Father’s Day: Discharge Your Responsibilities At Home, Clerics Urges Fathers

……...Enjoins Fathers to show exemplary leadership qualities,be worthy role models.

.….As Breath of God Ministry, Lagos celebrates fathers day in style.

    Emmanuel lkpeama.

As Fathers Celebrated World Father’s day on Sunday, Fathers has been urged to lead and discharge spiritual responsibility at homes in order to grow their families in the path of God.

Pastor Steve Adesanya Olufolahan, General Overseer of Breath Of God Ministry, Ejigbo, Lagos gave the advice in his sermon titled “Fathers responsibility to their children” to commemorate the 2024 Father’s Day in Lagos.

He said some fathers had relegated the responsibility of ensuring the spiritual well being of their family to the mothers contrary to the teachings of the Bible as it is the responsibility of fathers to transmit the word of God to their families.Pastor Olufolahan who took his text from the book of Proverbs 17:6 went further to state that there are lots of fathers who have failed in their responsibilities as they have allowed the flood of evil in the society to overwhelm them, thereby giving their children undue liberty to partake in the evil going on in the society.

The highly respected Cleric admonished fathers to always exhibit actions that are worthy of emulation in all their actions for a better society.

“God gave specific instructions to man and will still ask you fathers where are you when things go wrong in your families because God expects men to be responsible for their families and people who He puts under their care,’’ he stated.

“Any society with a complete family is always denied of criminalities and a blessing to the nation, enhancing development.

The Cleric opined that there are two kinds of fathers”there are two classification of Fathers, the wicked father and the good father. Menesah is a good example of a wicked and sinful father, one who brought strange gods to the temple of God, while his children watch him. The wicked father is divided into 3 kind of people; the permissive fathers, Absentee fathers and weak fathers. On the other hand, Noah and Abraham are example of the good father as they raised their children in a godly way despite they were living in a corrupt society.l want to urge all fathers to arise and do the needful by living up to their responsibility.”he submitted.

The Men’s Coordinator,Breath of God Ministry, Brother Oloma Michael Oritsegbubemi urges fathers to see their lives as a book that their children and wives is looking unto to read, see and understand in other to follow their footsteps.

Brother Michael advises fathers to always watch their characters so as to avoid misleading their children as they are the mirror of the family, adding that they must have a relationship with God and have God’s word in them before leading their family or else they would mislead them.

He added that the responsibilities of a father go beyond putting food on the table or bringing money but also bringing the family up in the way of God, urging them to spend excellent time with their families.

Highlight of the event were presentation of songs, drama, bible recitation by the fathers.

In another development, the Presiding Pastor of Assemblies Of God Church, Ejigbo 2, Lagos,Rev Dr Timpaul noted that every father should always ask God for three patterns of empowerment such as spiritual empowerment, financial and breakthrough empowerment and ideal empowerment in other to take care of their homes.

Rev Timpaul noted that fathers major responsibility is to train and provide for their children and as such should learn to return home and strive to understand their homes as well as individual differences in their children which makes them unique from one another in terms of character and view point.

  • Playing politics with religion has devastating effect – Bishop Kukah

Playing politics with religion has devastating effect – Bishop Kukah

Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto State has warned politicians that using religion to manipulate politics will have a devastating effect on the development in the country.

Bishop Kukah noted that just as it happened in Germany during the reign of Adolf Hitler, such moves by politicians in the country would come with a grave consequence.

He made the observation on Tuesday in Abuja during the presentation of his new book, “Broken Truth,” as part of activities lined up for his 70th birthday.

He observed that looking at history, there is a consequence for using religion to manipulate politics, saying that there is the need to look at Germany as the consequences are there to see in Hitler.

Bishop Kukah opined that the problem is that the Nigerian political elites lacked the mental capacity to understand the consequences of the fire they were stoking.

He observed that there was nothing to suggest that the average person who is living in the north, whether Fulani or Hausa, could say that they were proud of the Nigerian political system, beyond a very tiny percentage.

He added, “So, if you decide that you want to give privilege to a religion or an ethnic group, what will happen is that others automatically become outsiders.”

According to him, agitations are ongoing in the country, saying that the citizens were more intelligent than those steering the affairs of the country.

He stressed that it would not have been a bad thing if people who don’t know seek knowledge.

Gunmen Kidnap Two Catholic Priests In Edo

The reports that two Catholic Reverend Fathers were abducted in the state on Saturday have been confirmed by the Edo State Police Command.

Reverend Fathers Uboh Philemon of St. Joseph Retreat Center and Rev. Fr. Udom Peterm of Uromi Catholic Church, both of Ugboha, Esan South East local government, were abducted as they were returning to their parish following an event.

