    Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their resounding 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in the FIFA World Cup qualifier.

    In a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary Mr Biodun Ayodele,Hon Kareem stated that the victory of the Super Eagles was as a result of hardwork and dedication.

    “I am thrilled to congratulate the Super Eagles on their impressive win over Benin Republic,” Hon. Kareem said.

    “This victory is a testament to the team’s hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence. I believe that with this momentum, the team will go on to achieve great things in the playoffs and beyond.”

    The Chairman went further to express his administration’s commitment to promoting sporting development in Oto-Awori LCDA.

    “As we celebrate this victory, we are reminded of the importance of nurturing and supporting talented individuals in our community. We plan to encourage and uplift sporting development in our council area, providing opportunities for our youth to excel in sports and make us proud.”

    Hon. Kareem cited the examples of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Tobi Amusan, who have made Nigeria proud on the global stage. “We are proud to see our own making waves in the world of sports. We will do everything possible to support and encourage our athletes to reach new heights.”

    The Chairman concluded by wishing the Super Eagles continued success and victory in the playoffs. “We are behind you all the way! May Allah bless our team with continued success and guide them to victory.”

    Hon. Kareem’s message was met with jubilation in Oto-Awori LCDA, as sports enthusiasts and community leaders alike hailed the Super Eagles’ victory and looked forward to a brighter future for sports development in the council area.

    In the same vein, the Chairman Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos State, Oto-Awori LCDA Chapter, Chief Emmanuel Ubah (Otunba Ojoto)has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Eagles following their emphatic win over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

    In a congratulatory message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Comrade Emmanuel Clement noted that the victory, powered by a sensational hat-trick from striker Victor Osimhen and a late goal from midfielder Frank Onyeka, secured Nigeria a place in the CAF playoffs set to take place in Morocco from November 13 to 16, 2025.

    Chief Ubah commended the players for their passion, resilience, and commitment on the pitch, describing the performance in Uyo as a proud moment for Nigerian football.

    “While the mission is not yet complete, I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating this vital win and wishing the team every success in the upcoming playoff,” Chief Ubah stated.

    Ubah who is an aspirant for President Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos State 2026 added that the widespread optimism among Nigerians reflects a deep national belief that the Super Eagles deserve a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

    He appealed to Nigerians to continually pray the Super Eagles as they face the next task ahead of them, noting that his vision and plans for sports development in the council area is to engage the youths,so that their attention would be distracted away from drugs and other social vices.

    The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT)has joyfully celebrates with the historic triumph of the Nigerian Super Falcons at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals stating that their hard-earned victory stands as a shining example of excellence, teamwork, and national pride.

    In a congratulatory message signed by the National Public Relations Secretary,Alhaji Shamsideen Owolabi Oseni,the President of NASFAT, Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf, lauded the soccer queens for their unrelenting spirit and patriotism.

    He described the team as “beacons of courage and strength,” noting that their success uplifts the soul of the nation and inspires millions across Africa.

    Lending his voice,Chief Missioner, Imam Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike, offered fervent prayers for the entire team, especially Rasheedat Ajibade.

    President Bola Tinubu has awarded the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honour to all 24 players and 11 technical crew members of the victorious Super Falcons,along with a cash reward of $100,000(N150m)each and a three-bedroom apartment for each player, while the technical crew members received $50,000 (N75m).

    The announcement was made during a special reception held in honour of the team at the State House on Monday by the president.

    The team led by the team captain Rasheedat Ajibade and head coach Justin Madugu, the champions arrived at the Presidential Villa at 4:35 p.m. to a rousing welcome from President Tinubu, First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the president’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila and other dignitaries.

    It will be recalled that the Super falcons made a come back after 2:0 in the first half to win the title for the 10th time,President Tinubu praised the captain and tournament MVP Rasheedat Ajibade and members of the team for their display at the tournament

    The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has warmly congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons on their spectacular victory in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Cup on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

    In his goodwill message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary,Mr Christian Aburime,Governor Soludo lauded the Super Falcons for displaying incredible resilience and an indomitable spirit, coming from behind in the second half of the match to defeat a formidable Moroccan side by 3:2 score in a thrilling final, thus bringing immense pride and joy to our nation.

    The Governor observed that the Super Falcons’ triumph has been a result of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of every player and the entire coaching staff.

    “The unforgettable comeback win, their 10th WAFON title, also once again confirms the immense potential within Nigerian sports and serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the country, particularly our young women.”

    “As Anambra State has always been a strong advocate for sports development and gender equality, Governor Soludo is particularly delighted to see the Super Falcons continue to break barriers and achieve greatness on the international stage, a reminder of what can be achieved with focus and perseverance.”

    The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Sports Development,Mr Adebanji Atewogboye has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of 21 Kano State athletes in a road accident in the Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano.

    In a condolences message signed by the Senior Special Assistant, Atewogboye described the incident as a tragic loss for the student and sports communities.

    “With profound sadness, I, Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Sports, Lagos State, mourn the tragic loss of the Kano State contingent in a devastating road accident while returning from the National Sports Festival 2025.”

