    Delta Police Raid Kidnappers Hideout,Arrest And Recover Arms, Military Uniform.

    Operatives of the CP Special Assignment team of the Delta State Police Command have raided criminal hideout of some suspected kidnappers and armed robbers who have been terrorising residents of the state.

    In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer,SP Bright Edafe stated that the significant strides in its fight against crime was carried out by intelligence led investigation by ASP Julius Robinson, who raided a hideout on 2 February 2025 in Evwokenren Layout, off Ughelli Road, Agbarho.

    SP Edafe went further to state that the operatives busted the house of the fleeing gang known as Emeka (Surname Unknown) and recovered a fabricated semi-automatic Beretta pistol with four rounds of live ammunition, four locally-made cut-to-size guns, 13 rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms hidden in a black polythene bag, stating that the suspects are in the custody while a manhunt to arrest other members of his gang is ongoing.

    “Acting on an intelligence-led investigation carried out on the arrest of some suspected kidnappers on 30/01/25 who have been terrorizing Abraka/Obiaruku/Umutu, operatives of the CP Special Assignment team  (CP-SAT)  led by ASP Julius Robinson made a significant achievement when they stormed the hideout on the 02/02/25 and busted the house of the fleeing gang leader named Emeka ‘m’ surname unknown at about 1635hrs, located at Evwokenren layout off Ughelli road Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA Delta State. During the raid, a fabricated Semi-Automatic Beretta Pistol with four (4) rounds of live ammunition, four locally made cut-to-size guns, thirteen (13) rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms concealed in a black polythene bag were recovered. The suspect is in custody and a manhunt to arrest other members of his gang is ongoing.”

    Investigator news reports that the Police image maker noted that in another development,on February 19, 2025,operatives of Safer 025 of Safer Highway Patrol, while conducting a stop and search on a commercial vehicle along the Agbor/Benin express road, arrested three suspects in possession of three locally made long guns and charms.

    The PPRO opined that upon interrogation the suspects, identified as Buhari Bala aged 28, Habibu Sale (25), Abdulwahab Musa (20), and Taisu Bala (20), were found in possession of three locally-made long guns and charms.

    The suspects said they are hunters travelling from Zaria, Kaduna State going to a bush before Benin called Igbogri community for hunting expedition.SP Edafe stated that the suspects are in custody as the investigation is ongoing.

    Investigator news gathered that in an earlier development,  on the 17th  of January 2025, acting on a tip-off, the DPO Agbarho Division CSP Pius Eredei mobilized and led operatives to the apartment of one Eriga Enyuche’ aged 40yrs, and upon search of his one-room apartment, one G-3 Rifle, one pump action gun was recovered hidden in the ceiling of the room. The investigation is ongoing.

    The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has reiterated that the command under his watch will not relent in the fight against crime and criminality, noting that Delta state will remain hot for criminals.

    Delta CP Urges Youths To Shun Crime, Criminality

    …As Command arrest robbery gangs, promise to flush out cultism and other forms of crime in the state

    The Delta State Police Command led by CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has urged youths in the state to shun all form of crime and stay away from cultism.

    He stated this when parading suspected criminals,cultist and kidnappers who have been terrorising the peace of the citizens in the state.

    According to CP Abaniwonda, series of reported cases of cultism and gun running have been taking place in Ughelli,Warri,Sàpele,Oghara and its environs, noting that the command decided to deployed its special squad led by ASP Julius Robinson to Ughelli, on 24th May,2024 where one Emmanuel John Aisewowhion a.k.a “Small Juju” aged 34years, a native of Ewohimi community Esan-South East LGA of Edo State, but resident at Uwagba Community in Okpe LGA, Delta State was trailed and arrested.

    He went further to state that one Beretta pistol was recovered from his house and investigation further revealed that he is a member of Eiye confraternity and he got the gun from one Goodluck Sakutu, a suspected gun runner already in custody and serious efforts to arrest other members of his gang are ongoing

    In the same vein, the Police Commissioner noted that the command embarked on an intelligence-driven policing,stormed Oghara town and arrested another notorious cultist identified as Philips Omomedia,aged 37 yrs from Onogo-Vor community in Ethiope West LGA Oghara Delta State.

    Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a member of Aro-Bagar confraternity and suspected to be involved in a series of cult-related killings and he was arrested with one Automatic Double Barrel gun with fifteen (15) live cartridges and Investigation are ongoing.

    He said,”On Sunday at about 1700hrs a combined patrol team of policemen of the division & federal hunters who were deployed on a crime prevention patrol while on stop and search duty along Oputu road Orhowurun community in Udu LGA, flagged down a motorcyclist carrying one passenger for a routine search. The suspect refused to stop and the team chased them, during the chase one of the suspects Christopher Semede ‘m’ age 33yrs was arrested and one locally made cut-to-size double barrel pistol was recovered from him. A concerted effort to arrest the other fleeing suspect is ongoing.”he stated

    CP Abaniwonda Olufemi commended officers and men of the command for their steadfastness in fighting crime and urged other officers to emulate the same.

    “It is our collective responsibility to flush out criminals from the state in other to guarantee the safety of residents in the State,l want to urged the youths to shun all forms of crime, because youth involvement in cult-related activities is alarming and this has negative consequences for the security of the state and for this reason,the command will not fold its hands and allow lawlessness in the state”he submitted.

    He assured residents that the command will continue to identify, arrest, and prosecute suspects arrested until Delta State is free from all forms of criminality.
