    Following a series of tragic incidents that occurred in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State,resulting in the death of scores of residents,the Inspector-General of Police,IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,has visited the state, accompanied by senior officers.

    Investigator news reports that those who accompany the Inspector General of Police include the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Police Mobile Force, AIG Funsho Adegboye,AIG Zone 4,AIG Zachariah Fera,and Commandant Police Staff College Jos,AIG Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka.

    Upon his arrival in Plateau State, the IGP visited the State Government House, where he commiserated with the State Governor, His Excellency Caleb Mutfwang and the good people of Plateau State.

    During his discussion with Gov. Mutfwang, the IGP condemned the attacks and reassured His Excellency that the Nigeria Police Force would carry its best efforts to douse the rising tensions and bring the perpetrators of these heinous acts to justice.

    “The Nigeria Police Force once again reaffirms its commitment to the good people of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.”

    “The Force remains resolute towards bringing the perpetrators of these attacks to justice and restoring peace to the affected communities”he said

    IGP Egbetokun also seized the opportunity to hold a brief meeting with tactical commanders to review strategies employed in the deployment of police operational personnel and operational assets provided to further augment the available security emplacement in the state.

    The Inspector-General of Police went further to direct the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu,to take charge and oversee the operations aimed at restoring peace and serenity to Plateau State.

    It was all celebrations and excitement as the good people of Ugborikoko community in Uvwie LGA witnessed the commissioning of the newly built Ugborikoko Modern Police Station.

    The building which was built and furnished by Tantita security service Nigeria LTD contains state of the art facilities which includes a constructed quarter guard post, a dedicated generator house, drainage construction to ensure a healthy and safe environment, and reconstruction of the police hall giving it a modern and functional design.

    Investigator news reports that the commissioned project also includes two hilux vehicles for operational mobility,  30KVA soundproof generator and a 30KVA solar system to ensure uninterrupted power supply, CCTV cameras and computer systems to enhance surveillance and digital operations, television sets, air-conditioning units, fully equipped conference room and interrogation room.

    The MD Tantita security services Nigeria LTD High Chief Kestin E. Pondi in his remark stated that as a private security with local roots and global reach, Tantita Security service Nigeria LTD understands that no society can thrive without peace and security.

    He also noted that peace and security is a result of collaboration between the community and the government and the first line of defense of preserving peace in Nigeria is the Nigeria Police Force.

    “The decision to build the Police station is a mark of Tantita’s commitment to rebuild the peace in Warri and improve the security of lives and properties for all residence in warri, effurun and environs.”he said

    The building was commissioned by the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun who was represented by the AIG Zone 5 AIG Salman-Dogo Garba.

    Also in attendance at the occasion was His Excellency the Governor of Delta State Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented by the Secretary to State Government Dr Kingsley Emu,The Commissioner of Police Delta State,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda,the representative of the Commissioner of Police Oyo State Command,CP Johnson Adenola,Senior officers which includes two Deputy Commissioner of Police,Assistant Commissioner of Police,the DPO Ugborikoko Division CSP Temi Agbede  Zuokuomor,Traditional rulers,religions leaders amongst others.

    The Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,in his remarks thanked Tantita security service and the MD Tantita security services Nigeria LTD, High Chief Keston .E. Pondi  for making this project possible.

    The IGP opined that the donation also reflects not only a commitment to the well being of the community but also a deep trust in the role the police force plays in maintaining peace, law and order.

    IGP Egbetokun assured all that the new police station is not just a place where officers will work but also a place where the people can engage positively with the Police, and work together to build a safer and stronger community.

    Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested two principal suspects allegedly involved in the killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, Esan North-East local government area of Edo State last week.

    The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Friday Ituah, announced this in a statement on Tuesday 1, April 2025

    He said the suspects were apprehended in Uromi town following credible intelligence.

    According to him, operatives of various security agencies are hunting for other key suspects involved in the unfortunate incident.

    Ituah stated that they have been transferred to Abuja for further interrogation and prosecution by the relevant authorities.

    Investigator news reports that on Monday, the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo paid a condolence visit to Kano State.

    He revealed that 14 suspects had already been arrested in connection with the killing and were to be moved to Abuja for further interrogation.

    Governor Okpebholo, who visited the State to condole with the government and families of the victims, had vowed that justice would be served and those involved in the killing would be brought to justice.

    Governor Okpebholo had also assured the families of the victims that adequate compensations would be paid.

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an extension of Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap’s tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) through December 31, 2026.

    In a release signed by the Presidential Spokesperson,Mr Bayo Onanuga,Tinubu commended the Comptroller-General for her exemplary leadership and urged her to continue dedicating herself to the Service’s strategic priorities, which align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

    Investigator news reports that Mrs Nandap began her career in the Nigeria Immigration Service on October 9, 1989.

