    Lagos, Nigeria — The Care. Organization. Public. Enlightenment (C.O.P.E) has marked three decades of pioneering work in breast cancer awareness, early detection, and survivor support with a commemorative event held at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

    The ceremony brought together healthcare professionals, survivors, donors, and corporate partners, led by Polaris Bank, the organisation’s longstanding partner and lead sponsor.

    Speaking at the event, Emeritus Professor Osato Giwa Osagie, Chairman of C.O.P.E’s Board of Trustees, recounted his first meeting with the Founder, Mrs. Ebunola Anozie, describing her as “a persuasive and passionate woman whose vision has changed the narrative of breast health in Nigeria.”

    He noted that COPE has become a national force for awareness and care, providing free monthly breast screenings, prosthetic bras, and financial assistance to women in need.

    “In the last ten years, we have witnessed remarkable progress in breast cancer survival in Nigeria, thanks to early detection and consistent education,” Professor Giwa Osagie said.

    “We have also begun importing breast supplements specifically for women who have undergone mastectomy, available right here at the C.O.P.E Centre, to help them regain confidence and comfort.”

    He emphasised that the organisation’s next milestone would be the establishment of a permanent C.O.P.E Centre, complete with a screening unit, conference hall, and residential facility for women undergoing treatment or recovery.

    In her remarks, Mrs. Ebunola Anozie, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of C.O.P.E, reflected on how personal loss birthed a purpose that has endured for 30 years.

    “C.O.P.E was born out of grief, but it became my way of transforming pain into purpose,” she said. “From a modest awareness campaign in 1995, we have grown into a national movement that has educated millions and provided life saving early detection services for thousands of women.

    Yet, our work is far from done. We need a permanent home where every woman can find hope, healing, and care.”

    She expressed gratitude to Polaris Bank and other corporate partners whose support, she said, “has kept C.O.P.E’s mission alive and expanding through every economic season.”

    A highlight of the evening was the moving testimony of Mrs. Agatha Obi, a breast cancer survivor who discovered C.O.P.E during her treatment.

    “In 2011, I was told I had breast cancer and would need a mastectomy. It was devastating,” she recalled.

    “But through C.O.P.E, I found courage, community, and hope. Thirteen years later, I am alive, thriving, and grateful for this organisation that stood by me when I needed it most.”

    Representing the Managing Director of Polaris Bank, Mrs. Bukola Oluyadi delivered a goodwill message reaffirming the Bank’s partnership with C.O.P.E.

    She noted that Polaris Bank is “deeply proud to stand beside an organisation whose work embodies compassion, resilience, and impact.” In her address, she said:

    “Reaching three decades of dedicated service and advocacy is no small feat. C.O.P.E has been a beacon of hope, empowerment, and positive change in our society.

    At Polaris Bank, we remain committed to advancing the fight against breast cancer through awareness, early detection, and sustained care.

    Together, we will continue to empower women, strengthen families, and transform communities.”

    Mrs. Oluyadi commended the C.O.P.E team for their enduring commitment to public enlightenment and healthcare access, assuring that Polaris Bank will remain a steadfast partner in driving initiatives that touch lives and promote national well-being.

    The 30th anniversary celebration concluded with renewed pledges from partners and donors to support the organisation’s vision of building a permanent COPE Centre, a symbol of hope for women across Nigeria.

    In a congratulatory message,Ododo described President Bola Tinubu’s decision as “heartwarming, exemplary, and richly deserved,” praising Marwa’s leadership and transformational impact on the NDLEA.

    The Governor lauded Marwa’s courage, vision, and commitment to protecting Nigeria from illicit drugs, noting that his reappointment reflects President Tinubu’s confidence in his abilities.

    “Over the years, you have demonstrated uncommon courage and dedication to safeguarding our country. Nigeria is safer because of the professionalism and sacrifices you and your team continue to make,” Governor Ododo stated.

    Ododo also commended President Tinubu for his thoughtful and patriotic decision, affirming that the reappointment underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and enhancing the war against drug abuse and trafficking.

