    The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Jakande, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, security, and community development at a bursary and community support disbursement event.

    The event, held at the Council Hall on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, saw the distribution of N50,000 bursary support to 250 tertiary students and financial support to security operatives and teachers(both pensionable and non pensionable)within the LCDA.

    In his speech, Hon.Jakande emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for societal transformation and announced support for inter-house sports across 27 primary schools in the LCDA.

    “Today’s event is not merely a ceremony—it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to education, security, and community development, which remain the cornerstone of our administration.”

    “You will all agree with me that education is the foundation upon which every great society is built. It is the most powerful tool for transformation, and it is our duty to ensure that no student is left behind.”he said

    He also acknowledged the contributions of teachers and security operatives, stating that their dedication deserved tangible support.

    “We also recognize the invaluable contributions of our teachers—both pensionable and non-pensionable—who continue to shape the minds of tomorrow. Your dedication and sacrifice deserve more than words of appreciation”

    “Equally, we acknowledge the unwavering commitment of our security operatives—police officers, FRSC, immigration officers, and others—who work tirelessly to maintain peace and order. Your service ensures that our community remains safe and conducive for growth”Jakande stated.

    Jakande went further to call on collective participation from residents, community leaders, and stakeholders so as to build a progressive and inclusive community, stating that the HEWA Agenda, focusing on people, progress, and prosperity, guides the administration’s holistic approach to governance.

    “As we conclude this year and look forward to 2026, let us renew our collective resolve to work for the common good. Let us continue to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and service. Together, we can make Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye a model of excellence in Lagos State.”he concluded

    Earlier, the HOD Education Odi Olowo Ojuwoye who was represented by Mrs Oyegunle thanked the Executive Chairman for recognizing the students and teachers,describing the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of the area.

    She called on the tertiary students to make good use of the money in supporting their education.

    In their goodwill message,a Permanent member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board( SUBEB) Hon.Owolabi Falana, applauded the chairman for sustaining the bursary scheme and other educational initiatives, urging him to continue the good work till the end of his tenure.

    “I have been here four times within the six months of this administration and I will tell you that consistency in educational support is key to development, and this administration has shown commendable commitment,”he said

    He also praised the chairman for recognizing the efforts of the teachers and security operatives in the local government, noting that their dedication and commitment to service is recognized.

    ” Recognizing our security operatives is a testament of the tranquility, peace and unity we are witnessing in Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA”

    Falana urged beneficiaries to make good use of the support, reminding them that greater responsibility comes with such opportunities.

    Dr. Azeezat Alafia,the Desk Officer of NELFUND delivered a lecture to students on how to access the Federal Government Student Loan Scheme.

    She lamented on the low participants of eligible students from the South West compared to other regions of the country, while urging the students to make good use of the opportunity as it will help them in completing their education with ease.

    Speaking with newsmen after the event,Hon Jakande stated that the essence of the event was in a continuation of what they started in the last administration to give to 250 tertiary students in Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA.

    According to him,it is going to be an annual event so as to continually support the indigent children and their parents in the area.

    He opined that the support giving to the security agencies was a demonstration of his support to all the security agencies who have consistently guide and protect the lives and property of the citizens over the years.

    Comrade Adeosun Oluwayemisi, President NAOTS who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the Executive Chairman for the support, noting that the bursary support was timely as most students are resuming next week and it will help them to get the necessary items they required.

    She appealed to the students to make good use of the opportunity provided by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by keying into assessing the loan provided by government through the NELFUND initiative.

    The Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Leke Abejide, has received the Asiwaju of Yagbaland title from traditional rulers 

    In a statement released on Tuesday 30, December 2025,Abejide thanked the people and traditional institutions for the honour and presentation of the certificate on December 29, 2025,he  pledge increased respect and support for their welfare.

    He noted that the title, being the first of its kind across Yagba land, is a privilege he doesn’t take for granted, pledging increased respect for the traditional stools and renewed commitment to the welfare of all traditional rulers within the constituency.

    According to him, his promises to the people will be demonstrated through visible actions and results in the near future.

