news reports that in 1977, Ngugi was jailed without charge after the staging of their play “Ngaahika Ndeenda” (“I Will Marry When I Want”), which was considered a harsh critique of post-colonial Kenyan society.

    Amnesty International named him a prisoner of conscience, before a global campaign secured his release from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison in December 1978.

    “Thank you Mwalimu (teacher) for your freedom writing,” wrote Amnesty International’s Kenya branch on X on Wednesday.

    “Having already earned his place in Kenyan history, he transitions from mortality to immortality,” it said.

    Ngugi went into self-imposed exile in 1982 after a ban on theatre groups in Kenya, moving first to Britain then to the United States.

    In 1986, he published one of his best-known works, “Decolonising the Mind”, a collection of essays about the role of language in forging national culture, history and identity.

    Strong winds wreaked havoc in Beijing and parts of northern China on Saturday, causing hundreds of flights to be cancelled, attractions to close and rail lines to be suspended, state media said.

    The powerful winds stemmed mainly from a cold vortex system formed over Mongolia that was moving east and south, sweeping across northern China from Friday through the weekend, the China Meteorological Administration said.

    “The strongest winds are expected during the daytime of April 12, with wind speeds at some observation stations approaching or even surpassing historical records for the same period since 1951,” the CMA said in a statement.

    Beijing earlier issued its first orange alert — the second-highest tier — for strong winds in a decade for this weekend.

    As of Saturday morning, 413 flights at Beijing’s Capital International Airport had been cancelled, state broadcaster CCTV said.

    Train services, including the airport’s express subway line and some high-speed rail lines, have also been suspended, CCTV added.

    Tourist attractions, including the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Zoo and the Universal Studios theme park were also temporarily closed Saturday.

    Almost 300 trees in the Chinese capital had toppled and 19 vehicles had been damaged, CCTV said, adding that no injuries due to the strong winds had been reported in Beijing yet.

    China is the world’s biggest emitter of the greenhouse gases that scientists say are driving climate change and making extreme weather more frequent and intense.

    Dozens of people were killed and thousands evacuated during storms that caused severe flooding around the country last year.

    In May, a highway in southern China collapsed after days of rain, killing 48 people.

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the Africa Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) to prioritise the establishment of a combined maritime task force to enhance security in the Gulf of Guinea.

    At the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday, President Tinubu expressed Nigeria’s readiness to host the task force’s headquarters in Lagos.

    President Tinubu went further to convey Nigeria’s position as the AU considered the report on the AUPSC, focusing on peace and security in Africa, and the biennial report on the implementation of the Master Roadmap of Practical Steps to Silence the Guns in Africa (2023-2024).

    The statement was delivered on behalf of President Tinubu by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

    “The time has come for the African Union Peace and Security Council to prioritise the creation of a Combined Maritime Task Force for the Gulf of Guinea.

    “I wish to announce that Nigeria would like to host the headquarters of the task force in Lagos,” he said.

    Nigeria’s recommendation of a maritime task force comes on the same day that it signed an agreement with the AU to provide Strategic Sea Lift Services for AU peace support operations, natural disaster support, humanitarian actions, and personnel movement.

    Nigeria’s defence minister, Badaru Abubakar, signed the agreement. Under the agreement, the Nigerian Navy will provide a vessel for the operations on a cost-recovery basis.

    Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Justice Minister, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Naval Chief, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, and Director-General of the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed, witnessed the agreement signing. Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, signed for the AU.

    President Tinubu expressed satisfaction that the AUPSC had already adopted the outcomes of a high–level meeting, including the decision to upgrade the Nigerian National Counter-Terrorism Centre to a Regional Counter–Terrorism Centre.

    He also appreciated the Peace and Security Council’s decision to renew the mandate of the Multinational Joint Taskforce, addressing the twin challenges of terrorism and violent extremism in the Lake Chad Region.

    On Libya, the Nigerian leader expressed concern that the instability in the North African country has continued to worsen security challenges in the Sahel and called on the Assembly to back initiatives to restore law and order.

    “The Sahel cannot enjoy peace as long as Libya does not,” he warned.

    President Tinubu highlighted the severe insecurity affecting countries grappling with democratic transition, including Sudan, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Gabon.

    “It would not be out of place to explore the possibility of extending the inherent benefits of UN Security Council Resolution 2719 to support AU Peace Support Operations,” he said.

    In doing so, he added that the AU must try to prevent the increasing incursion of extra-continental forces, including private military companies, into African security matters.

    President Tinubu welcomed the progress in operationalizing the African Standby Force, reiterating Nigeria’s support.

    He appealed to all AU member countries and delegations to show the necessary flexibility and allow the draft MoU on the operationalisation of the standby force to be adopted.

     The Nigerian government has backed the move to reform the African Union, making the continental body more vibrant, viable, and relevant to the needs of member states in the face of rapidly changing global political and economic realities.
     
    President Bola Tinubu, whose statement was delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, during the consideration and deliberation on the AU reforms report, commended his Rwanda and Kenya counterparts, Paul Kagame and Williams Ruto, for the reform proposals.

    President Tinubu acknowledged the recommendations outlined in the draft decision on the AU reform and said the Nigerian government supports the proposal to establish a Heads of State and Government oversight Committee for the AU Reforms under President Ruto’s leadership.

    Investigator news gathered that the Nigerian government also endorsed the proposal that the agenda of the AU Summit feature no more than three strategic items.

    In the intervention delivered by Ambassador Tuggar, President Tinubu rejected the proposal to create a new department out of the existing Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security. Nigerian diplomat, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, heads the department.

    He was re-elected to another term at the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government, which ended Sunday.

    “We do not support the proposal to reconfigure the Department of Political Affairs Peace and Security (PAPS) as the reconfiguration of the PAPS Department in the way currently suggested will only lead us to incur more expenditure needlessly.

    “We already have a SOD under the Directorate of PAPS. We cannot have a Peace Support Operations Directorate independent of the Directorate of Political Affairs, Peace and Security.

    We believe any attempt to create another department from the existing one will destabilise the AU political affairs and peace and security process.

    It is also important that issues that were never brought to the attention of Member States are not part of the reform,” President Tinubu said.
    On the need for inclusiveness and transparency as an integral part of the reform of the AU system, President Tinubu noted that the continental organisation should instead focus on implementing adopted policies and programmes.

    “It is in this connection that Nigeria wishes to reiterate that instead of seeking to reach consensus on all fronts of our reform at one sweep, we should concentrate on areas where we have already reached consensus. There is no harm in carrying out reform in phases. It would be an error to continue seeking consultation on all fronts in perpetuity,” President Tinubu emphasised.

    He said Nigeria would continue to support the reform process as long as it remained transparent and inclusive and did not needlessly destabilise the status quo.