    A tragic accident occurred on Ikorodu Road in Lagos, claiming the life of an adult female passenger and leaving six others seriously injured on Sunday 16, November 2925.

    The crash involved a Volkswagen commercial bus with registration number EPE 494 XM and a stationary tipper truck at Majidun, near Ogolonto, opposite MRS Filling Station.

    According to reports, the bus, chartered to transport passengers to Ogijo, experienced brake failure,causing the driver who was reportedly travelling at a perilously excessive speed,to lose control and collide with the tipper truck.

    The brutal impact resulted in the instantaneous death of an adult female passenger, while five female occupants and one male sustained severe and life-threatening injuries.

    Investigator news reports that the injured victims were rushed to Benic Special Hospital, while the deceased was taken to Ikorodu General Hospital.

    LASTMA personnel quickly responded, apprehending the tipper truck driver who attempted to flee and arresting the bus driver.

    Both individuals have been handed over to the police for investigation.

    The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, conveyed profound grief over the harrowing incident and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

    He prayed that Almighty God grants them the fortitude to endure the irreplaceable loss, and he wished the injured victims a swift and full recovery.

    Mr. Bakare-Oki further admonished motorists to exercise utmost restraint, vigilance, and discipline on the highways by avoiding excessive speed.

    He stressed that overspeeding drastically impairs a driver’s capacity to respond to sudden mechanical failures or unforeseen hazards, thereby magnifying the risk of catastrophic outcomes.

    The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the 2026 PDP National Convention as a “political obsequies” for a once-dominant party now in irreversible decline.

    The event, which was boycotted by notable PDP leaders, including incumbent state governors and delegates from thirteen states was marked by confusion, desperation, and a lack of quorum,a testament to the PDP’s terminal decline,underscoring the party’s loss of grip on the nation’s political landscape.

    According to the APC Spokesman,Mogaji (Hon.) Oluseye Olaniran Oladejo,he stated that the PDP’s convention was a charade that highlighted the party’s ideological emptiness, leadership rot, and inability to provide a viable alternative to the ruling APC.

    “What transpired was nothing but a charade – a poorly scripted show of confusion and desperation, an embarrassment to the political class, and a new low for an erstwhile national party that once wore the toga of invincibility and gripped the nation’s political space by the jugular.Those glory days are clearly over.”

    “Most telling, however, was the conspicuous boycott by notable leaders of the PDP, including incumbent state governors, whose absence spoke louder than any communiqué or resolution.”

    “Their refusal to attend the non-event underscored what Nigerians have long suspected – that the PDP is terminally ill, surviving only on occasional media noise and nostalgic delusions. When a house is collapsing, even its architects flee.

    “To deepen the absurdity, it is ridiculous – and profoundly revealing – that as many as delegates from thirteen states stayed away entirely from the confusion christened a national convention.”

    “When a party’s own delegates choose absence over association, the diagnosis is clear: the patient is not just unwell; it is clinically unresponsive.”he said.

    Mogaji Oladejo went further to state that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also refused to monitor the event,dealing a final blow to the PDP’s credibility.

    “The refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor the event put a final seal on the exercise in futility.”

    “When the nation’s electoral umpire declines to acknowledge your convention, what remains is nothing but a political gathering stripped of legitimacy, relevance, and meaning.”he stated

    He opined that rather than the party confront its deep-rooted failures – leadership rot, ideological emptiness, and years of humiliating electoral defeats – the PDP again had a valedictory service, otherwise called a convention, which provided an opportunity for the caricature of its dwindling membership to gather and formally say their nunc dimittis.

    ” For many, this was not a convention but a dignified farewell to a political structure that has outlived its usefulness.”

    “What should have symbolised renewal instead confirmed that the party is fast approaching its political expiration date.”

    “Worse still, the PDP has now become a danger to our nascent democracy – not because it is strong, but because it has failed woefully to provide the vibrant, responsible, and constructive opposition that can add value, strengthen accountability, and present Nigerians with a viable alternative.”