    The federal lawmaker also expressed gratitude to God for the successful security meeting held alongside the title presentation, commending the leadership and participation of traditional rulers across Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro Local Government Areas.

    He acknowledged the roles of the Chairmen of the traditional councils, Local Government Chairmen, Members of the State Executive Council from Yagba and Members of the Kogi State House of Assembly from the affected areas, noting that their presence underscored a collective resolve to confront insecurity.

    Abejide assured residents that concrete measures have been put in place to flush out bandits and kidnappers from Yagba land, expressing confidence that criminal elements will be decisively dealt with within a short period.

    He warned that insurgents fleeing military pressure from other regions would meet firm resistance locally, citing the deployment of a special security outfit to counter any threats.

    The lawmaker called on well-meaning sons and daughters of Yagba to support the ongoing security efforts with resources and logistics, stressing that the fight against insecurity requires collective action.

    He also issued a stern warning to individuals acting as informants or collaborators for bandits, declaring that anyone found aiding criminal elements would face severe consequences. He reaffirmed that both the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Kogi State Government led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, are fully committed to dealing decisively with terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

    A Senior Traffic Officer with the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA),attached to Zone 20 (PWD Lagos)Olatunfe Oluwole John has been crowned “LASTMA Man of the Year 2025” for his heroic actions during a road traffic incident.

    Speaking during the ceremony, the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, disclosed that the honour was conferred following the officer’s extraordinary exhibition of empathy, professionalism and lifesaving intervention while carrying out his statutory responsibilities along the BRT corridor by PWD on the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway.

    According to him,Officer Olatunfe’s lifesaving intervention during a road traffic incident involving a commercial scooter rider and a female pedestrian where he administered first aid, secured transportation to the hospital, and prayed for the victim’s recovery earned him the prestigious award.

    His unwavering dedication to duty, humane disposition and prompt, effective service delivery have not gone unnoticed.

    His selfless intervention elicited widespread public commendation and attracted resounding accolades across various social media platforms,” Mr. Bakare-Oki stated.

    Recounting the incident, it was recalled that upon witnessing the accident, Officer Olatunfe reacted with remarkable alacrity, administering immediate first aid to the distressed victim in a bid to stabilise her condition.

    He further exemplified exceptional initiative by securing a tricycle to convey both the injured woman and the scooter rider to Mayfair Hospital, Agege, where he remained resolutely by her side.

    In a rare and deeply moving demonstration of compassion that transcended the call of official duty, the officer reportedly prayed fervently for the victim’s recovery while ensuring she received urgent medical attention.

    Unaware that his altruistic actions were being documented, an onlooker recorded the episode and shared the footage on social media, where it gained considerable traction and ultimately drew the attention of the LASTMA General Manager.

    Further underscoring his integrity and profound sense of responsibility, Officer Olatunfe was said to have utilised the victim’s mobile phone to contact her family members, ensuring that her father and siblings were promptly notified and present at the hospital before he responsibly returned to his duty post.

    He equally ensured accountability by compelling the scooter rider to assume full responsibility for the incident, including the settlement of all medical expenses incurred during the victim’s treatment.

    In acknowledgement of this extraordinary conduct, the Management of LASTMA not only issued a formal letter of commendation but also promoted Officer Olatunfe from his former role as a Choke Point Officer to the position of 2nd Bravo, Zone 20, in addition to the presentation of a cash reward.

    Mr. Bakare-Oki emphasised that the recognition and promotion were deliberately instituted to reinforce the Authority’s core values and to motivate other officers to emulate such exemplary conduct.

    “This honour is designed to send an unequivocal message across the Agency that excellence, integrity, compassion and outstanding service delivery will always be recognised and rewarded. Officer Olatunfe epitomises the very essence of LASTMA’s mandate to safeguard lives and ensure orderly road usage,” he concluded.

    The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a zero-tolerance warning to motorists against indiscriminate parking and obstruction of access routes around places of worship and social convergence points during cross-over night celebrations.

    The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr.Olalekan Bakare-Oki, issued a firm,unambiguous and statewide warning to members of the public particularly motorists against indiscriminate parking and the unlawful obstruction of access routes around places of worship, markets, nightclubs, event centres and other major social convergence points.

