The President’s speech was both a chronicle of hard-won achievements and a message of renewed hope for a nation on the cusp of greatness.

In less than three years of his administration, President Tinubu has displayed the uncommon courage and visionary leadership required to rebuild our nation from decades of waste, corruption, and inertia.

His Independence Day broadcast highlighted a catalogue of verifiable achievements which testify to his relentless pursuit of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Among these, the Lagos APC salutes the following:
• Sound economic reforms that removed the corrupt fuel subsidy and ended multiple foreign exchange regimes, freeing trillions of naira to fund education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social programmes.

• Record-breaking non-oil revenue performance, with over ₦20 trillion realised by August 2025 – a bold step toward self-sufficiency and diversification of the economy.

• Stabilisation of the Naira and restoration of fiscal health, with debt service-to-revenue ratio cut by half, reserves strengthened, and Nigeria now consistently recording trade surpluses.

• Historic rebound in oil and gas production with new investments and domestic refining for the first time in four decades, alongside Nigeria’s emergence as Africa’s leading aviation fuel exporter.

• Infrastructure revolution, with massive road, rail, port, and housing projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Kaduna-Kano rail line, Kano-Katsina-Maradi project, and Sokoto-Badagry Highway.

• Improved security architecture, restoring peace to previously troubled regions, degrading terrorist networks, and rebuilding national confidence.

• Social investment programmes, including the disbursement of ₦330 billion to vulnerable households and student loan schemes reaching over 500,000 Nigerian youths.

• Youth empowerment initiatives such as Credicorp, YouthCred, and iDICE, ensuring that our future leaders are not left behind in digital innovation, creative industries, and entrepreneurship.

• Agricultural revival, with food security initiatives, subsidies, and infrastructural support to farmers to ensure affordable food supply and long-term sustainability.

• Global recognition of Nigeria’s progress, as sovereign rating agencies upgrade the nation’s outlook, capital markets surge to historic levels, and investor confidence returns.

President Tinubu’s message of hope, captured in the declaration that “the worst is over” and that “yesterday’s pains are giving way to relief”, speaks directly to the resilience of Nigerians who have endured temporary hardship in anticipation of national renewal.

His catalogue of achievements is proof that sacrifices are not in vain and that the light at the end of the tunnel is within sight.

As Nigeria proudly marks 65 years of independence, the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) congratulates our nation and her resilient citizens.

Today is not only a celebration of our sovereignty but also an opportunity to reflect on our past, assess our present, and chart a clear course for the future.

At this defining moment, it is evident that Nigeria could not have asked for a better leader than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He is the man for the moment – courageous, visionary, and determined to pull the nation out of the deep hole dug by years of misrule, reckless borrowing, and corruption under the watch of the opposition.

Unlike those who mortgage the future of generations yet unborn for selfish political survival, President Tinubu has displayed uncommon boldness in confronting decades of decay with reforms that are already laying a solid foundation for national renewal.

His decision to remove the suffocating fuel subsidy, his sweeping interventions in agriculture, food security, infrastructure, and the economy, and his commitment to free technical education backed by stipends for Nigerian students, show clearly that we finally have a leader who thinks beyond short-term populism to long-term national prosperity.

At 65, Nigeria does not need politicians whose only plan is to return the country to the dark era of sharing the nation’s resources among cronies. Nigerians know them well – the same tired figures, masquerading as redeemers, but whose records are filled with corruption, prebendalism, and betrayal of trust. These are the characters plotting their return in 2027, but Nigerians are wiser now.

History has positioned President Tinubu as the reformer-in-chief, the leader with the courage to make painful but necessary decisions, and the builder committed to a new Nigeria of opportunities, justice, and shared prosperity.

He has shown the difference between leadership with vision and opposition driven only by selfish ambition and ethnic calculations.

As we celebrate 65 years of independence, we urge Nigerians to rally around President Tinubu, reject the merchants of lies and retrogression in the opposition, and remain steadfast in supporting the APC.

The journey to greatness has begun, and with Asiwaju at the helm, Nigeria is on course to claim her rightful place as the giant of Africa.

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has taken note of public remarks attributed to Prof. Jerry Gana – made after the PDP Niger State Congress in Minna – that former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan “will contest” and should be “brought back” to the presidency in 2027.

