    The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,arrived Enugu State on Friday,3rd January,2025, on a two-day official visit with the aim of strengthening security and fostering collaboration with key stakeholders in the South East region.

    Investigator news reports that the IGP was accompanied by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of the South-East, DIG Frank Mba,the AIG Zone 13, AIG Godwin n. Aghaulor; the AIG FCID Annex, Enugu, AIG Kwazhi Bzigu Dali, Commissioners of Police of Enugu and Anambra States, and other senior officers.

    As part of his engagements, the IGP paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, H.E Dr Peter N. Mbah, during which discussions centered on strategies to enhance the security architecture of the state and ensure the safety of lives and property.

    Egbetokun reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining peace and security across the country and extensively, to Enugu State.

    Following his visit to the Governor, the IGP proceeded to the Enugu Council of Traditional Rulers, where he was warmly received by the Chairman, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Asabo, and other esteemed traditional rulers.

    The Inspector-General of Police went further to emphasize the critical role of traditional institutions in enhancing community-based security initiatives and urged their continued support and collaboration in addressing security challenges in the state.

    Investigator news gathered that this visit underscores the IGP’s dedication to community-oriented policing and his resolve to engage with diverse stakeholders to strengthen trust, cooperation, and proactive crime prevention measures in Enugu State and the South-East region at large.

    Addressing the officers and men, the IGP harped on discipline, professionalism and decency, stating that every Police Officer is enjoined to portray pleasant character at all times, showing empathy to citizens while discharging their lawful duties.

    He noted that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property while fostering peace, stability, and development across the nation.

    It was all smiles and merry on Thursday,2nd January,2025 as the Delta State Command witnessed the decoration of newly promoted officers of the Command which took place at the officers mess.

    The decoration was done by the Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda on behalf of the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM.

    He was assisted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration DCP Charles Dike and other members of the Command’s management team.

    Investigator news reports that the decorated officers includes DCP Ado Ibrahim who until his promotion was the AC CID State Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Sadiq M. Mana who was until his promotion the DPO ‘A’ Division Ughelli and ACP Maiyaki Joyce Mathew who was also until her promotion the DPO Kwale Division.

    Other officers Decorated includes the Admin Officer Department of Operations CSP Obekpa Michael, the Commander Rapid Response Squad CSP Omo-Uwuigbe Nosakhare, the Commander Crack Squad CSP Mohammed Balarabe Ibrahim all of Delta State Police Command. Officers who were promoted to Superintendent of Police, and Deputy Superintendent of Police were also decorated.

    The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda after decorating them with their new rank admonished all the beneficiaries to remember that the reward for hard work is more work,advising them to put more effort while discharging their duties and ensure that they don’t disappoint the Inspector General of Police, and the public.

    In a bid to enhance the security of the communities, the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has sworn in Mr. Ken Okwuchukwu Emekakayi as the Special Adviser on Community Security.

    The event took place at the Government House in Awka on Tuesday 29, October 2024.

    In his speech, Governor Soludo reiterated the importance of community security and stated that it was a top priority of his administration.

    He noted that crimes such as armed robbery, and cultism have become rampant in some parts of the state and emphasized the need to tackle these issues head-on.

    While expressing his confidence Governor Soludo stated that with the appointment of Mr. Emekakayi to join the larger security team, the state would experience a higher level of security.

    Responding, the newly appointed Special Adviser thanked Governor Soludo for the appointment and promised to work tirelessly to ensure that the state becomes a safe haven for residents and visitors alike.

    He noted that his focus would be on community policing, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with security agencies to nip crimes in the bud.

    Investigator news reports that the swearing-in ceremony of Mr. Ken Okwuchukwu Emekakayi as the Special Adviser on Community Security in Anambra State marks a renewed commitment by the state government to tackle the rising insecurity in some parts of the state.

    With the support of relevant stakeholders, including the police and the State House of Assembly, Mr. Emekakayi is expected to bring his wealth of experience in community development to bear in the fight against crime.

    Ahead of the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Edo State schedule for Saturday, September 21,2024,the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has announced comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process during the upcoming Edo off-cycle election.

    In preparation for the election, the IGP has ordered the restriction of all vehicular movement on roads, waterways, and other forms of transportation from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day. Exceptions will be made for essential services, including accredited media, electoral officials, ambulances, and emergency responders.

    Investigator news reports that the IGP has implemented a ban on all security aides and escorts accompanying VIPs to polling booths and collation centres so as to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

    He went further to state that unauthorized security personnel and quasi-security outfits are prohibited from operating during the election, and the use of sirens by unauthorized vehicles is strictly forbidden to ensure a calm environment for voters.

    Also,the IGP mandated that special attention would be given to individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, nursing mothers, aged, and those with mobility challenges, ensuring that polling stations in both urban and rural settings are accessible to all.

    Investigator news gathered that the Inspector-General of Police, through the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) for Edo Gubernatorial Election, DIG Frank Emeka Mba, mni, has appealed to citizens to refrain from making prank calls to control room and designated help numbers, while highlighting that text messages are more effective for operational purposes.

