    Ama-Asaa Uvuru Community Holds Reception For lmo Lawmaker

    People from all walks of life recently joined the people of Ama-Asaa Uvuru Autonomous community to receive one of their illustrious and worthy sons, Hon Princewill Ugochukwu Amuchie, the Member Representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency in the Imo State House Of Assembly.

    The event which was held on Saturday,18th May 2024 at Umudinka civil hall attracted various lawmakers like Rt Hon Clinton Amadi,Deputy Minority Leader and Member representing Owerri Municipal State Constituency, Rt Hon. Johnson Duru ,Member representing Ideato-South State Constituency, Hon Engr Sir Innocent Ikechukwu Ikpamezie Member representing Mbaitoli State Constituency,Hon Kelechi Ofurum,Member representing Owerri -North State Constituency,Hon Barrister Emeka Ozurumba,Member representing Isu State Constituency,Sir Mike Otu,Ezinwa Sir Maxwell Nnabuihe PDP Aboh Mbaise LGA Chairman,Barrister Kelechi Ahamba Political Stakeholder In Abh Mbaise,Hon Dennis Adikwuru Political Stakeholder in Aboh Mbaise,Members Of Eze’s Cabinet,Members Of Amuchie Ambassadors,Members Of GoodLife Foundation,Comrade Chibuike Onyeukwu Chief Press Secretary to a former Governor,Comrade FCC Jones Onwuasoanya,traditional rulers, professionals, captains of industry, political leaders, the clergy, youths, dance groups, friends, associates,among others.

    The event which afforded the people of Ama-Asaa Uvuru the opportunity to express themselves, while thanking God for the opportunity given to he people of the community to represent Aboh Mbaise State Constituency in the State House of Assembly for the first time since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

    The Acting President General of Ama-Asaa Uvuru, Chief Tony Odinga Onwumere, in his welcome address, stated that the Grand reception was organized to thank and appreciate almighty God for the victory of their son, Hon Princewill Ugochukwu Amuchie, in the last election into the Imo State House Of Assembly, stating that it was the first time somebody from the community would be representing Aboh Mbaise LGA in the legislative Arm of Government.

    Chief Onwumere went further to express gratitude to the lawmaker and to his extended family towards the progress and development in Ama Asaa Uvuru Community, while urging the lawmaker to continue to stand on the already established standard set by the Amuchie family in Ama-Asaa Uvuru Community so as to ensure more youths are engaged in meaningful and worthy ventures, and at the same time ensure indigent persons in the community are empowered,attracting government benefits to the community.

    While welcoming dignitaries to the event, the traditional ruler of the Community, Eze-Udo of Ama-Asaa, Hrh Eze M. O. Njoku appreciated God, for making it possible, during his reign, to have his subject represent Aboh Mbaise State Constituency for the first time in the Assembly. He called on all Ama-Asaa indigenes to support Hon Ugochukwu Amuchie to succeed. In his,noting that the success of the lawmaker should be everyone’s top priority.

    Lending his voice, a two time lawmaker who represented Aboh Mbaise State Constituency, Rt Hon Chief Mike Iheanetu (Akwaa-Akwuru Mbaise) commended Hon Ugochukwu Amuchie for his steadfastness and doggedness in politics and never giving-up spirit, having contested for the position severally, but succeeding at the last attempt.

    Akwaa-Akwuru Mbaise also commended the State Government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma for his Giant Strides on road infrastructure, specifically on the ongoing Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo road,he however appealed to the government to extend same to the Ahiara-Uvuru-Okpala road.

    “the link road through which we all came to this occasion has broken down and needs to be rehabilitated. The road connects seven local government areas in the State. Our Governor is doing well, however, we plead that this very road is rescued for us”he stated.

    Filled with joy, the Member Representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency, Hon Princewill Ugochukwu Amuchie, thanked everyone who worked assiduously for his victory, stating that he had consistently contested for the seat for 12 years running, before the Lord showed him mercy.

    In his words,”l won because all of you, across party lines voted for me. My emergence is symbolic because this is the very first time Ama-Asaa Uvuru Community is occupying the seat in the Imo State House Of Assembly. You have honoured me, and I pledge to make you proud. I will not disappoint Ama-Asaa. I will not disappoint Aboh Mbaise and l am assuring you that in the scheme of things, you will not lag behind.”

    ” I am grateful to you and to Almighty God. For standing by me, I pledge never to derail the lofty programmes I have for Aboh Mbaise. So help me God”.he stated

    Responding to the request of his people,on the dilapidated Ahiara-Uvuru-Okpala road,the minority leader explained that a motion for the reconstruction of the road had been moved, passed and sent to His Excellency the Governor for implementation.

    He further commended Governor Uzodimma for facilitating the installation of Night landing facilities at the Imo Airport, pointing out that despite being in opposition, he would always commend the ruling government whenever people oriented programmes are executed for the benefit of Ndimo.

    Hon Amuchie, who is the House Committee Chairman on Power and Water Resources assured that soon Aboh Mbaise and the rest of Imo State will start to enjoy 100% uninterrupted power supply, through a mechanism being put in place by government.

