    The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,on Thursday 20,February 2025,decorated nineteen (19) Senior Police Officers with their new ranks amidst cheers from families, friends, and well-wishers.

    The decoration ceremony which took place at the Goodluck Jonathan International Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja saw the elevation of three (3) Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

    Investigator news reports that the newly decorated AIGs include AIG Garba Ahmed, AIG Nemi Edwin Osigoboka Iwo, and AIG Salman Garba Dogo.

    In addition, sixteen (16) Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioners of Police.

    The decorated CPs include CP Cyriacus Enechukwu, CP Gombit Bangs, CP Rosemary Akpan, CP Ayodele Adeyemi, among others.

    The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Prince Ma Sani-Omolori; Former Clerk to the National Assembly (The Ciroma of Ebira Land), Mr. Nebeolisa Anako; Former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission, DIG Valentine Ntomchukwu(rtd.), as well as members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired Senior Police Officers, and families of the promotees.

    The Inspector-General of Police applauded the newly promoted officers and charged them to diligently discharge the responsibilities of their new ranks.

    He urged them to leverage their extensive knowledge of policing in safeguarding the country, in strict adherence to the Rule of Law, as the Nigeria Police Force continues to emplace strategies toward a more secure nation and national development

    In a strategic move to bolster internal security and enhance operational effectiveness, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has redeployed CP Jimoh Moshood as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.

    Investigator news reports that CP Jimoh Moshood previously served in key positions including CP Communications Ops, Force Headquarters, Force Public Relations Officer, and CP Eastern Port, Rivers State before now.

    In a statement released by the Force Public Relation Officer,ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that CP Jimoh Moshood extensive background in communications, administration and public relations, combined with his operational expertise, uniquely qualifies him to head the Lagos State Police Command.

    He noted that CP Moshood’s appointment is expected to strengthen coordination among units, enhance community engagement, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in Lagos State.

    The release went on to say that the Inspector-General of Police has charged CP Jimoh Moshood to uphold the rule of law and maintain operational excellence as he assumes his new role and to lead with unwavering integrity, enforce discipline, and implement proactive strategies to safeguard lives and property.

    Tinubu Calls For Combined Maritime Task Force For The Gulf Of Guinea At AU Summit.

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the Africa Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) to prioritise the establishment of a combined maritime task force to enhance security in the Gulf of Guinea.

    At the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday, President Tinubu expressed Nigeria’s readiness to host the task force’s headquarters in Lagos.

    President Tinubu went further to convey Nigeria’s position as the AU considered the report on the AUPSC, focusing on peace and security in Africa, and the biennial report on the implementation of the Master Roadmap of Practical Steps to Silence the Guns in Africa (2023-2024).

    The statement was delivered on behalf of President Tinubu by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

    “The time has come for the African Union Peace and Security Council to prioritise the creation of a Combined Maritime Task Force for the Gulf of Guinea.

    “I wish to announce that Nigeria would like to host the headquarters of the task force in Lagos,” he said.

    Nigeria’s recommendation of a maritime task force comes on the same day that it signed an agreement with the AU to provide Strategic Sea Lift Services for AU peace support operations, natural disaster support, humanitarian actions, and personnel movement.

    Nigeria’s defence minister, Badaru Abubakar, signed the agreement. Under the agreement, the Nigerian Navy will provide a vessel for the operations on a cost-recovery basis.

    Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Justice Minister, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Naval Chief, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, and Director-General of the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed, witnessed the agreement signing. Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, signed for the AU.

    President Tinubu expressed satisfaction that the AUPSC had already adopted the outcomes of a high–level meeting, including the decision to upgrade the Nigerian National Counter-Terrorism Centre to a Regional Counter–Terrorism Centre.

    He also appreciated the Peace and Security Council’s decision to renew the mandate of the Multinational Joint Taskforce, addressing the twin challenges of terrorism and violent extremism in the Lake Chad Region.

    On Libya, the Nigerian leader expressed concern that the instability in the North African country has continued to worsen security challenges in the Sahel and called on the Assembly to back initiatives to restore law and order.

    “The Sahel cannot enjoy peace as long as Libya does not,” he warned.

    President Tinubu highlighted the severe insecurity affecting countries grappling with democratic transition, including Sudan, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Gabon.

    “It would not be out of place to explore the possibility of extending the inherent benefits of UN Security Council Resolution 2719 to support AU Peace Support Operations,” he said.

    In doing so, he added that the AU must try to prevent the increasing incursion of extra-continental forces, including private military companies, into African security matters.

