Breaking: Bala’s name appears in PDP gov’ship primary ballot

Bala Mohammed, the incumbent governor of Bauchi state and a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, was named on the PDP ballot papers for the state’s gubernatorial primary election on Wednesday.

In a press conference following the appearance of Bala’s name on the ballot, Bauchi state PDP Chairman Hamza Koshe Akuyam blamed the appearance of the PDP presidential aspirant on an error by the party’s national secretariat.

“Yes, the name of His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed appeared on our Governorship primary ballot papers due to an error on the part of our National Secretariat.” Governor Bala is not running for governor in Bauchi right now; instead, he is a candidate for President in our party’s upcoming presidential primary.

Meanwhile, the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has nominated Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim, the immediate past Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, as its gubernatorial candidate.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate expressed gratitude to the party’s delegates for choosing him to be the party’s flag bearer in the upcoming general elections in his acceptance speech.

Barrister Kashim, who stated that he was prepared for the task ahead, promised to build on the achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration for the state’s rapid development.

“The journey begins today, and we must work together to complete the task at hand, and our party must be united in order for people to vote for us in order for us to win the election.” Our current Governor, Bala Mohammed, has made significant contributions to the development of Bauchi State, and we must continue to build on his achievements. We are prepared to take over the reins of Bauchi State’s leadership and deliver effectively.”

Breaking: Obi Dumps PDP, to Pursue Presidential Ambition in Another Party

Dr. Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has dropped out of the presidential race and abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Obi announced his departure from the PDP in a letter to Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman.

Obi stated in the letter that he was writing to inform Ayu of his resignation from the PDP, which he had already informed the PDP chairman in Agulu Ward 1, Aniocha Local Government Area, Anambra State.

“I am writing to inform you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, which was delivered to the chairman of Agulu Ward 2, Aniocha LG, Anambra, on May 20.”

“As a result, I am informing you by letter of my withdrawal from the PDP Presidential primaries,” Obi said.
Obi said it had been a great honor to contribute to the nation-building effort through the PDP, but he bemoaned the party’s unhealthy developments, which led to his resignation.

“Unfortunately, recent events within our party have made it practically impossible to continue participating and contributing in such a constructive manner.

“Our country’s problems are deep-seated, and we must all make significant sacrifices in order to save it.” Even if the method changes, my commitment to saving Nigeria remains unchanged.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to you for your generosity and leadership. In the letter, Obi said, “I wish you well and the best of luck in serving our country.”

Breaking: Governor Makinde wins Oyo Governorship primaries

Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has won the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary.

Makinde received 1,040 votes from delegates, defeating Mr Hazeem Gbolarunmi, who received two votes.

On Wednesday, the primary was held at Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Makinde emerged as the PDP governorship candidate for Oyo State, according to the returning officer, Ben Obi, who was represented by Abdullahi MaiBasia, who announced the results.

Six votes were invalidated out of a total of 1,048 votes cast.

Ekweremadu Drops Out of Enugu Governorship Race

Ike Ekweremadu, a former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, has withdrawn from today’s Enugu Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election.

It should be noted that his exit from the governorship race follows that of two other contenders, Capt. Evarest Nnaji and Denge Joseph Onoh.

Senator Ekweremadu will not run in the PDP governorship primary, according to a statement signed by the Director-General of the Ikeoha Campaign Organisation, Hon. Charles Ogbo Asogwa, dated May 25, 2022.

“We wish to inform our supporters and Nigerians that Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy President of the Senate and foremost governorship aspirant in Enugu State, will not be participating in the PDP governorship primary election scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2022,” the statement read.

“In the meantime, we continue to trust God as we thank our throngs of supporters and the good people of Enugu State for their unwavering commitment to the realisation of the “Pathway to a New Enugu State.”

“We urge them to remain calm and assure them that we will keep them informed of our decision on how to proceed.”

Osun Guber: Liberians Donate $100,000 to Ogunbiyi, Urge Osun Indigenes to Vote for Him

A delegation of Liberian Eminent Persons paid a visit to Accord Party (AP) governorship candidate Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, yesterday, to express gratitude for his positive contributions to the country’s economic growth.

