President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo as a visionary and competent leader, commending him for the work he has been doing in Anambra State.

The President disclosed this during his visit to the state on Thursday 8, May 2025,which marked the commissioning of several major projects executed by the Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s administration.

“I am honoured to be here. I commend my friend, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who is a visionary and competent leader for the work he has been doing in Anambra State,” the President said.

President Tinubu went further to use the occasion to speak candidly about the challenges his administration inherited, particularly unsustainable fuel subsidies, a chaotic forex regime, and dwindling public revenue.

“We met a near-insolvent public finance, decades-old monster of unsustainable multiple subsidies, and a chaotic forex regime. Like we tamed the Atlantic in Lagos, many of these monsters have been wrestled down,” he declared.

The President also acknowledged the state’s marginalisation in the national rail plan and promised corrective steps, including integrating Anambra into the national gas infrastructure network.

On the environment, the President described Anambra as “the gully erosion capital of the world” and assured of renewed federal efforts to tackle ecological degradation in the Southeast.

Earlier in his welcome address, Governor Soludo praised the president for his “courageous and systematic” economic reforms that are already setting the country on a recovery path

“We know the state of Nigeria’s economy with all its unsustainable dysfunctionalities when you assumed office. You had the courage to tame the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos, and now, you’re courageously and systematically getting the economy to work again,” Soludo said.

“There’s still a lot of work to do, we know, but there’s no doubt that in less than two years, important building blocks are already falling into place. We urge you, Mr. President, to stay the course.”

The Governor, who is leading a transformation drive in Anambra aimed at turning it into the “African Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley,” said the projects commissioned by the president were part of a long-term development blueprint.

He emphasized the importance of synergy between Awka and Abuja in tackling major issues like gully erosion, road infrastructure, and the revitalization of the Onitsha River Port.

Investigator news reports that the high-profile event was attended by key dignitaries, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Alex Otti (Abia); Deputy Speaker,  Federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin  Okezie Kalu as well as Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.

Highlight of the occasion was President Tinubu commissioning the new Government House and Governor’s Lodge, which he described as a mini city within a city; the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the 8-Lane Aroma–Government House Boulevard, and the Solution Fun City, a one-stop location for leisure and entertainment  that caters to the needs of all ages, social classes and gender. It houses a water park, family fun house, country club, and amusement park facilities. He also unveiled monuments in honour of five Anambra-born national heroes.

Investigator news gathered that the President was also honoured by traditional rulers in the state with the chieftaincy title “Dike si-mba Anambra.”

Expressing deep appreciation, he said:“Today is not only historic but one which I will forever treasure for the rest of my life.”

The visit capped a day of celebration and mutual pledges for deepening federal-state relations in pursuit of Nigeria’s economic and infrastructural renewal.

  • Beware Of lmpending Flood,Ndi Anambra!

    Beware Of lmpending Flood,Ndi Anambra!

    By Christian ABURIME

At a time, the world keeps facing the grim consequences of climate change, torrential rain, and flooding sometimes don’t give notice. But as technology advances, weather conditions are predicted more accurately, such as is done every year by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA).

So, when weather forecasts are issued, the wise prepare ahead and escape calamity. Only the careless get endangered.

The devastating floods that ravaged Anambra State last year, causing billions in damage to public and private property, were a tragic wake-up call. Tragically, many lives were also lost. As another round of rainfall and possible flooding is fast approaching, the state government is urgently warning residents in flood-prone areas to take immediate action to protect themselves, their property, and their livelihoods.

Accordingly, the Anambra State Government has advised people living in high-risk local government areas like Ogbaru, Ayamelum, Anambra East and West, Onitsha South and North, Awka North, Idemili South, Ekwusigo, and Ihiala to begin relocating their crops, poultry, fish ponds, and domestic animals to safer ground.

Indeed, Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, has also stressed that the time to act is now before the floodwaters arrive.

The latest warnings came based on forecasts from the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) and the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), predicting heavy rainfall and severe flooding in the coming months. With climate change driving more extreme weather, the risks are only growing more threatening.

Thus, residents should also be prepared to evacuate themselves, especially the elderly, women, and children, to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps set up by Governor Soludo’s administration. As evacuations get underway, local government emergency management teams are also on standby to assist those in need. No one will be left behind.

Being always responsive to citizens’ welfare and safety, the state government is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to protect Ndi Anambra. That’s why a Flood Response Committee led by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim is already coordinating with the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide further guidance to flood-prone communities in the days ahead. But residents must do their part as well.

Again, the lessons of last year’s disaster are clear. Flooding poses a grave threat, and the time to prepare is now. By heeding the government’s warnings and taking proactive steps, Anambra’s residents can keep themselves, their loved ones, their property, and their livelihoods safe from the coming deluge. Complacency is not an option, and because lives are at stake, compliance is the life saver.