    “This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow of grief over the entire nation, particularly the youth and sports communities, as we mourn the untimely demise of these talented individuals who dedicated their lives to representing their state and uplifting the spirit of unity through sports.”

    “My deepest condolences go to the families, loved ones, and the Kano State Sports community affected by this irreparable loss. The pain of losing talented young athletes is unbearable. We remember their passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for sports, which inspired many.”

    “May Almighty God grant the departed souls eternal rest and comfort their loved ones. May the injured recover speedily. Rest in peace, dear athletes. Your memory will never be forgotten.”he submitted .

    He extended sympathies to the Kano State Government, the Sports Council, families of the deceased, and the people of Kano, adding, “The loss of these bright stars is not only a loss to their immediate families but to the nation as a whole.”

    It will be recalled that the athletes were returning from the National Sports Festival held in Ogun State when the crash occurred at Gadar Yankifi on Saturday.

    According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kano, 21 members of the state contingent died, while 11 others sustained injuries of varying severity.

    In a press release signed and made available to Investigator news by the Vice President,Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) South South West Region,Hon Apata Samson Nunayon, stated that the association recognize the immense potential of sports tourism in driving economic growth,cultural exchange, and national pride.

    According to the Vice President,”Sports events like this festival have the power to attract visitors, create jobs, and stimulate local economies, making them a valuable addition to our tourism product offerings.”

    He went further to state that the South West region is known for its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural beauty, and world-class infrastructure, which is perfectly positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for sports tourism.

    Ahead of the forthcoming 22nd National Sports Festival to be hosted by Ogun State on the 16th of May 2025,the Lagos State Governor,Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu has received the torch of Unity at the Lagos House, Ikeja on Monday 12,May 2025.

    The Governor was ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government,The Chief of Staff,Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, together with the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende and the Senior Special assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Sports,Mr Adebanji Atewogboye.

    Also in attendance was the Chief of Staff,Tayo Ayinde, the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Director General.

    According to the Governor, this year’s festival promises to be a ‘celebration of talent, resilience, and unity adding that Lagos State is honored to receive the torch.’

    He went further to say that beyond competition, it serves as a vital platform for talent discovery and youth empowerment.

    “This biennial multi-sport event, coordinated by the National Sports Commission, is Nigeria’s version of the Olympics, showcasing our best athletes and preparing them for international excellence and since the torch was flagged off by President Bola Tinubu, in Abuja on March 25, it has become a cherished symbol of peace and togetherness.”he submitted.

    The Team leader, Ikana Mbora, said the Torch of Unity was aimed at preaching unity among the youth and unifying everyone in line with the mandate given by the President to the Commission.

    Speaking with newsmen,the Senior Special assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Sports Mr Adebanji Atewogboye noted that the athletes are being well prepared, while commending the Lagos State Governor for supporting the athletes and ensuring that they bring glory and laurels to the state.

    The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has received the Unity Torch for the 2025 National Sports Festival taking place in Ogun State.

    The Governor on Monday 28,April 2025 described the event as a platform to promote unity among the participating States in the country.

    Receiving the Unity Torch on behalf of the Imo State Government at the Government House, Owerri before Sports enthusiasts, staff of the National Sports Commission and Imo State Sports Council who gathered to witness the event, the Governor urged the Imo contingents to go and make the State proud by winning the coveted medals.

    He reminded them that Imo State is known for excellent performance in sports, and encouraged the contingents to go out there with determination and come back with many gold medals to make the State proud.

    “Go and win, and win, and win, to the glory of God,” he challenged them.

    Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon Obinna Onyeocha handed over the Unity Torch to the Team Leader from the National Sports Commission, Ms Mbora Ikana, who in turn handed it over to the Governor amid singing, drumming and dancing.

    Investigator news reports that present at the event were the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, the Chief of Staff, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, and some members of the State Expanded Executive Council.

    President Bola Tinubu have joined the long list of people, especially in the football family, in paying tribute to late Super Eagles hero Christian Chukwu, who died on Saturday.

    “Chairman,” as the late Nigerian football icon was called, died at 74, throwing family, friends, and the entire nation into mourning.

    In his tribute to the former centre defender, Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman Bayo Onanuga, hailed the patriotism of Chukwu.

    “Christian Chukwu was more than a footballer and coach. He was a symbol of excellence and patriotism.

    “He brought joy to millions, mentored a generation of footballers, and stood as a pillar of Nigerian brand and sportsmanship on and off the pitch”

    “His legacies will continue to live on in the trophies he won, the lives he touched, and the exciting moments he provided to football fans and spectators on the field and in the technical area.”

    “We are forever grateful for his contributions to the sport we all love, and we will always remember him with great respect and admiration.”he said.

    President Tinubu went further to eugolised the former Rangers defender as a trailblazer whose career was defined by passion, discipline, and commitment to national pride.

    He consoled the family of the bereaved, praying for the repose of his soul and comfort for those Chukwu left behind.