Gunmen ambushed the pair on the Benin-Auchi road between Ekhor and Iruekpen axis on Saturday as they were reportedly travelling from Benin to Ugboham after attending the programme.

Speaking on behalf of the State Police Command, Rev. Father Emos Holiness of St Dominic Catholic Church in Ugboha’s Mission Road confirmed to Chidi Nwabuzor that the police had received information about the kidnapping of the two reverend fathers through the divisional police officer of Ugboha.

In order to rescue the victims unharmed, Nwabuzor claimed that the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, had sent out a team of police officers to conduct a serious manhunt of the criminals.

This new development comes just one week after kidnappers in the state killed abducted Catholic priest Christopher Odia.

It had been revealed that Odia, the priest in charge of St. Michael Catholic Church in the Ikabigbo community of the Etsako West local government of Edo, was kidnapped last week as he was getting ready for mass.

  • Adeboye says, “Anyone who blasphemes Jesus will taste God’s fire”

Adeboye says, “Anyone who blasphemes Jesus will taste God’s fire”

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, stated that from now on, anyone who blasphemes Jesus will face God’s wrath.

Adeboye made the remarks during the RCCG’s monthly Holy Ghost Service for the month of July, which took place late Friday/early Saturday.

The cleric made it clear that he was responding to “one funny fellow” who claimed that some women prayed to Ogun (god of thunder) to curse the terrorists who massacred worshippers in Owo church because “Bros J” (a popular nickname for Jesus among Nigerians) did not respond to them.

Meanwhile, Daddy Freeze, a controversial On-Air Personality, made the remark while reacting to a video of some women cursing the attackers of Owo church.

“When dem call bros J and he don’t answer dem nko?” Freeze wrote last month. We abandoned African paganism in order to embrace European pagan ideologies. This will not end until we start telling ourselves the truth and take our security issues more seriously. “Christ’s message is love, and that is the first thing that is sorely lacking in Nigeria.”

“I understand that one funny fellow said that some people were calling on Ogun because Jesus didn’t answer them,” Adeboye responded.

Well, according to a Yoruba proverb, the mouth that the snail uses to blaspheme God, that mouth would kiss the ground. Anyone who dares to blaspheme Jesus Christ will now taste the fire of the Almighty God.”

Speaking further about church attacks, the cleric known as Daddy G.O stated:

“I don’t want to say much because I know some people will twist whatever I say.” But I’ve searched the Bible from beginning to end and found no place where God says a child of God cannot defend himself.

“Please let me know if you find the location.” He advised turning left if they slapped you on the right cheek. What did he say if they now slap the left? Do you know what it means when God is silent? It simply means, over to you.

“Every enemy of the church will be consumed by God’s fire as long as my Father is still on the throne, as long as Jesus lives, as long as His name is the consuming fire.” I’m not talking to everyone, o, I’m just talking to my kids.”

  • Igbo Christian Ministers Attack Father Mbaka Over Peter Obi Attack

Igbo Christian Ministers Attack Father Mbaka Over Peter Obi Attack

LAGOS – The Christian Association of Igbo Ministers (CAIM) has reacted to Rev. Father Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry’s recent attack on Labour Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the association stated that what Father Mbaka mistook for stinginess was actually prudence in financial management.

In a statement signed by Apostle (Dr.) Solomon C. Okorie, CAIM’s International President, and Rev. Dr. Francis Ujunwa Simeon, International Secretary, the clerics emphasized that Nigeria now needed a leader who could prudently manage the country’s vast human, material, and financial resources for the benefit of the citizenry, rather than a spendthrift.

“Considering his ancestors, Peter Obi is the right man,” the group emphasized. The story of Rev. Father Mbaka’s virulent attack on Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, asserting that he would fail in the 2023 presidential election because he is stingy” has recently dominated social and mainstream media.

According to the clerics, Mbaka vowed to close his Adoration Ministry if Obi won the election, despite urging his thronging parishioners not to vote for the LP candidate.

The CAIM allegation of Peter Obi’s stinginess can be traced back to 2018, when Father Mbaka reportedly asked Obi to publicly announce the amount he would donate to his Adoration Ministry.

According to reports, Obi wanted Father Mbaka to show him a specific project for him to execute, which irritated the cleric, who allegedly warned Obi that unless he paid the money, he and Atiku Abubakar would not win the 2019 presidential election.

“His grudge against Peter Obi persists to this day, despite the hypocritical apology he made to Obi at the behest of his Church superiors,” CAIM stated.

“What Father Mbaka mistook for stinginess is actually prudence in financial management.” Nigeria now requires a leader who can prudently manage the country’s vast human, material, and financial resources for the benefit of the people, not a spendthrift. Given his history, Peter Obi is the right man.