    He stated that LASTMA will rigorously enforce traffic regulations to ensure seamless vehicular mobility and public safety. Officers will be positioned at identified flashpoints to prevent congestion and unlawful obstructions.

    The General Manager noted that cross-over night is characteristically marked by an exponential increase in vehicular and pedestrian movements, further exacerbated by loosely coordinated social activities such as carnivals, street jams, roadside festivities and spontaneous celebrations.

    While acknowledging the cultural, religious and communal importance of these activities, LASTMA strongly condemns the abuse of public road infrastructure through its conversion into improvised parking spaces or informal event venues, describing such acts as egregious violations of traffic regulations with far-reaching implications for public safety, emergency response and urban mobility.

    Bakare-Oki therefore admonished motorists to refrain from abandoning vehicles on carriageways, road shoulders, medians, pedestrian walkways and critical access corridors leading to worship centres and social hubs.

    He equally cautioned organisers and participants of carnivals, street parties and other festive activities against blocking highways, inner roads or access routes without lawful authorisation and prior coordination with relevant government authorities.

    Addressing the anticipated traffic challenges, the General Manager disclosed that LASTMA has activated a reinforced traffic management, monitoring and enforcement framework for cross-over night.

    According to him, a corps of trained officers reinforced by rapid response units and advance surveillance teams operating under the ‘LASTMA 24-Hour Night Gangs’ a dedicated initiative inaugurated recently will continue to be tactically positioned to identified flashpoints statewide to ensure seamless vehicular mobility, rigorously enforce parking regulations and swiftly neutralise any unlawful obstructions to traffic flow.

    He emphasised that offenders will be sanctioned in strict compliance with extant traffic laws, without exception.

    Bakare-Oki further appealed to religious institutions, market leaderships, club operators and event organisers to exhibit heightened civic consciousness by making adequate parking provisions, deploying internal traffic control mechanisms and engaging proactively with traffic authorities to prevent congestion spillover onto public roads.

    The Agency also urged residents and visitors alike to cooperate fully with traffic officials, comply with all traffic directives and exercise patience, restraint and responsibility as Lagos ushers in the new year.

    In his words, “Collective compliance remains indispensable to the realisation of a peaceful, orderly and seamlessly managed cross-over night across Lagos State.”

    LASTMA reiterates its unwavering commitment to its statutory mandate of safeguarding lives, maintaining public order on the roads and ensuring efficient traffic movement across the metropolis.

    Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has hailed the Leke Abejide Foundation’s ₦710 million direct community development grant to 71 Yagbaland communities as “historic and transformational” 

    Investigator news reports that each community received ₦10 million for locally-driven projects, demonstrating Abejide’s commitment to grassroots development.

    He praised Abejide’s performance, saying “results have silenced criticism”.Let me seize this opportunity to commend our representative for all he has been doing to bring development to Yagbaland. Politics shouldn’t be about criticism alone. Performance has cancelled criticism. Even his ardent critics have retreated because you cannot fault development and progress”

    “The grants will go a long way in helping communities actualise their development plans. When the big masquerade appears, the game changes. This initiative will spark unprecedented development across Yagbaland,” Fanwo said.

    “Giving ₦10 million each to 71 communities at once is something that has never happened in Yagbaland. I urge every beneficiary community to justify this trust by ensuring that the funds are judiciously and transparently utilised,” he added.

    The Commissioner also praised Abejide for matching words with decisive action on security matters in Yagbaland. “A few months ago, he promised massive interventions to secure his people.

    Just a few days ago, he delivered by rolling out critical security logistics, including patrol vehicles, motorcycles, and other equipment to support security operations.

    “He went further by engaging additional hunters and strengthening intelligence gathering through the deployment of modern technological tools. This is decisive leadership, and Yagba is grateful,” the Commissioner stated.

    According to him, Abejide’s approach to representation reflects a holistic understanding of governance.

    “This is how to represent a people. He’s thinking about development. He’s thinking about security. He’s thinking about progress.