    “A democracy without credible opposition is weakened; and the PDP, in its current comatose state, offers nothing but noise without substance.”Mogaji Oladejo submitted.

    The APC stated that the PDP is terminally ill, surviving only on media noise and nostalgic delusions, and that its internal disarray has written a preface to its political obituary.

    “Today’s PDP is no longer a national institution – it is a refuge for internally displaced politicians, career defectors, and political daydreamers struggling for survival. Nigerians are not confused: a party that cannot manage itself cannot offer leadership to a nation.”

    “As the dust settles, one question confronts the PDP and its sympathizers:Was this truly a convention, or the formal burial of a fading political empire?”

    “Whatever the answer, Nigerians have made their choice – progress under the APC, not nostalgia under a PDP drifting toward oblivion.”

    The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command has applauded Societal Concerns Organization for its patriotic initiative tagged Campaign Against the Killing of Security Personnel (2.0), describing it as a laudable and timely intervention in promoting peace, national security, and mutual respect between the public and security operatives.

    During a courtesy visit by the organizers to his office, the AIG commended the group’s commitment to advocacy and social responsibility, noting that the campaign reflects a deep sense of patriotism and empathy for men and women who daily put their lives on the line to protect the nation.

    He expressed concern over the rising incidents of attacks on security personnel across the country and emphasized the need for continuous public enlightenment to curb such acts. According to him, security agencies remain partners in progress, and every citizen must see them as allies in the collective mission to ensure safety and stability.

    Also speaking during the meeting, Mr. Gbenga Adewale, a representative of the organizing team, emphasized the importance of “protecting our protectors”, stressing that security officers deserve the highest level of respect, safety, and appreciation for their selfless service to the nation.

    He noted that the campaign was designed to awaken public consciousness about the dangers of hostility toward security personnel and to encourage stronger collaboration between communities and the forces that safeguard them.

    In his remarks, Mr. Lanre, a representative of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), shared positive feedback from the youth community regarding the ongoing campaign.

    He stated that the orientation among young people is changing as they are beginning to better understand the sacrifices of security operatives and the importance of maintaining peaceful engagement with them.

    Speaking on behalf of Societal Concerns Organization, Ambassador Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi, the convener of the campaign, reiterated that the initiative was born out of a passion to promote empathy, national unity, and protection for those who serve in various security formations across the country.

    She revealed that the second edition of the campaign will feature public awareness programs, media sensitization, and stakeholder collaborations aimed at bridging the gap between citizens and security agencies.

    The Ogun State Youth Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hon. Funso Jide Adekunle, has formally resigned from his position, citing “personal conviction and reflection” as reasons for his decision to step aside from active leadership within the party.

    In his resignation letter dated Tuesday, November 11, 2025, and addressed to the NNPP State Chairman, Adekunle (A.k.A Honourable Fushi) announced that his decision was reached “after deep and sincere reflection,” describing it as “a step of conscience and purpose” aimed at pursuing new political directions.

    “This decision, borne out of personal interest and conviction, comes after deep and sincere reflection. It is a step of conscience and purpose, intended to allow me to pursue new directions and aspirations within the wider political space,” he stated.

    Adekunle, who also previously served as Ogun East Senatorial Chairman of the NNPP, emphasised that his resignation was not connected to any form of disagreement or dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership, describing his experience as “an honour and a defining period” in his political journey.

    “That experience not only deepened my understanding of public service but also reaffirmed my commitment to progressive democratic ideals,” Adekunle added.

    He recalled his tenure as Ogun East Senatorial Chairman, noting that the role provided him the opportunity to mobilise youths and grassroots supporters for the NNPP’s vision of a new Nigeria built on equity, justice, and accountable leadership.

    “Through my service as Ogun East Senatorial Chairman, I was privileged to work with dedicated leaders and grassroots members who shared a common passion for building a stronger NNPP. Together, we advanced the cause of the party and promoted the vision of a New Nigeria,” he reflected.

