In a show of solidarity and political mobilization, prominent political figures including Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim have rallied support for Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu as he gears up for the upcoming Anambra South Senatorial elections in the state.

The event, held at the Nnewi Triangle and Aguata Local Government Headquarters respectively, saw a large turnout of supporters, community leaders, and well-wishers who came together to endorse Nwachukwu’s candidacy.

Governor Soludo, known for his developmental initiatives and commitment to the region, spoke passionately about the importance of having leaders who are deeply rooted in community values and development.

“Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu embodies the qualities we need in leadership,” Soludo stated. Nnewi South and Ihiala have not produced a Senator in the region before. Ukpor and Nnewi South supported the late Ifeanyi Ubah when he was contesting, it is time to support Nnewi South. Show me support by voting massively for Chief Nwachukwu. The late Ifeanyi Ubah was elected on the platform of YPP- a faction of APGA in 2019. Today, APGA has come back as one united family to reclaim their place”, the Governor emphasized.

While stating that Anambra is APGA land, Governor Soludo stressed that in the forthcoming election, the party stands for transparent, open, credible election. He described APGA as a people’s movement, and called on the people to vote and ensure that their votes count.

Speakers at the various locations visited such as Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, Mayor, Nnewi North, Mr. Echezona Azodo, member representing Nnewi North at the State House of Assembly, Mr. Ikedi Orji, and the State Chairman of APGA, Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, Dr. Chibuike Offorbike, Tony Muobike, Barr. Sylvia Ifemeje, Chief Titus Anagbogu, Engr. Dom Okafor, all echoed the Governor’s sentiments and emphasized the need for unity among the people of Nnewi North and Aguata to ensure a successful campaign.

Chief Nwachukwu, visibly moved by the support, expressed his gratitude to the community and pledged to prioritize the needs of the people when elected.

The event also featured one minute silence in honour of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

As the elections approach, the momentum behind Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu continues to grow, fueled by widespread community support and the backing of influential leaders in the region. With a focus on unity and progress, his campaign aims to inspire hope and instil confidence in the electorate ahead of the crucial local government elections.

The Ndi Igbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria celebrated its August-born members in a grand style on August 2, 2025, at its Secretariat in Ijegun, Lagos State.

The event featured the donation of gifts, including trophies, waste baskets, party tables, serving plates, and more, by the celebrants.

The Eze Ndigbo of Ijegun/Ijedodo,Eze Chika Nwokedi, stated that he decided to mark the birthday so as to thank and appreciate God for His blessings and guidance over the years.

Eze Nwokedi, highlighted his personal connection to the month of August, citing his birthday on August 4th and other significant life events that occurred in August, noting that the month of August is unique

“The month of August is considered a lucky month for me following my special moments including my date of birth on August 4th,I made Lagos my dwelling place August 8, 1992, wedded my lovely wife Ugoeze Pst. MrsTessy Chika Nwokedi on August 25, 2002,became the Chairman of Ladipo on August 14th,got my first award on August 29th from the Nigeria Police,had my first contract with the Nigerian Police on August 27th and payment was made on the following year on August 7th, August 4, 2023.

“I dedicated my new house, on August 8, 2023 and commissioned my palace as Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo and the list goes on.” he said.

Members and guests affirmed Eze Chika’s concept for the association is unique and worth emulating, as it gives rise to dynamism and viable change.

Several senior officers of the Nigeria Police, executives, and members of the Igbo-speaking community, friends and well wishers honored the occasion to commemorate with Eze Chika Nwokedi and co-celebrants from his founded association of 10 years.

Chief Sunday Ude, the President General of the Igbo Speaking Community Lagos, wishes all the celebrants of the association, especially its founder, who’s also an August-born, many more years in good health.

According to the chief, Sunday Ude, he described the chief celebrant, Eze Chika Nwokedi,as a foremost philanthropist, who cherishes touching the lives of the people and prayed God to give him long life and prosperity.