    President Tinubu welcomed the progress in operationalizing the African Standby Force, reiterating Nigeria’s support.

    He appealed to all AU member countries and delegations to show the necessary flexibility and allow the draft MoU on the operationalisation of the standby force to be adopted.

    In line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and in accordance with Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Sections 1, 2 – 3 of the Motor Vehicle (Third-Party Insurance) Act, which mandates all vehicle owners to obtain a minimum of Third-Party Insurance before operating on Nigerian roads, the Delta State Police command is launching a strict enforcement campaign of the Third-Party Motor Vehicle Insurance on February 1, 2025.

    Investigator news reports that third-party vehicle insurance is a type of coverage that financially protects you if you’re considered responsible for damages to another persons vehicle.

    In a release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer,SP Edafe Bright stated that the Delta State Command has observed with concern that a decreasing number of vehicles in the state are insured, as reported by the Nigeria Insurance Associations.

    In response to that data, and to ensure strict compliance, the Delta State Police Command has established an enforcement team to tackle the challenge of the declining number of insured vehicles, and to ensure adequate compensation of accident victims.

    He went further to state that CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has ensured that the enforcement effort is about ensuring fairness and protecting responsible road users who follow the law.

    He encourages responsible driving, reminding Deltans that compliance with vehicle insurance laws is essential for road safety, that driving without insurance is not only illegal but also irresponsible.

    SP Edafe added that vehicular users who are uninsured puts themselves and other road users at financial risk; thereby urging all drivers to check their policies and ensure they’re covered before getting behind the wheel.

    The Force image maker went on to advised drivers to always verify that their vehicle insurance is up to date, and always carry proof of valid Third-Party Insurance when driving to avoid facing severe legal consequences not limited to vehicle seizure or impoundment and possible prosecution.

    As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and curb crimes and criminality, bringing it to the absolute minimal, the Nigeria Police Force has intensified the crackdown on various sorts of organized crime and crimes against person, particularly human trafficking and kidnapping.

    In a release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that the Police Command in Kaduna State apprehended three persons identified as Samson Peter aged 25 yrs, Haruna Duniya aged 45 yrs, and Abdulazaq Olawole aged 58 yrs on Friday 31, January,2025 at 7pm

     

    Investigator news reports that the suspects were arrested while trafficking 13 victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle. The victims were rescued, and the investigation is still ongoing.

    In the same vein,ACP Adejobi went further to state that on January 29 2025, Police operatives of the Ogun State Command carried out a covert operation and located the den of kidnappers responsible for an earlier reported abduction on January 25 2025.

    Upon sighting the operatives, the gang engaged the Police operatives in a gun duel.

    Investigator news gathered that the confrontation led to the neutralization of 5 of the gang members and the successful rescue of the 3 kidnapped victims, with the recovery of some arms and ammunition of various calibres, 3 mobile phones and the cash sum of N5.2 million (Five million, two hundred thousand Naira only). Also recovered, were the vehicles of the kidnapped victims.

    In line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Lagos State Police Command has embarked on enforcing the mandatory minimum of Third Party Motor Vehicle Insurance with effect from February 1st, 2025.

    In a release signed by the Force PRO,CSP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that vehicle owners in Lagos State are required to possess a minimum of valid Third Party Insurance.

    Those without any class of Insurance are advised to get insured immediately.

    He went on to say that the Nigeria Police Force has caution vehicle owners and operators against non-compliance with this essential regulation as failure of which will result in strict enforcement actions, including fines, penalties or both.

    He noted that this initiative is aimed to ensure vehicle owners comply with stipulated insurance requirements to protect themselves and other road users.

    Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, has charged officers on this enforcement exercise to be professional, courteous but firm in the discharge of their duties.

    He equally warned that no form of incivility to members of the public would be tolerated from them.

    “The public are enjoined to cooperate with the police as this crucial enforcement exercise is a win-win situation for all.”he stated.

    In the same vein,the Imo State Police Command has also began the enforcement of the third-party vehicle insurance policy, in compliance with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

    The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, instructed the officers to maintain the highest levels of professionalism and integrity during the enforcement exercise.

    In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the CP warned against any form of misconduct that could tarnish the reputation of the Force, stressing that any officer found violating ethical standards would face strict disciplinary action.

    The statement went further to urge vehicle owners across the state to ensure that their insurance documents are valid and up to date to avoid penalties.

    Investigator news reports that the enforcement operation is being carried out by a dedicated team comprising Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs), members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and officials from the State Internal Revenue Service.