    While stepping aside from his role, Adekunle maintained that he still holds the NNPP in high regard and wishes the party continued success in its democratic pursuits.

    The Igbo community in Mushin, Lagos, came alive on November 8, 2025, as Onyeisi Ndigbo 1 Na’ Mushin,Eze Ambassador Dr.Peter Umeh(JP),celebrated the 2025 Cultural/New Yam Festival, and launching of Almanac in grand style.

    Eze Ambassador Dr. Peter Umeh, led the celebrations, which featured prayers, conferment of Chieftaincy titles, cultural dances, masquerade displays, and free medical services.

    The ceremony was attended by prominent Ndieze Ndigbo, including Eze Ndigbo in Ikeja, Eze Uche Dimgba, Eze Ndigbo in Oshodi, Eze Ruben Ezeibeakanma,Eze Augustine Sunday Ojukwu,Eze Ndigbo in Amuwo Odofin,Eze Anosike Tony,Eze Ndigbo in Onigboigbo,Eze John Greg Ezediabu,Eze Emenike Okpaga,Eze Ndigbo in Buknor,Eze Udenmba of Ezinifite,Eze Ndigbo of Iba Land,Eze Ndigbo Isolo, Eze Ikem Agbasi,Ichie Anselm Njoku,Chief Chris Ekwilo,Prince Andy Moore Ezejioha,Mr.Okechukwu Elota,many Igbo sons and daughters including non indigenes, friends and well wishers to celebrate the new season of bountiful harvest and thanks to God almighty for the gift of life.

    Others are the Executive Chairman of Mushin LGA,who was ably represented by one of his aide,Chairman, DV Procurement and Logistics, Mr. David Aduaka ;Mr. Maxwell Okafor; Pastor Clifford Umeh and the entire Management team of Clifford Kidney Foundation International .

     

    Investigator news reports that the event with conferrement of chieftaincy title on some distinguished personalities are Chief Henry Chinonso Anagwu ( Aku si na Chi); Sir, Chief Chinedu Ugoagu( Eze Chiwubelu) ;Nze Chika Nwagu( Ezi-Okwu di Nkpa) and Chief Mrs Stella Ukwunne( Eze Nwanyi).

    In his welcome remark,Eze Chimereze said that new yam festival in Lagos unify the heritage of the Igbo people, noting that the new yam festival which is an age long cultural and traditional ceremony is a mark of honour to thank God for the end of the harvest season and ask for his blessings in the next planting season.He urged the people to continually uphold traditions passed down by their forefathers.

    The highlight of the event was the launch of the Almanac, followed by award plaques given to beneficiaries, cutting of the new yam,display of different Igbo cultural dances and masquerades including entertainment of guest with Igbo traditional music,assorted foods,and drinks, provided free kidney lectures, health speeches, and medical services, with free herbal tea supplements distributed to dignitaries and participants.

    Eze Umeh,while breaking the traditional Igbo kola nut with other Igbo Leaders, poured libations and prayed for peace ,long life and success of his subjects, National political leadership and the entire country at large.

     

    Goodwill Messages:

    Speaking with newsmen,Eze Ojukwu Sunday commended Onyeisi Ndigbo in Mushin, Eze Ambassador Peter Umeh for promoting the culture and traditions of Ndigbo in Lagos, while calling Ndigbo living in Lagos to always respect and work together with the culture of the yoruba community by ensuring that peace and unity remains their watchword.

    Eze Ndigbo in Buknor,Eze Emenike Okpaga urge parents to always teach their children the culture and traditions of Ndigbo, stating that Igbo language must die as stipulated by the United Nation.

    He applauded Eze Umeh for his tenacity in promoting the Igbo culture stating that cultural events such as the ‘Iriji’ enable the children born outside Igbo land to embrace their cultural heritage.

    For Eze Ndigbo in Ikeja, Eze Uche Dimgba,he said “The Igbo New Yam Festival is an annual traditional event of the Igbos wherever they find themselves. As a custodian of culture and traditions,according to our tradition,it is obligatory to observe this age-long festival laid down by our ancestors and I must commend Onyeisi Ndigbo in Mushin for preserving this culture ”

    Those who were conferred with new titles pledged to use their title to mentor the youth and create opportunities for the less privileged.