The Liberian delegation, led by Ambassador Dew Tuan-Wleh Mayson and his wife, Roberta, donated $100,000 to Ogunbiyi and included a representative from the Disability Union of Liberia (DUL), DJ Constance, and the chairman of the Organization of Liberians Abroad (OLA).

Mayson, who is also a professor, said that while travelling to Nigeria was difficult at the time, they had to come and show their support for Ogunbiyi, saying: “He is a distinguished and reliable individual, and Osun State will be fortunate to have him as their governor.”

He went on to explain how the incoming governor has aided the people in Liberia in terms of entrepreneurship, and how he has touched and freed many lives from poverty.

According to the delegate’s leader, Ogunbiyi started his company in Liberia from “scratch” and has grown to become a conglomerate.

While presenting Ogunbiyi with a $100,000 donation and a book written by Mayson, the professor stated that if the Osun people understood the candidate’s tenacity and capacity, as well as what he accomplished in a country that had been devastated by war, they would not consider anyone else for the governorship position in the state.

Constance, who is currently the president of DUL, went on to say how Ogunbiyi was a great help when the organisation needed it in Liberia, and he ended his speech with a song to show his appreciation for the Accord Party’s standard bearer.

In his response, Ogunbiyi, who had business interests in Liberia, Niger Republic, and the United Kingdom, thanked God for the steps he took to establish his company in Liberia after the war in 1996, and for the success he has since achieved.

He also stated that his desire to be the state governor was motivated by his love for the country, Osun State, and its people.

“In the corporate world, I am a colossus,” he claims. Only for the sake of our people am I running for this leadership position. When the PDP wrecked the country for 16 years, the APC has made things worse.

“For the past 12 years, the APC has ruled Osun State. In productivity, agriculture, education, mining, and health care, there is no initiative. We can’t stand by and watch them further degrade this state, because the state is deteriorating with each passing day, despite the fact that resources exist to improve it.”

“What is the source of his income?” Ogunbiyi reportedly asked, seemingly in response to PDP governorship candidate Senator Nurudeeen Adeleke’s recent boast that he would give money incentives to the people of the state. What kind of work is he doing, and how will he make money?”

If elected, he said, his government would inherit the state’s liabilities and assets, as well as pay off the state’s debts.

Uzo built a $500 million state-of-the-art, fully-equipped mother and child care complex at Odumegwu Ojukwu teaching hospital in Awka thanks to his friendly influence at Chevron Nigeria Ltd, where he works.

Comrade Uzo has spent the majority of his holidays bringing cash and food to the sick and recipients of his scholarship to ensure that they have a happy Christmas.

Reality Forum, founded by Comrade Uzo Nwosu, has offices in Nnewi, Ozubulu, and Ukpo to ensure that the lives of the less fortunate are improved.

In Ebonyi, APGA holds primaries for the House of Assembly

– Abakaliki The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has chosen 24 candidates to represent the party in the 2023 Ebonyi House of Assembly election.

The party’s state secretariat, located along the Abakaliki-Enugu express road, hosted the primary election on Tuesday. According to our sources, voting was conducted by three-man ad-hoc ward delegates. The election was described as credible, transparent, and seamless by Mr Ricky Okorouka, APGA’s state chairman, who briefed journalists shortly after the exercise.

The candidates were chosen in accordance with the electoral law, INEC guidelines, and the party’s constitution, according to him.
He said the party’s readiness to offer the people of Ebonyi a credible alternative in 2023 was evidenced by the peaceful and rancour-free election, adding that APGA was founded on the platform of love.

“Our House of Assembly primary election was quite successful; we had one aspirant in each of the 22 state constituencies that contested the election, with the exception of Ezza North-East and Ezza North-West, where we had about five aspirants who contested the tickets,” he said.

“The exercise went off without a hitch and was completely fair; INEC officials were on hand to monitor the proceedings, and security agents were on hand to ensure that everything we did was peaceful and successful.”