    The Speaker lmo State House Of Assembly,Rt Hon. Chike Olemgbe who was represented by the Member Representing Ezinihitte Mbaise State Constituency,Hon Dr Henry Agbasonu commended the people of Ama-Asaa Community for organizing a Civic Reception for their son whom they are well pleased

    He said, “You have demonstrated love. You have shown you trust your son. In the House Of Assembly, we don’t do political party. We are one family, and we are representing the entire State. There is nothing like PDP, Labour Party, APGA Or APC in the House Of Assembly. We support one another. ”

    “We are collaborating with the Executive to consolidate development in the State. We will continue to sponsor people-oriented Bills and Motions. The Motion for the rehabilitation of the road which Akwaa-Akwuru Mbaise (Chief Mike Iheanetu) complained about, was moved in December 2023, and presently on the Governor’s table. However, His Excellency Our Governor has specifically assured that the road in question is in the budget and would be reconstructed”.he submitted.

    In a vote of thanks,Ezinwa Sir Stanley Amuchie, thanked the Community for the Civic Reception for his younger brother, Hon Ugochukwu Amuchie, assuring that he has come to serve, not just Ama-Asaa Community and Aboh Mbaise in particular, but the entire State.

    The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a “SWORD” to Hon Princewill Ugochukwu Amuchie by the Elders of Ama-Asaa Community to cut down any obstacle that will obstruct his growth in politics,as the Civic Reception crowned with prayers said by Venerable Otuonye to the lawmaker who was enjoined not to be afraid, but to remain resolute in his total trust and faith in God, for his political upliftment.

    The Member Representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency in the lmo State House of Assembly,Hon Princewill Ugochukwu Amuchie has reiterated his commitment in ensuring that his constituents experience the dividends of good representation,has moved to make Aboh Mbaise local government the food basket of lmo state.

    Addressing over 250 indigent participants, the vibrant lawmaker,stated that he was driven by his passion and desire to turn the industrious and enterprising nature of Aboh Mbaise into a humongous and profitable agri-business venture.

    He went further to state that as a result of the unprecedented high cost of food items in the market and obvious lack of interest in agriculture and farming by a cross section of lmo citizen,he has procured a very large quantities of seedlings of various agric- farm produce for commercial farming in Aboh Mbaise,to geometrically boost food production and guarantee food security for Aboh Mbaise people, before exporting to other areas in the state and beyond.

    Hon Amuchie who is the Minority leader and House committee chairman on Power and Water Resources noted that the initiative which is in conjunction with Marta Farm Project would witnessed over 250 indigenes drawn from every ward being taught on various methods and field of agriculture such as Bee Keeping,Fish Farming, Maize Production, Cucumber Production, Poultry Farming, Cassava Production, Pepper/Tomato Production, Ginger and Garlic Production, participating in the workshop.

    In his words”I have come for us to put heads together so as to solve the problem of high cost of food items in the society. I first beckoned on MARTA FARMS to partner with me, so as to make this vision of mass producing food a success. Let me also commend you, my constituents, for answering this clarion call to attend this workshop in agriculture. I assure you, every family in Aboh Mbaise will benefit from this initiative, when the benefits will start trickling down during harvest season. This is the first phase, and it will be a continuous exercise, until we become food sufficient, which ultimately brings down the prices of food in the market”.he submitted.

    Lending his voice, the Member Representing Orsu State Constituency and House Committee Chairman On Agriculture, Hon Engr Uche Francis Agabige, commended Hon Ugochukwu Amuchie for his wisdom and vision to revolutionize agriculture in Aboh Mbaise, pointing out that the initiative if vigorously sustained and replicated in every local government area in the state, would in no small measure assist in bringing down the high cost of food items in the market.

    The lawmaker assured that his Committee on Agriculture would work round the clock to ensure massive food production in this year’s farming season, by collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture and all related agencies of government.

    Earlier,In his speech at the workshop His Grace Most Reverend Dr Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, thanked Hon Ugochukwu Amuchie for stepping out to show the way in food production, pointing out that time has passed when citizens concentrated on cultivating for family consumption.

    The cleric called for commercial production of food, so as to bring down the high cost of food in the market.
    He further said, “I will go back to replicate what I have learned from here. Where the Bishop resides should have a farm. We all should go back to farming, because it is a profitable venture. A tree of Bitter Kola, with its fruits, is about N2,000,000. I am impressed with the high number of people participating in this workshop”.he stated.

    He also advised on the timing of planting each of the seedlings, stating that planting at the wrong time brings low harvest, while planting at the right time guarantees bountiful harvest.

    One of the participants, Mr Peter Onyenakazi, from Mbutu Ward, thanked the Honourable Member for his foresight in initiating and organizing the workshop, promising that all the participants will utilize the knowledge gained from the workshop and use it to fully go into farming, for the benefit of Aboh Mbaise.

    Reverend Father Pius Ibeawuchi, the proprietor of the farm , expressed satisfaction that the 250 participants has learned a lot and are ready to demonstrate it in the 2024 farming season.
    Highlight of the event was the distribution of the farm seedlings to all the participants.