While we respect the right of any party or individual to make political declarations and to canvass for support, Lagos APC wishes to remind Nigerians that elections are contests of ideas, competence and delivery – not nostalgia or recycled rhetoric.

Prof. Gana’s certainty that a particular individual “will” be the PDP candidate or that Nigerians are clamouring for a return to the past is premature and political theatre.

We acknowledge and appreciate Prof. Gana’s sense of humor, which may be entertaining but is out of place in serious political discourse.

It may also be interesting to interrogate his continued relevance, having been around the corridors of power forever without leaving behind any remarkable legacy of transformation or notable accomplishments.

More importantly, Prof. Gana’s so-called democratic credentials are highly questionable. By arrogating to himself the sole power to determine the presidential candidate of a whole political party, he has exposed the PDP’s chronic disdain for internal democracy and shown Nigerians once again that the party has learnt nothing from its many years of failure.

Unlike the APC, which remains firmly committed to internal democracy and a transparent nomination process, the PDP and other opposition parties appear to be working towards already pre-determined ends as far as their presidential candidates are concerned.

The likes of Prof. Gana may well be advised not to unnecessarily heat up the polity by embarking on lawless campaigns before the official ban on electioneering is lifted, thereby underscoring once again their undemocratic credentials and disregard for due process.

The so-called cheerleaders will also do well to allow former President Jonathan to enjoy his retirement from public office in peace, rather than luring him into a final dance whose result is all too predictable.

Indeed, if he chooses to run, President Jonathan will need more than an overdose of good luck to stand a chance. The landmines before him are numerous – legal, past records, and fundamental questions of capacity.

The present managers of Aso Villa should kindly and urgently freight whatever former President Jonathan may have forgotten at the State House to forestall the temptation of a return.

Perhaps this development presents an opportunity to restate that Nigerians forgave all his pitfalls for his untainted democratic credentials, particularly his conduct during the 2015 electoral process. That legacy should be protected at all costs.

Since 2023, Nigerians have been witnessing major policy shifts and bold reforms aimed at revitalising the economy, attracting investment, and expanding social interventions.

Lagos APC stands firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to fix the economy and build infrastructure that creates jobs and improves lives. We will continue to defend policies that prioritise the future over the past.

The APC in Lagos calls on all political actors – including the PDP and its chieftains – to desist from divisive nostalgia and instead present clear, implementable programmes for the challenges Nigerians actually face: food security, power, transport, security and youth employment.

If the PDP truly believes Mr. Jonathan is the solution, they should lay out specific, detailed policy proposals and submit them for public scrutiny rather than making pronouncements that sound like campaign hype.

Finally, Lagos APC urges voters to judge parties by records and plans. We will continue to work across Lagos and Nigeria to promote pragmatic governance, development and inclusion – and to hold all parties to account for promises made to Nigerians.

This bold and people-oriented policy is yet another clear demonstration of the administration’s resolve to empower Nigerians with practical skills, expand opportunities, and secure a brighter future for generations to come.

By removing financial barriers to technical education, President Tinubu has opened the door for millions of young Nigerians to acquire relevant skills in technology, innovation, and vocational expertise- skills that will drive industrial growth, self-reliance, and economic resilience.

To further support this initiative, each student will also receive a monthly stipend of ₦22,500, ensuring that financial hardship does not stand in the way of learning.

This is a practical intervention that will not only encourage enrollment but also sustain focus and commitment to studies.

Our people say, “The child who learns a trade will not go hungry.” With this landmark policy, the President has not only responded to the aspirations of Nigerian youths but has also laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth, massive job creation, and poverty reduction.

The Lagos APC proudly notes that this policy aligns seamlessly with President Tinubu’s lifelong commitment to education, capacity building, and human capital development.

It is a natural extension of the vision he pursued as Governor of Lagos State, where he introduced free education and invested heavily in schools- investments that continue to bear fruit to this day.

Once again, those in the opposition who thrive on falsehood and idle distractions will be put to shame. While they predict doom and indulge in empty rhetoric, President Tinubu continues to deliver tangible, transformative policies that directly impact the lives of Nigerians. History will remember not their noise but his achievements.