2023: I Have Stopped Partisan Politics — Ex-President Obasanjo Tells Visiting Governors Wike, Makinde, Ortom

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that he is no longer involved in partisan politics, but that he wishes for Nigeria to overcome its numerous problems.
Obasanjo stated that a single effort would not be enough to solve the country’s problems, and that Nigerians must band together to solve the issues.

He said this to reporters shortly after receiving Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke, and others in Abeokuta.
In continuation of his consultations across the six geopolitical zones, Rivers Governor Wike paid a visit to the ex-president.
Obasanjo praised Wike’s courage, particularly the manner in which he pursued his goals.
He did, however, tell his guests that he had long since stopped being a partisan politician, but that he would continue to look out for Nigerians’ interests.

He claimed that if Nigeria enshrined the basic ingredients that would bring unity and inclusion, everything else would fall into place to help remove conflict, and the country would be able to solve insecurity and other issues.
Wike, for one, said zoning was in the PDP’s constitution and in line with the nation’s constitution, which also provided for fairness and equity, and that the party had thrown its presidential ticket open, and that he was willing to run in the primary election.
“I am confident that I have what it takes to win both the PDP primaries and the general election,” he said. I commit to working for Nigeria’s and Nigerians’ unity, stability, and security.”

Osun thugs attack journalists with axes and cutlasses during the governorship election

The APC chairman in Osun, Gboyega Famodun, has condemned the alleged political thugs’ attack on journalists on Monday.
Mr Famodun expressed his condolences to the journalists and members of the public who were assaulted when the party’s governorship campaign train stopped in Gbongan, Aiyedaade local government, on Tuesday.
“Wicked, uncivilised, crude, callous, shocking, inhuman, and against the tenets of democracy,” the chairman said of the attack.
“I’m baffled as to why the attack happened,” he said. Mr Famodun went on to say that the attack was perpetrated by opponents fearful of losing the governorship election.

Mr Famodun went on to say that physical and verbal attacks on Governor Gboyega Oyetola would not stop him from winning his re-election bid on July 16.
While leaving the governorship campaign in Gbongan, the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ bus, which contained journalists, was attacked by suspected political thugs.

The attackers assaulted APC members’ vehicles with cutlasses, cudgels, axes, stones, and other weapons, injuring many.

After returning to the state capital, the injured journalists were taken to a private hospital in Osogbo’s Ogo-Oluwa Area for treatment.

Internal Party Democracy: YPP Must Do The Right Thing

The Young Progressives Party has a well-deserved reputation as a political party committed to fairness and internal democracy.

The charismatic National Leader’s profile has clearly rubbed off on the YPP, which has received praise from pundits across the political spectrum for always attempting to “do the right thing.”

If the rumours are true, the YPP is on the verge of irreparable damage if its leaders abandon the fledgling party’s founding principles and embrace favouritism as candidates prepare for the primaries that will determine candidates for the general elections in 2023.

There is widespread concern as rumours circulate that certain individuals have been named “anointed candidates,” a clear rejection of the YPP’s ideals and internal democratic process. And, while these rumours have yet to be proven, given the National Leader’s presumed unimpeachable integrity, we hope they are false.

While we cross our fingers, we urge the party’s leadership to do the right thing and ensure fairness in the nomination process in order to avoid the party imploding. It will be unfair if the YPP does not ensure that all of its members who wish to seek the party’s nominations for the purpose of contesting elective offices have a level playing field.

Mr Nnamdi Udeaja AKA Banquo, we understand, is currently one of the most popular candidates in the YPP. In the tumultuous Anambra political landscape, he is widely regarded as one of the few candidates capable of challenging the APGA and PDP’s dominance.

Mr. Nnamdi Udeaja is a man of strong character and integrity who has demonstrated that he cares about the people’s interests, and he deserves the opportunity to prove himself to the people of Nnewi North and Anambra.

The YPP must avert this impending disaster and take the necessary steps to avoid playing right into the opposition’s hands.