    President Tinubu appointed her as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, to serve till August 31, 2025.

    Under her leadership, the Nigeria Immigration Service has witnessed significant advancements in its core mandate, with notable improvements in border management, modernisation of immigration processes and national security measures.

    The President went further to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Immigration Service in fulfilling its mandate to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and promote safe, legal, and orderly migration.

    In celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA)has sent a heartfelt felicitations to all Muslims across Lagos State as they join their counterparts globally in observing this momentous occasion.

    In a release signed by the Director,Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department,Mr Adebayo Taofiq,the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki enjoins all Muslim faithful to embody and uphold the virtues of kindness, compassion, tolerance, peace, self-discipline, sacrifice, and harmonious coexistence, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

    He stated that in its concerted effort to enhance road safety during the festivities, LASTMA has intensified its public enlightenment campaigns across motor parks and garages, noting that the initiatives are aimed at sensitizing drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations.

    The General Manager particularly warns against common traffic infractions such as excessive speeding, dangerous overtaking,lane violations, road obstructions, disregard for traffic signals, overloading, and driving against traffic,while educating passengers on their rights, including the necessity of cautioning drivers who engage in reckless speeding or attempt to drive against the designated traffic flow (‘One-way’).

    Bakare Oki went further to state that LASTMA has established two additional Zonal Offices in Lekki and Sangotedo to bolster traffic monitoring and ensure strict compliance with road safety regulations in these high-traffic areas.

    He said,”To effectively manage vehicular movement before, during, and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, over 3,500 LASTMA officials will be strategically deployed across the state.

    “Additionally, patrol and recovery vehicles will be stationed at critical points to facilitate swift intervention in cases of road obstructions, breakdowns, or emergencies.”

    “The Agency remains resolute in its zero-tolerance stance against all forms of traffic violations resulting from negligence, which may impede the free flow of traffic across the state.”he submitted

    In a strategic move to inculcate traffic discipline and awareness from an early age, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has intensified its Lagos State School Traffic Safety Advocacy Programme (LSTSAP) under the visionary initiative tagged “Operation Catch Them Young.”

    This meticulously crafted programme is designed to foster a profound understanding of road safety principles while mitigating traffic-related hazards.

    The initiative which was re-launched recently has been reinvigorated to ensure broader reach and heightened impact.

    Through this advocacy drive, LASTMA officials systematically engage secondary school students across Lagos State’s six educational districts, equipping them with crucial knowledge of traffic signs, regulations and safety protocols on every Wednesdays of the week.

    Reiterating the programme’s significance, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, underscored that embedding traffic consciousness in young minds is pivotal to nurturing a disciplined and law-abiding society.

    He emphasized that early exposure to road safety tenets not only enhances pedestrian and commuter safety but also fosters a generation of responsible road users—whether as future drivers, cyclists, or pedestrians.

    According to Hon. Sola Giwa “the revitalization of ‘Operation Catch Them Young’ is in alignment with the State Government’s commitment to a safer, more orderly, and seamlessly structured transportation system. By empowering students with critical traffic knowledge, Lagos State is proactively shaping a future where adherence to road regulations becomes instinctive among its citizens”

    The Commissioner of Police Delta State,CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has reaffirm and assures residents in the State of the command’s commitment to providing security for all and ensuring that the entire state is safe.

    In a press release signed and issued by the Police Public Relations Officer,SP Edafe Bright,CP Abaniwonda stated that the command is aware of series of complaints emanating from Ogwashi-uku circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms of incessant kidnapping and armed robbery in the area.

    The release went on to say that the Commissioner of Police has directed the Deputy Commissioner of police operations DCP Aina Adesola to deploy tactical teams to Ogwashi-Uku and the area Commander Ogwashi-Uku to coordinate the operation.

    Investigator news reports that in compliance with this directive, deployments of combat operatives were drawn from Dragon Patrol, Eagle-Net, and Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and posted to various nipping points in Ogwshi-Uku.

    The Police image maker noted that the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad (SAKCCS) has been mandated to relocate to Ogwashi-Uku and to embark on intelligence-driven policing to ensure that all suspected kidnappers and armed robbers carrying out these nefarious activities are arrested and brought to justice.

    He said ,”In addition to these deployments, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) have been directed to embark on undercover policing duties and intelligence gathering in the area.”

    The Nigeria Police Force, in line with its commitment to enhancing leadership capacity and fostering professional development is set to hold the 5th edition of its annual conference and retreat for Senior Police Officers with the theme “Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing”.

    The event is scheduled to take place from 24th February to 27th February 2025, in the capital city of Ogun State, Abeokuta.