    The designated election lines for inquiries and reporting are: DIG Election DIG Frank Mba, mni; 07025000383 and AIG Election AIG Benneth Igwe, mni; 09085000029, while the general control room numbers are 08077773721 and 08037646272. The already activated joint control room is manned by police and relevant agencies engaged in the electoral process.

    DlG Mba noted that citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or incidents that may jeopardize the integrity of the electoral process or cause disorderliness in any part of the state.

    He said,”The Inspector-General of Police underscores the necessity of adhering to these directives to avert any undue interference and intimidation during the election. Political parties, candidates, and their supporters are urged to conduct themselves responsibly and in compliance with electoral laws, as any violations or attempts to disrupt the electoral process will be met with the full extent of the law.”he said

    A non-governmental organization, Alliances for Africa has partnered the Imo State Police Command to tackle gender based violence in the State.

    Speaking during a one-day statewide training on Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law organized for the officers of Nigerian Police Force in Owerri on Friday, the Program Director, Alliances for Africa, Blessing Duru said the police and other security agencies reserve the right to arrest and prosecute violators of the law.

    Duru said, “if the police are properly involved in the fight against violence of any sort, the vulnerable especially women and girl child will be protected from sexual harassments, domestic violence, traditional abuses and other forms of gender-based violence.”

    Duru said “the essence of the training was to strengthen the capacity of the police officers by equipping them with the in-depth knowledge and understanding of Gender Based Violence, Gender Roles and Imo VAPP law of 2021 as legal framework to effectively address, investigate, and prosecute cases of gender based violence including sexual harassment”.

    “The import of the training was to develop and implement strategies within the police force to improve the support and protection of victims with focus on enhancing reporting mechanism and creating a more survivor-center approach in handling GBV and sexual harassment cases in line with the VAPP law 2021”.

    Imo Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma described the workshop as a testament to the police unwavering commitment to justice and the protection of the most vulnerable in the society, insisting that the best way to find oneself is to lose oneself in the service of others.

    “The VAPP law represents a significant advancement in our legal framework, aimed at combating violence and safeguarding the rights of every individual in Imo State”.

    “Your dedication and meticulous planning have been instrumental in making this initiative possible. Your efforts highlight the importance of professional development and demonstrate our shared resolve to address and prevent violence in our community”.

    “This program, to me, is designed to deepen our understanding of the VAPP law and equip ourselves with the tools needed for its effective implementation. The knowledge and skills we gain will be crucial in enhancing our collective ability to combat violence and uphold justice”.

Nwokedi has joined well teeming Nigerians to congratulates AlG Yetunde Longe, the first female secretary who pulled out of the force on Tuesday,27, August,2024 after attaining the mandatory age of 60years and at the same time celebrated her 60years birthday at the police college,lkeja , Lagos

    Eze Nwokedi stated this at the pull out parade ceremony of AlG Yetunde Longe, describing the celebrant as a woman of integrity and one who does not discriminate, stating that AlG longe would be remembered for her selfless service to humanity and the nation at large.

    Eze Dr C.C Nwokedi who is the President of lgbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria went further to state that AlG longe was an epitome of hard work and her life is an indication that hard work and dedication pays.

    “AlG longe is a good woman,l knew her when she was the Area commander in Area F and because she is good person,l had to cancel my engagement just to attend this epoch making event.

    “The celebrant who is prominently known for her hospitality and service to humanity is a peace loving individual who is very supportive towards the development of the Nigeria Police Force,she is also known for her honesty and transparency in all her dealings,her simplicity life is worthy of emulation.

    “Longe is a very blunt person as she does not cut corners, she does not hold anybody in mind.     Mrs Yetunde Longe, Nigeria Police Force’s first female secretary, pulled out of the force on Tuesday after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

    Investigator news reports that the pulling-out ceremony was held at the Police College, Ikeja, and was graced by police officers, family members, and friends of Longe, who retired as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

    The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of South-West, Mr. Abiodun Alabi, was among the senior officers present at the ceremony.

    Reflecting on her journey in the force, Longe said she felt fulfilled serving in the NPF.

    “As I retire from the Nigeria Police Force, after reaching the mandatory age of 60 years, I am filled with a sense of pride, of compliment, and fulfilment,” she said.

    Longe described her career as an incredible, fulfilling journey, dotted with formidable challenges.She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside dedicated officers, committed to upholding the law and protecting communities across the country.

    Longe also thanked her colleagues, superiors, family, and friends for their support throughout her career, saying she would uphold the principles of service, integrity, and excellence in her future endeavours.

    “As I embark on a new chapter in my life, I do so with a sense of optimism, excitement, and readiness for whatever challenges and opportunities lie ahead,” she said.

    The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olukayode Egbetokun, who was represented by DIG Alabi, praised the professionalism of Longe while in service, urging police officers to emulate her exemplary service.

    Egbetekun praised Longe’s bravery, commitment, and integrity, pointing out that her career was marked by countless acts of humility and compassion.

    “We continue to draw from your inspiration; we continue to draw from your wealth of experience that you have shown in the course of your career.

    “Your career has been a remarkable one, marked with countless acts of humility, compassion and propriety.