    He has worked closely with the Kogi State Government, offering the necessary cooperation to secure not only Yagbaland but the entire state. When the big masquerade appeared, the game changed.

    “Though he’s not yet in our party, he didn’t politicise the welfare and security of his people. I’ll continue to support him beyond 2027. We do not replace performance. We’ll do everything within our power to ensure that this man emerges as our party’s candidate in 2027,” he said.

    The Kogi State Government has confirmed an attack by suspected bandits on Ayetoro Kiri community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, resulting in the death of four assailants and the abduction of 13 persons.

    According to the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo,who was a guest on News Central Television on Monday, said local hunters in the community courageously resisted the attack, engaging the bandits in a fierce gun battle.

    Fanwo explained that the sustained onslaught by bandits in neighbouring Niger and Kwara States has pushed criminal elements towards Kogi State, noting that the state government had already marshalled a coordinated security architecture to counter such threats, although the affected area still requires additional reinforcement.

    He disclosed that 13 persons were kidnapped during the incident but assured that hunters and other security operatives are currently on the trail of the fleeing bandits within the forest, with ongoing efforts aimed at rescuing the abducted victims.

    “We are quite hopeful that the kidnapped persons will be rescued,” Fanwo said.

    Investigator news reports that troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and personnel of the Kogi State Police Command have been deployed to the community, with the Department of State Services (DSS) providing intelligence support.

    Fanwo also appealed for air support from the Nigerian Air Force to complement ongoing ground operations and strengthen the security response.

    “The Governor of the State, His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo is engaging the service chiefs with the aim of ensuring an air raid of the forest by the Air Force to support the ground duel of the Army, Police and local hunters”, he said.

    Commending the bravery and patriotism of the local hunters for rising to the occasion, the Commissioner reassured residents that the government remains firmly in control of the situation.

    He stressed that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains resolutely committed to the protection of lives and property across Kogi State, assuring Kogites that the government is steadily winning the battle against criminal elements.

    “Their movement has been restricted with our security network. What they are doing now is to attack soft targets like churches.

    “We have come up with measures to tighten the security around the state. We are grateful for the cooperation of security agencies and our local hunters. We are winning the battle already”, he assured.

    The Lagos State House of Assembly is set to host the flag-off ceremony of the Campaign Against Killing of Security Personnel, marking the official commencement of the 2025 National Security Summit.

    The event will take place on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium, Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa.

    The summit, organized by Societal Concerns Organization, aims to promote respect for security institutions, strengthen civil harmony, and build a safer future for Nigeria’s security architecture.

    Investigator news reports that the event will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and community-focused activities, with the goal of fostering stronger collaboration between citizens and security agencies.

    Nigerians have called for the immediate sack of Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, for travelling to the Dubai Airshow 2025 without visiting states experiencing security attacks.

    Investigator news reports that Badaru’s trip to Dubai has sparked widespread criticism, with many questioning his priorities amid Nigeria’s insecurity challenges.

    The minister’s absence has raised concerns about his ability to lead the Defence Ministry effectively.

    Badaru is said to participate in the 5 days Dubai Airshow 2025, scheduled to end on 21st November 2025 at its purpose-built venue in Dubai World Central.

    This year’s edition, themed “The Future is Here,” will bring together thousands of visitors, global manufacturers, industry experts, and defence leaders to exchange insights, explore emerging trends, and experience cutting-edge advancements in aviation, aerospace, and defence technologies.

    The question many Nigerians are asking is why the Defence Minister Badaru having noted the high level of insecurity challenges that has befallen Nigeria lately will have the courage to travel out of Nigeria for a show in Dubai.

    Badaru’s show of less concern to insecurity in Nigeria underscores his less value for human lives and nonchalance to strengthening security in Nigeria.

    Information has it that Nigerians who saw him sneaking out of the country through the Lagos international Airport wondered why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is still keeping Badaru as defence minister knowing fully well that he has not shown any impact in the ministry of Defence and has no capacity to administer the ministry of Defence.

    The Minister is expected to return to the country upon the conclusion of the Airshow.