Lending his voice,former president of the Igbo speaking community,Chief Sunday Eze, described Eze Chika Nwokedi as a good leader and a philanthropist and wished him many more years of greatness and fulfilment.

The wife of the celebrant,Ugoeze Pst. (Amb) Tessy Chika Nwokedi, describe her husband as the man of the people who shows people love wherever he goes.

She opined  that many destinies are tied to his help and assistance for their fulfilment of purpose, while praying that he lives a healthy life as he must be alive to ensure they are catered for, especially the widows and less privileged in the society.

She went further to expresses gratitude to everyone who sends well wishes to the celebrant, prays for her husband’s longevity, and asks for greater grace, wealth, and wisdom to lead. She also sends her best wishes to all the other August celebrants.

One of the August celebrants,Chief Mrs. Chizoba Charity Okorie,said that August-born are special in character, thinking, lifestyle, selfless service, and uniqueness.

She called on every individual to imbibe the spirit of giving despite the economic situation facing the country, noting that the celebrants donated gifts to members to spread love and happiness.

The event which is aimed to promote unity and showcase the unique characteristics of those born in August as the association introduced new concepts, including trophies and cash prizes for the best-celebrated month of the year.

Speaking with newsmen,Eze Chika Nwokedi revealed that circumstances around his birth and various antecedents show how special he considers the month of his birth. He mentioned that August celebrants donated three trophies and other gift items to show love and significance.

The gifts included 5 pieces of waste baskets, 10 party tables, 196 serving plates, 96 golden spoons, 6 basins, 70 branded caps, 70 pieces of 6-yard cloth (Ankara), and 70 bags of rice in 10 kg, 25 kg, and 50 kg, respectively.

He explained that those born in August decided to move the birthday celebration in the association to the next level by presenting three cups for competition among those born in other months and at the end of the year, the association will present the cups to the winners with tag prizes for 1st position N150, 000 second position N100,000 and N50,000 for third position.He noted that the August celebrants donated gift items worth millions of naira just to celebrate this day

Nwokedi who is the Chairman of Council of Ezendigbo in Lagos State,sue for peace among Nigerians, stating that there is need for Nigerians to avoid violence, live in peace and harmony, noting that it is the only way to move forward in Nigeria.

” My message to all Nigerians and members of Igbo Buru Otu is for them to be law abiding citizen,this country would be good one day”

” Let us learn to love one another, preaching peace and eschewing evil,I hate where there is no peace because I am a man of peace, therefore let peace be our watchword. What ever good you do today,I want to let you know that God will pay you back in hundred fold”

He added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the president of Nigeria, cannot do it all by himself and urged the president’s cabinet, including the senators of the upper and lower chambers, the ministers, the governors, and all in power as assigned, to assist the president in making well-informed decisions that will advance the country.

” Also let us continually pray for our leaders especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,so that God will grant them wisdom to lead this country  because he cannot do it alone””he submitted.

In the same vein,the association 10 man committee where they were given the mandate to ensure that the secretariat is roofed.

Members of the committee include High Chief Owo Anthony Ben(Chairman), Chief Chibueze Obi(Vice Chairman),Mary Asuzu (Secretary) and others.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of gift items to members of the association which include bags of rice,wrappers and caps to show love to the members, cutting of the cake,dance and a happy moments of the celebrants.

Chief Emma Ubah, Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Otto-Awori, LCDA,Lagos State,has pledged to reconcile all Igbo factions in Lagos State if elected as the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State.

Speaking at a meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, led by Chief Solomon Aguene, Ubah emphasized his commitment to truth and unity.

He noted that his aim is to unite all segments, ensuring they speak with one voice, noting that if other factions refuse to join the new administration,he vows to reach out to them.

The astute businessman disclosed that he is a man of truth and avoid any place where there is no truth adding that he understands perfectly that there are issues in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, and that was exactly why he presented himself to lead the people.

He Therefore said he is coming to unite all the segments so that everybody would speak with one voice.