“Father Mbaka’s words and actions violate Christian ministerial ethics.” For starters, a minister harboring malice and bitterness against a Church member for more than four years because of any perceived offense is a direct violation of the doctrine of love.

“Secondly, it smacks of simony for a minister to curse anyone because he or she fails to donate money or reciprocate any ministerial service rendered in cash or in kind.”

“Donations or expressions of gratitude to a Church or its minister must be done willingly and cheerfully, not under duress or manipulation.” God’s power is intended for God’s glory and the blessing of mankind, not for financial gain. God knows how to reward His servants.

“Our Lord Jesus Christ healed ten lepers, but only one returned to express gratitude.” Jesus Christ did not curse the nine who did not return to express their gratitude in word, cash, or kind.

“However, why should Father Mbaka curse Peter Obi?” Where did he get that information? Certainly not from the Lord Jesus Christ!”

While Father Mbaka had the right to vote for any presidential candidate of his choice, the group maintained that he should not hide under the cassocks to settle old scores. “With an imperial tone of finality, Father Mbaka ‘decreed’ that Peter Obi will never be Nigeria’s president because of his’stinginess,” according to CAIM.

“Father Mbaka abuses his prophetic office by whimsically granting himself the authority to decide who rules a country.” That power is solely God’s because He is the only One who “deposes kings and sets up kings…” He is the one “… who rules over the kingdom of men and gives it to whom He pleases” (Dan. 2: 21; 4: 25,32).

“Father Mbaka’s public vilification of Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, in pursuit of a personal vendetta is a great disservice to the Igbo nation.”

“It is most unfortunate that the only Igbo presidential candidate who has received widespread support is being demarketed by a supposedly enlightened priest who understands Ndigbo’s current mood.” Father Mbaka’s cut against Obi, like Brutus’, is the “most unkindest cut of all.”

“We applaud the Catholic Bishop of Enugu for taking stern disciplinary action against the errant priest for jeopardizing the Catholic Church’s ecclesiastical integrity.”

“We condemn Father Mbaka’s utterances and actions, which are not only contrary to Obi’s political interests, but also to the collective aspiration of Ndigbo and Nigerians in general.”

“We equally condemn in the strongest terms all Igbo individuals who are acting as spoilers to our political aspirations for filthy lucre.” “Beware.”

  • IPOB tells Buhari and his administration to stop showing their public hatred for Igbos

IPOB tells Buhari and his administration to stop showing their public hatred for Igbos

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) urged President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration to stop showing their ignorance of and animosity toward Igbos on Friday.

IPOB was responding to Buhari’s most recent statement, made in Rwanda, that Kanu had jumped bail and that his release would be challenging.

The spokesman for IPOB, Emma Powerful, urged the international community to keep an eye on Buhari’s statements.

Kanu must defend his outbursts against the Nigerian government, Buhari had told UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Powerful condemned the president’s remark and claimed it demonstrated interference in Kanu’s trial.

The president also pleaded with the international groups to label IPOB a terrorist organization.

Powerful’s statement, “Buhari and Presidency stop displaying their ignorance and hatred against Ndigbo to the public,” says in part: “Also, the presidency always releases statements accusing and holding IPOB accountable for all manner of crimes, both real and imagined. The impostor in Aso Rock’s sham accusation that IPOB is destroying oil pipelines across Nigeria, this time just days before Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s court date, was the most recent of the Nigerian government’s intimidating strategies.

Isn’t this the same Buhari who previously stated that the government would not interfere in a case that was currently before the court? He is currently using negative statements to intimidate the judge. The Nigerian Presidency’s statements, which unmistakably aim to seriously impede the judicial process, should be closely monitored by the international community and foreign governments. In his own court, can Buhari serve as a judge? Time will reveal.

“Southeast politicians and elites need to be more cautious about their security if this matter is further postponed, and perhaps, they employ private/personal security because they could become victims of these state-sponsored killings, intended to intimidate the Court into releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“Buhari continues to make absurd claims about Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, claiming that he jumped bail in 2017 in far-off Kigali, Rwanda, where the meeting of the head of the Commonwealth’s governments is taking place. Boris Johnson, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, and other respectable world leaders ought to urge Buhari to refrain from interfering in Mazi Nnamdi KANU’s legal proceedings and from intimidating judges who are dealing with IPOB-related issues.

“The Buhari Fulani government has betrayed and exposed its true agenda, which is to destroy the only bulwark standing in the way of the Fulani agenda of total fulanization and islamization of Southern Nigeria and the Middle Belt of Nigeria, by openly, shamelessly, and wickedly lobbying the international community to designate IPOB a terror group while actively encouraging the mayhem, destruction, and killings being perpetrated by Fulani terrorist Herdsmen.”