    “You have faced a lot of challenges in the domain of policing in the entire nation,” the I-G said.

    Egbetekun further acknowledged Longe’s unique position as the only female to have served as the Force Secretary, saying her dedication to duty and exemplary achievements in the force were noteworthy

    Ahmed Abubakar, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), who tendered his resignation, has finally opened up over his decision in resigning his position,citing personal and family issues as the primary reasons for his decision.

    Investigator news reports that Abubakar submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa on Saturday evening.

    Following the submission of his resignation, Abubakar spoke with journalists, explaining that personal matters influenced his decision to step down, though he emphasized that there was nothing particularly serious behind it.

    “There are quite a number of reasons one will do that. Some personal family issues, but nothing very serious, actually, and the friendship will continue,” he said.

    Ahmed Abubakar expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for allowing him to serve for an extended period, noting that he had occupied the position since 2018,also he thanked the President for the opportunity to continue serving for the first 15 months of the new administration.

    “It’s a routine thing, from time to time, to brief Mr. President on security issues, and today is no exception. After the briefing, I tendered my resignation and Mr. President graciously approved and accepted the resignation,” Abubakar stated.

    He further reflected on his tenure, highlighting the unique opportunity he had to serve two presidents consecutively.

    “I thanked him for giving me the opportunity to serve Nigeria under his transformational leadership for an extended period of 15 months, which is very rare; to have the opportunity to serve two Presidents at a stretch. So I thanked him very well, and I promised to remain professionally dedicated to our country,” he added.

    When asked about President Tinubu’s reaction to his resignation, Abubakar chose not to disclose specific details, suggesting that such information would be more appropriately shared by the President or the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who accompanied him to the Villa.

    Reflecting on his time as the head of the NIA, Abubakar expressed pride in his contributions, particularly in mentoring younger officers.

    “I think this, for me, is everything, and I have had the opportunity to mentor officers and staff for all the period I have been DG.     Abubakar was initially appointed as the Director General of the NIA in 2018 by former President Muhammadu Buhari. His tenure was extended in December 2021, allowing him to continue in the role until his recent resignation.

    Before his appointment as DG, he served as the Senior Special Assistant to the former President on International Affairs/International Relations.

    The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has reiterated it plans to clampdown on vehicles without number plates in the area.

    In a Press release signed by the FCT Police Command image maker, Josephine Adeh stated that the move is part of efforts to curb crime in the area.

    She said,“The FCT Police Command has observed with serious concern the manner in which motorists drive around the territory with single or no number plates and car dealers beyond the stipulated time, which is 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Section 25 (5) of the Federal Capital Territory Road Transport Regulation Act, 2005,” the statement read.

    “It is no news that several recorded cases of armed robbery, popularly known as ‘one chance,’ are mostly associated with vehicles with single or no number plates. This unlawful act has pricked the attention of the populace, who have now begun to question the effectiveness of the police in addressing the menace.

    “Consequent to the above, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, has given a marching order that vehicles plying the roads with a single or no number plate should be impounded, with the driver arrested and prosecuted. Also, he warns car dealers against parking their vehicles in an unauthorised parking lot and driving beyond the stipulated time, which is six o’clock p.m., as defaulters will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”she submitted

    The Deputy Inspector General of Police, South-South geopolitical zone, DIG Daniel Sokari Pedro has said that to fight crime and criminality, community partnership is key, noting that partnership with the community is key in Policing because, in recent times, Policing has become everybody’s business.

    He stated this when he paid a working visit to the Delta State Police Command on Wednesday 22nd of May,2024 where he met with the officers in a bid to boosting the morale of the officers and enhancing Police community relations.
    and also assuring residents in the State of the Force commitment to ensuring a safer Delta state.

    The DIG who is the most senior Police officer in the South-South region (supervising DIG South-South) and also the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Department of Information and Communication Technology of the Nigeria Police Force,who was accompanied by the AIG Zone 5, AIG Arungwa Nwazue Udo assured the residents in the state of the force commitment to ensuring a safer Delta State.

    DIG Sokari, before the commencement of his tour, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F. Oborevwori at the Government House, Asaba.

    The DIG in his remark noted that the State Government has been of immense help to the Police force in the State, while soliciting for more support from the State Government and the good people of Delta State.

    The Governor,Rt.Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, in his response appreciated the leadership of the Police force particularly the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD for finding some officers in the state deserving of an award.

    He noted that the award is a sign that the Police in the state are working and ensuring that the state is safe and secured, while promising to buy more vehicles for the Police that will be commissioned by the Inspector General of Police.

    Thereafter, the DIG proceeded to During the interaction with the Stakeholders, the DIG noted that partnership with the community is key in policing, while calling on the officers and men of the command to desist from extortion,abuse of human rights, and most importantly policing with a human face.

    Sokari admonished them to brace up and meet up with the security challenges in the state, while being mindful of the fundamental human rights of the citizenry, while emphasizing the importance of knowing when to use their firearms in accordance with the extant rules of the force as stipulated in Force Order 237 and Force Order 88.

    The DIG commended the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi for his effort in fighting crime, noting that the achievements within the very short time has worked in the State are laudable.