Responding to questions by newsmen Chief Ubah said, ” We are here for the common purpose that I am found worthy to lead the Igbos in Lagos in the next dispensation.

“Today’s occasion is that the incumbent Government is trying to institute Lagos State Ohanaeze.”he said

Speaking on the acceptability of the process that is bringing the new administration, he said, ‘It is all about truth. And I don’t belong to a place where there is no truth.

“It is true that there are oppositions and misunderstanding and that is why I came to stop everything and unite every group so that we can be speaking with one voice, that is why my people have chosen me for that purpose,” he said.

On the question of whether all the segments of Ohanaeze Lagos are agreed to have him as the next president of Ohanaeze Lagos State, he said, ” Yes all the Igbos that matter are here, they can not all be at one place at a time, and with my mission and vision, even if they don’t come I will go to them because what I am looking for is peace and unity among us.

“My agenda is to reconcile all the Igbos in Lagos State, and to make sure we live in peace with our host in Lagos State,” Chief Ubah stated.

Responding to question if the other groups refused to acknowledge him as the new leader of Lagos Ohanaeze, he is said “I am somebody that is tolerant and enduring, whoever that has that quality has the capability of delivering on what he has in his mission and vision.”

On issue of Eze Ndigbo in Lagos, he said, “In fact that is one of the issues I am going to tackle when I come in.”he submitted

Ubah also plans to tackle the longstanding issue of Eze Ndigbo in Lagos, seeking a lasting solution as his agenda focuses on reconciling Igbos in Lagos State and fostering peaceful coexistence with their host community.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of Chief Ubah to the organization by the incumbent president,High Chief Solomon Aguene as prayers were offered for the peace and unity of Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos State.

Ahead of the November 8, Governorship election,the Anambra South Senatorial District has overwhelmingly endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, for re-election in 2025.

This massive show of support was demonstrated at a mega rally held at the Ekwuluobia Township Stadium, where stakeholders from the seven local government areas of Anambra South came together to rally behind Soludo and Ibezim.

The event, dubbed the “Anambra South Mega Rally of Endorsement,” featured thrilling performances and mass affirmations of support for the duo.

The rally’s slogan, “Let the Solution Continue,” underscores the people’s desire for continued progress and development in Anambra State.

In his speech, Governor Soludo expressed his gratitude to the people of south senatorial zone and the entire people of Anambra for their proactive involvement in the campaign, remarking that the support comes even before the official launch of his campaign council.

The Governor also expressed confidence in the APGA Senatorial candidate, declaring that: “A vote for Chief Nwachukwu will ensure the emergence of a Senator who will collaborate closely with the Governor and join the APGA Caucus to implement our policy of working hand-in-hand with the government at the center,” Soludo assured.

Chief Nwachukwu, who received the party flag from APGA’s National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, and the State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, committed to a campaign anchored on the achievements of the Governor. He emphasized his intention to build upon the solid foundation laid by Governor Soludo.

The APC Campaign Council in Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State has met with the party’s Local Government Executives to strengthen collaboration and foster unity ahead of the 2025 Local Government elections.

The meeting, led by Hon. Williams Lawanson (Director General of the Campaign Council),emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and collective efforts to guarantee success in the elections, while persuading all party members to work collectively towards a landslide victory at the polls.

Hon. Lawanson appealed to the Hon. Yomi Olubamido-led LGA executives to put party success above internal disagreements.

He lauded the excellent performance of the Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ administration in Somolu, which delivered outstanding developmental projects and impactful, people-focused programmes.

The Campaign Council urged the LGA executives as well as the Scribe of the party, Mr. Demola Oliyide, to take the campaign message directly to their wards and followers, ensuring massive grassroots mobilisation.

Lawanson emphasised that victory is certain when the entire party structure works as one, spreading the party’s achievements and plans to every corner of the community.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has issued a firm directive to all officers warning against illegal detention, meddling in civil matters, especially land disputes, and extortion.