The Lagos APC salutes President Tinubu’s foresight and assures him of our unflinching support as he continues to reset Nigeria on the path of progress.

With free technical education nationwide and a ₦22,500 monthly stipend for every student, a new chapter has begun- one where skills, not limitations, will define the destiny of our youth.

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not surprised by reports of deep cracks within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the wider opposition coalition ahead of 2027.

For a party that thrives on defections, inconsistency, and empty noise, it was only a matter of time before the roof caved in.

The ADC’s so-called coalition is nothing but a house built on sand – without shared vision, ideology, or leadership.

What Nigerians are witnessing is the natural consequence of opportunistic alliances formed only to grab power, not to serve the people. Our people say, “When there is no honor among thieves, the loot scatters quickly.”

To make matters worse, most of the ADC’s known leaders can be accused of political bigamy – maintaining their membership of different political parties while attempting to consummate an unholy wedlock with the latest flirt in town.

In the immortal words of the late Afrobeat king, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, this is nothing short of “confusion break bone.”

We are also amused by the ADC’s latest directive to its missing members who are still officially members of rival parties to quit immediately.

The truth is simply that these so-called members are already having a re-think about their association with this group of political jobbers and have wisely become hesitant about embarking on a journey to nowhere.

While President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is focused on reforms, revenue growth, and building a lasting legacy, the opposition is busy scrambling for relevance, consumed by greed, mistrust, and shameless contradictions.

The recent by-elections that saw APC sweep to victory nationwide were already a referendum on the Tinubu administration. The electorate has spoken loudly, choosing performance and stability over confusion and disunity.

We can only pity the ADC and its co-travelers, who are proving once again that they are not ready for the responsibilities of governance.

Nigerians deserve a credible opposition that engages with ideas, not a collapsing circus of serial defectors bound together only by frustration and bitterness.

The truth remains: 2027 is not about ADC’s survival but about consolidating the gains of the Tinubu era.

And by every indication—economic, political, and electoral – the APC is the only party standing firmly with the Nigerian people.

The ADC’s implosion is no surprise. It is simply the law of nature catching up with a party that was never destined to last.

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has observed with keen interest the political trajectory of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The truth, which even Kwankwaso himself cannot deny, is that the NNPP has become little more than a regional experiment – spirited, yes, but without the spread, depth, or resilience required to thrive on the national stage.

The NNPP’s limitations are obvious, and to continue in denial is to waste the loyalty of his teeming followers on a platform that cannot carry them far.

The APC, on the other hand, has proven itself as the strongest, most inclusive, and most formidable political family in Nigeria.

We are a broad-based coalition that has successfully united diverse tendencies from North to South and continues to provide tested leadership that delivers real governance.

For a politician of Kwankwaso’s stature, only the APC has the structure and vision capable of amplifying his relevance and securing his legacy.

It is also clear that PDP, the other so-called “option,” has become a laughing-stock – a party of contradictions, riddled with infighting and consumed by desperation.

The same PDP that once shut Kwankwaso and many others out now parades itself as a credible alternative. Nigerians are not fooled.

As the saying goes, “The masquerade that overstays its welcome will be chased away with stones.” PDP has overstayed and outlived its relevance.

For Kwankwaso and the NNPP, joining APC is not just the best bet, it is the only bet. PDP is a sinking ship. Other opposition parties are scattered bands of frustrated defectors.

But the APC remains the only true national platform where ambition meets opportunity, where loyalty is rewarded, and where collective progress is placed above petty personal interest.

We extend a hand of fellowship to Senator Kwankwaso and his movement. The time has come to stop wasting political energy in experiments destined for the archives of history. In politics, “the wise man joins the winning caravan, while the stubborn one is left behind in the dust.”

The All Progressives Congress is the natural home for Kwankwaso, his followers, and all well-meaning Nigerians who want to remain on the right side of history.

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) notes with utter amusement the latest daydream from the tottering African Democratic Congress (ADC), now parading itself as a credible voice in Nigeria’s democracy.

Their claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be a one-term President is nothing but idle talk from a party that has never tasted power at the center and is unlikely to do so in this lifetime.

It is rather convenient for a party that has no record of winning elections at the national level to begin to write imaginary scripts about the tenure of a leader whose political sagacity, track record of service, and capacity to deliver are beyond question.