    Chief Henry Chinonso Anagwu said that his recognition would spur him to expand his humanitarian efforts, particularly towards supporting vulnerable members of the community.

    Chief Chinedu Ugoagu( Eze Chiwubelu)said he is full of thanks to Eze Peter Umeh for giving him the recognition, stating that he would continue to assist the needy in his little capacity.

    Speaking with newsmen after the occasion,Eze Peter Umeh,(Eze Chimereze)urge the Igbo community to respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities while supporting the Lagos State Government and promoting peaceful co existence.

    “This is not our land, therefore let us respect their culture, culture is what build and integrate us together”he said.

    The United Nation Peace Ambassador applauded the administration of Hon Aruwe, Executive Chairman Mushin LGA for the good job he has done within his 100 days in office as he has placed infrastructure as one of his priorities.

    While highlighting the essence of the free medical care during the new yam celebration,he opined that the reason for his existence here on earth is to transform and assist the less privileged in the society.

    Investigator news gathered that Eze Ambassador Peter Umeh (JP)and members of ‘Obi- Ukwu Ndigbo palace like High Chief Jude Ejeagha, Palace Chairman, Chief Akuewebe, Ossy Jude Umeugo and many other Cabinet has been assisting the less privileged in the society, including the school of the blind, prison community and many other homeless children.

    Based on his philanthropic gesture to humanity,the Clifford Kidney Foundation International led by its founder, Pastor Clifford presented a picture sourvenir to Eze Ambassador Dr Peter Umeh (JP).

    The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD),on Monday 10, November 2025,presided over the monthly Peace and Security Council Meeting held at his Ikeja House Office.

    The meeting was well attended by all Heads of Security Agencies operating within the local government, alongside key community stakeholders,including the Regent of Ikeja,representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),and  the League of Imams.

    Investigator news reports that the security chiefs provided comprehensive briefings on the security situation across Ikeja, highlighting major developments, challenges encountered, and progress achieved in maintaining law and order.

    In his message, Comrade AKOD commended the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring safety of lives and property, and for sustaining the relative peace Ikeja continues to enjoy.

    He urged them to remain vigilant and proactive, assuring them of his administration’s unwavering support and collaboration in addressing security concerns.

    Ikorodu Tragedy: 3 LASUSTECH Students Killed, 7 Fight For Life.

    A devastating multiple-vehicle collision at Powerline Junction, Ikorodu,on Saturday 8, November 2025,has claimed the lives of three Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) students,two males and one female while seven others are fighting for their lives in hospital.

    Investigator news reports that the accident, which occurred earlier today, involved a tipper truck with a mechanical brake failure, a Toyota Corolla,(SMK 42 AJ),an MPV Bus, and four tricycles.The truck, travelling at excessive speed, careened out of control, colliding with other vehicles and tricycles, causing devastating wreckage and loss of lives.

    Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other emergency services quickly responded to the scene, rescuing the injured and conveying them to nearby medical facilities,while the three deceased casualties were respectfully evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital,Ikorodu mortuary.

    LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed profound grief and condolences to the bereaved families, urging all road users to adhere to speed limits and maintain their vehicles to prevent such tragedies.

    Mr. Bakare-Oki lamented that the incident was entirely avoidable, decrying the recurring menace of recklessness, overspeeding, and poor vehicular maintenance, particularly defective braking systems, as persistent causes of fatal road mishaps across the State.

    He sternly admonished all commercial and heavy-duty vehicle operators to strictly adhere to statutory speed limits, undergo periodic mechanical checks, and uphold the highest standards of road discipline to preserve lives and property on Lagos roads.

    Reaffirming the Authority’s commitment, the General Manager assured members of the public that LASTMA remains steadfast in its mission to promote road safety, enforce traffic discipline, and ensure rapid emergency response across all parts of Lagos State.