This follows reports of unlawful detention for bailable offences, extortion of complainants and suspects, and police interference in civil cases.

The CP described these actions as violations of constitutional rights and the Inspector-General’s directives.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, in Abuja over the weekend, said the CP has directed all Area Commanders, DPOs, and HODs to immediately review and release suspects held for minor, bailable offences upon proper documentation and verification of surety.

CP Adewale emphasised that bail is free, and any officer found collecting money for bail or documentation will face strict disciplinary action.

He reiterated that the police must not intervene in civil matters, particularly land-related disputes, which lie outside their jurisdiction.

“Any officer in violation and supervisors who fail to enforce this directive will be held accountable. The CP also condemned the demand for payment before investigating cases, warning that such acts constitute extortion and abuse of office. Offenders will be prosecuted,” the statement said.

Investigator news reports that members of the public were also cautioned against offering bribes, as this is a criminal offence under Section 118 of the Penal Code Act. Citizens were also advised not to misuse the Police for debt recovery or personal vendettas.

The Command urged all residents of the FCT to support the Command’s efforts to ensure professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights.

There is growing confusion among supporters of Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, over his alleged move to pitch his tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

This comes on the heels of his conspicuous absence from a high-profile endorsement event at the Presidential Villa where the All Progressives Congress (APC) formally declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 polls.

The event, organised by the APC National Working Committee to showcase party unity ahead of 2027, took a dramatic turn when Governor Alia arrived only after the endorsement had concluded, further fueling speculation about his wavering loyalty and intensifying tensions within the ruling party.

A source at the meeting said the event was almost over and members of the party were wondering why the governor was missing from such an important gathering, especially since he was known to be in Abuja and had earlier attended the North Central meeting of the party.

It was at that point, the source added, that a close aide quickly placed a call to him, prompting the governor to rush down to the venue, but by then, the event was virtually over.

Multiple sources confirmed that Alia had demanded a dual endorsement — one for Tinubu and one for his reelection bid, as a condition for participating in the event.

When this was rejected by the party hierarchy, the governor reportedly pulled out of all negotiations and intensified secret talks with ADC operatives, raising alarms among political observers and grassroots supporters alike.

Alia’s alleged defection plan has left his camp in disarray, with aides and loyalists offering conflicting accounts of his next political move.

Some insisted that he remains firmly within the APC, while others quietly admit that “serious consultations” are ongoing with the ADC, coordinated by opposition figures including former Governor Gabriel Suswam.

The confusion is further compounded by the longstanding cold war between Governor Alia and his political godfather, Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The rift began shortly after Alia’s inauguration in 2023 and has since plunged the Benue APC into deep crisis, resulting in two parallel party structures.

While Akume reportedly controls over 80% of the APC structure in the state, Alia has entrenched a rival faction, sidelining loyalists of the SGF and attempting — albeit unsuccessfully — to oust the APC State Chairman, Mr. Austin Agada, a known Akume ally.

That attempt was nullified by a Federal High Court ruling in Makurdi on November 28, 2024, which reinstated Agada and dealt a blow to Alia’s efforts to consolidate control.

Despite the legal setback, Alia has continued to operate a parallel executive, fueling widespread belief that he is preparing to dump the APC entirely.

His alleged involvement in secretly funding Suswam’s failed bid for PDP National Chairman further raises questions about his true political intentions and willingness to build alliances across party lines.

“What Governor Alia is doing is not politics as usual. He is moving like a man without a party,” said a senior APC member in Makurdi.

“He hasn’t declared for ADC, yet everything he’s doing shows he’s no longer with us.”

For now, the governor remains silent — neither confirming nor denying his rumored exit from the APC.

But his actions speak louder than words.

“By boycotting a defining moment for the party and deepening ties with rival forces, Alia has not only alienated much of the APC base in Benue but also cast a long shadow over the party’s unity heading into 2027, a political analysts said.