President Tinubu has only just begun the hard work of resetting Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth and progress. Nigerians are already seeing bold, people-oriented policies that lesser leaders have shied away from for decades.

Our people say, “You don’t learn to walk by first attempting to run.” The APC government under Tinubu is laying solid foundations, step by step, for lasting transformation, while the ADC continues to prance about without roots or direction.

Another proverb teaches us that “A child who washes his hands clean will dine with elders.” President Tinubu, by virtue of his political pedigree and sacrifice for democracy, has earned his place at the leadership table – unlike the ADC that feeds on crumbs from serial defections.

There is absolutely nothing on ground to show that the ADC stands any chance at the polls. If indeed “the morning shows the day,” then the results of the recently held by-elections across the country – where the APC swept to overwhelming victory – speak volumes.

Those victories were not only a referendum on the Tinubu government but also an overwhelming vote of confidence by Nigerians. Clearly, the ADC will do better in a circus arena than on the political rostrum.

As our people wisely remind us, “The hen’s cackle does not stop the sunrise.” No amount of idle chatter from the ADC can derail the historic mandate and steady leadership of President Tinubu.

The so-called prophecy of a one-term presidency is nothing but wishful thinking from a party whose best days are behind it- if indeed it ever had any.

The Lagos APC urges Nigerians to ignore the distractions of political lightweights and remain steadfast in supporting President Tinubu’s administration.

The ADC, an Association of Serial Defectors, is already on political life support and will soon fizzle into oblivion.

President Tinubu is not just running a government – he is consolidating a legacy that generations will reckon with.

The attention of the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a mischievous and reckless statement credited to former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is plotting a “life presidency.”

Ordinarily, such careless talk would be ignored, but for the purpose of clarity and truth, we respond as follows:

President Tinubu is a lifelong democrat. His political journey is rooted in the pro-democracy struggles of the 1990s when he stood shoulder to shoulder with other patriots in NADECO, risking his freedom and safety to end military dictatorship.

To now suggest that the same man who resisted tyranny is scheming to perpetuate himself in office is both laughable and shameful.

Tinubu has consistently defended constitutionalism. At no time in his long public service record has he ever supported tenure elongation.

On the contrary, he openly opposed attempts by past leaders to extend their stay beyond constitutional limits. His fidelity to the constitution is tested, proven, and unquestionable.

Nigeria’s democracy is stronger than any individual’s ambition. The constitution provides for term limits, checks, and balances, making the idea of “life presidency” nothing but an idle conspiracy theory.

By spreading such lies, El-Rufai insults not only the President but also the Nigerian people who are the ultimate custodians of democracy.

This is another case of political mischief by El-Rufai. Nigerians have come to know him as a man of double-speak, who says one thing today and the exact opposite tomorrow depending on where his personal interest lies.

It is unfortunate that someone who once hailed President Tinubu as a visionary leader has now chosen the path of petty blackmail.

El-Rufai is hardly in a position to lecture anyone about democracy. Nigerians have not forgotten his own flirtations with anti-democratic tendencies in Kaduna, where he manipulated laws and institutions in a desperate attempt to consolidate personal power.

To accuse President Tinubu of “life presidency” while carrying such baggage is the height of hypocrisy. Even more ironic is that Nasir El-Rufai sits comfortably in the front row of the ignoble list of those who never fought for democracy but benefited immensely from it – alongside others who were either hiding in government corridors or actively enjoying the spoils of dictatorship while true patriots like Tinubu were in exile or in the trenches.

He was in good company with his coalition cohorts- Peter Obi, Abubakar Atiku and the vain glorious and not so successful leaders of yester-years who continue to betray their statesmanship in words and deeds.

6.President Tinubu remains focused on service. Rather than waste time on distractions, he is tackling Nigeria’s economic restructuring, strengthening national security, and building enduring institutions.

His legacy will be measured by reforms, inclusive governance, and the consolidation of democracy  – not by the fantasies of bitter politicians who have lost political relevance.

Finally, we can only plead that help should arrive quickly for Nasir El-Rufai before it is too late. His recent utterances suggest a troubling descent into political paranoia.

If nothing is done, history may remember him less as a leader and more as a man in urgent need of political rehabilitation.