    Investigator news reports that more than 170 Senior Police Officers are set to converge in Abeokuta for intensive workshops, strategic discussions, and team-building exercises.

    In a release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer,ASP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that this retreat serves as a vital platform for sharing best practices and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Force.

    The Nigeria Police Force has advised the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke to suspend the local government election scheduled for Saturday, February 22.

    In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that the Police received credible intelligence indicating a high likelihood of violence and significant security threats should the planned elections proceed, stating that reports gathered from joint intelligence gathering revealed that various groups, including political elements and other interested parties, are mobilizing to instigate unrest, disrupt public peace and undermine the democratic order.

    The PPRO added that given the imminent threat to security, the NPF strongly advised the Osun State Government to suspend the planned elections forthwith in the interest of public safety and national stability.

    He went further to state that the Force has assessed the current security landscape and determined that proceeding with the elections under these volatile conditions could escalate into widespread unrest, endangering lives and property as the Force has restated its preparedness to take decisive action to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

    Investigator news reports that the police statement is coming after the Osun State High Court in Ilesa ordered the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, (OSSIEC), to conduct elections for the vacant positions of chairmen and councillors in the 30 local government areas of the South-West state.

    Meanwhile the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke,has insisted that there is no going back on the local government election in the South-West state despite an appeal from the Federal Government

    The governor made this known in a statement  by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, despite an appeal from the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, to suspend the polls.

    “As for me and my people, we stand by the rule of law, not illegal self-help. Election is going to hold, and the outcome will be a fast-tracked development at the local level. I urge our people to remain peaceful. Osun is a truly peaceful state,” the statement read

    “Our people are prepared for elections tomorrow. They yearn to have their choices as chairmen and councillors. OSIEC has also done a marvelous preparatory job according to reports at my disposal. Several political parties are participating and I believe there will be a level playing ground for all to test their popularity with the masses,” the governor said.

    It will be recalled that the Attorney General of the Federation had on Thursday called on Adeleke to instruct the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission to halt the election, warning that it would be invalid and a violation of the Constitution.

    Operatives of the CP Special Assignment team of the Delta State Police Command have raided criminal hideout of some suspected kidnappers and armed robbers who have been terrorising residents of the state.

    In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer,SP Bright Edafe stated that the significant strides in its fight against crime was carried out by intelligence led investigation by ASP Julius Robinson, who raided a hideout on 2 February 2025 in Evwokenren Layout, off Ughelli Road, Agbarho.

    SP Edafe went further to state that the operatives busted the house of the fleeing gang known as Emeka (Surname Unknown) and recovered a fabricated semi-automatic Beretta pistol with four rounds of live ammunition, four locally-made cut-to-size guns, 13 rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms hidden in a black polythene bag, stating that the suspects are in the custody while a manhunt to arrest other members of his gang is ongoing.

    “Acting on an intelligence-led investigation carried out on the arrest of some suspected kidnappers on 30/01/25 who have been terrorizing Abraka/Obiaruku/Umutu, operatives of the CP Special Assignment team  (CP-SAT)  led by ASP Julius Robinson made a significant achievement when they stormed the hideout on the 02/02/25 and busted the house of the fleeing gang leader named Emeka ‘m’ surname unknown at about 1635hrs, located at Evwokenren layout off Ughelli road Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA Delta State. During the raid, a fabricated Semi-Automatic Beretta Pistol with four (4) rounds of live ammunition, four locally made cut-to-size guns, thirteen (13) rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms concealed in a black polythene bag were recovered. The suspect is in custody and a manhunt to arrest other members of his gang is ongoing.”

    Investigator news reports that the Police image maker noted that in another development,on February 19, 2025,operatives of Safer 025 of Safer Highway Patrol, while conducting a stop and search on a commercial vehicle along the Agbor/Benin express road, arrested three suspects in possession of three locally made long guns and charms.

    The PPRO opined that upon interrogation the suspects, identified as Buhari Bala aged 28, Habibu Sale (25), Abdulwahab Musa (20), and Taisu Bala (20), were found in possession of three locally-made long guns and charms.

    The suspects said they are hunters travelling from Zaria, Kaduna State going to a bush before Benin called Igbogri community for hunting expedition.SP Edafe stated that the suspects are in custody as the investigation is ongoing.

    Investigator news gathered that in an earlier development,  on the 17th  of January 2025, acting on a tip-off, the DPO Agbarho Division CSP Pius Eredei mobilized and led operatives to the apartment of one Eriga Enyuche’ aged 40yrs, and upon search of his one-room apartment, one G-3 Rifle, one pump action gun was recovered hidden in the ceiling of the room. The investigation is ongoing.

    The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has reiterated that the command under his watch will not relent in the fight against crime and criminality, noting that Delta state will remain hot for criminals.