    The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID), has urged the newly deployed Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Alakuko Police Station, CSP Ighodaro O. Malvin, to focus on ensuring the safety and security of the residents and properties within Alakuko and its surrounding areas.

    Speaking during a courtesy visit by the DPO to the council, Hon. Tijani expressed his optimism that the collaboration between the police and the council would further strengthen the efforts to maintain law and order in Ojokoro LCDA.

    The council boss emphasized the importance of securing the boundaries of the LCDA, which he identified as critical zones due to their proximity to neighboring localities.

    He reminded CSP Malvin of the growing concerns over safety in some areas, particularly with regards to border security, and the need for proactive policing strategies to address these challenges effectively.

    The Council boss also highlighted the strategic importance of partnership between law enforcement agencies and local authorities in fostering a peaceful and harmonious community.

    He assured CSP Malvin of the council’s unwavering support and cooperation in carrying out his duties, stressing that working together would be key to achieving the shared goal of a safer and more secure environment for all residents.

    Hon. Tijani reiterated his commitment to ensuring that Ojokoro LCDA remains a peaceful and progressive area. He called on the DPO to leverage his experience and expertise in the police force to address any emerging security concerns and work closely with the council in fostering peace.

    The Governor of Anambra. Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, today paid a glowing tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

    Governor Soludo praised the Nigerian Armed Forces and local vigilantes for combating terrorism and restoring peace in troubled areas like Orumba South and North, while applauding their sacrifices for freedom and pledged unwavering support for security forces in Anambra.

    He condemned the criminal activities that led to the deaths of many security personnel and called for collective action against crime.

    Announcing the launch of Operation Udo Ga Achi (Peace Will Reign) and putting in place stringent Homeland Laws to prosecute criminals effectively, Soludo emphasized the need for intelligence-sharing to tackle organized crime.

    To the military and other paramilitary agencies, Governor Soludo reiterated that “Anambra is grateful, appreciative, and will not forget,” while also pledging continued support for the security forces.

    The Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has condemned the gruesome murder and attack on innocent citizens of Tattara community in Panda Development Area, Karu, Nasarawa State at the weekend.

    The Minister who expressed deep shock at the callousness of the assailants,calls on security agents to ensure the culprits are brought to justice.

    In a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Jonathan Eze, the minister stated that her heart goes to the families and loved ones of the victims, adding that as a mother and minister of Women Affairs, the loss of lives under any circumstances is unacceptable.

    The statement reads in parts : “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the gruesome murder of innocent citizens in Tattara community, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims.

    “I condemn this heinous act in the strongest possible terms. The loss of life under any circumstances is unacceptable, and I urge security agencies to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into this incident.”

    The Minister also condoled with the governor of the state, Governor Abdullahi Sule for the devastating loss, expressing confidence that the security measures put in place by the governor would ensure that such mindless attack wont happen again, and the culprits are brought to book.

    The minister added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard in ensuring that the negative security situation in the country is brought to the barest minimum, adding that the relevant authorities should take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in Nasarawa State and beyond, and to bring those responsible for this atrocity to justice.

    Following the death of Mr Okediachi Emeka which occurred on the 14th of November 2024 which was alleged that the Police were responsible for his death.

    The Commissioner of Police CP Olufemi Abaniwonda had issued a statement on 29th November 2024 assuring members of the public and concerned family members of the deceased that he has ordered an immediate investigation with the assurance that if the Policemen were found to be culpable, they will be punished.

    Investigator news reports that the CP, as promised, ensured that a discreet investigation was carried out, which necessitated the conduct of an autopsy.

    The autopsy was carried out on the 7th December 2024 in the presence of some family members of the deceased and conducted by two pathologists, one of the pathologists was brought by the family of the deceased.

    Investigator news gathered that the command wishes to inform members of the public that the autopsy report is finally out and as promised,as the command wishes to inform members of the public of the outcome.

    “The cause of death as revealed by the autopsy report are as follows.

    1a. Hypertensive heart disease

    1b. Uncontrolled Hypertension complicated by pharmacological agents as indicated in the toxicology report which includes a concentration of hard drugs such as tramadol, Morphine, Opium, Diazepine, Amitriptyline, and Ethyl Alcohol.”

    “It is on this note that the CP therefore advises parents, wards, and particularly the youths to stay away from drug abuse as it is seen in this case. Abusing hard drugs is dangerous to the heart and could lead to untimely death.”the statement reads.
