    The Year 2024 Tree-planting Exercise was today observed by the administration of Olasoju Adebayo on the premises of the council secretariat with government excos, management staff, and other stakeholders present.

    Delivering the welcome address, the council boss maintained that more attention needs to be paid to the environment to drive home the desire for a greener and safer surrounding by, not only the government but also the residents of the state for the common good of all given the rising population which statistics put at an estimated one million annual growth.

    The Council Manger,Pastor Samson Akinbami called for a shift away from ornamental plants to more medicinal and edible plants such as Garcinia Cola (bitter cola) since they, also provide shade and oxygen.

    Speaking on behalf of the community, CDC Chairman, Hon. Adesegun Olatunde promised to embark on drastic sensitisation of the community through the federating Community Development Associations (CDAs) to ensure that they get more conscious of their environment and do everything possible to protect it from degradation.

    While fielding questions from journalists, the council boss, Olasoju Adebayo said the council headquarters’ proximity to industries informed the choice of location for this year’s exercise to help combat emissions from the industries in the future apart from beautification as he set the ball rolling for serial planting by other dignitaries.

    Present at the annual event from the Lagos State Park & Gardens Agency (LASPARK), Tree-planting and Maintenance Dept. were Messrs Ajiboye Kehinde Olayosile and Jimoh Afeez who discussed the traditional process and stages involved in planting the seedlings.

    Young singles have been urged to emulate the principles of the Lord Jesus Christ by being the light of the world to avert darkness trying to take over the whole earth.

    This was stated during the Annual Young Singles/Missionette Day held at Assemblies of God Church, Ejigbo 2, Transformation Center, Lagos West District,were young singles are urged to be the shinning light so as to enable them live a right style that will make them mothers and wives to their husbands.

    Speaking on the theme,” Shinning as daughters of light”, Sister Chidinma Okereafor who took her text from the book of Matthew 5:14-17 noted that when christians rise up and shine,it overwhelm the darkness,exposes deception and illuminate the great path for others to follow.

    She went further to state that as young christians,the need to show forth their light wherever they found themselves should be their top priority.

    She said,“You cannot appreciate the beauty of light until you see darkness; there is a whole darkness that is trying to engulf the whole world but as Christians come forth and shine as light darkness will give way. I expect each and every one of us to go back to the Bible, which says let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is heaven, therefore we should follow the principles of Jesus Christ and become the light of the world.”she stated .

    The Reverend minister in charge of the Assembly,Rev Dr Timpaul reminded the young singles that their future must be bright wherever they found themselves and should always have God first in their life.

    According to him, God is not unaware of what is happening all over the world because he created the whole world and nothing happens to him by mistake, stating that to be a burning and shinning light means one needs to be fervent,agile, enthusiastic about spiritual matters, while urging them to dispel darkness and Keep shinning as daughters of light to the world.

    Rev Mrs Prisca Timpaul, Director of the women and young singles ministry in her words,she appealed to them to continue to strive harder as to show forth the light of Jesus Christ in them.

    She opined that though the world may be full of darkness but as daughters of the light, they are meant to shine as light in their place of work, businesses, school and areas where the world may see christ in them and come to repentance.

    Speaking in the same vein,the Matron of the young singles ministry, Sister Agu Ogechi pointed that most young singles ladies are into, prostitution and trafficking,drugs and all manners of evil, while enjoining the youn singles to shun evil in all its ramifications wherever they are, be it at home, in the Church or society at large.

    According to her,the young singles should also seek to grow in the Lord by praying always, remain steadfast in the love of God and depend on the mercy of God.

    Agu advised them that as future mothers and the backbone of the family and church,they should continue to shine as light in the nation, church and society at large, adding that they should not allow the current economic hardship being experienced in the country to discourage them from praying and interceding.

    Lending her voice,the young singles coordinator,Mrs Daniel Gift noted that God has made the young singles, shinning light that must shine forth even in the midst of turbulence, noting that their relationship with individuals around them would be tell them that they are carrying the light of God.

    ” Your character is what people are looking for,it is only your character that would preach to a sinful sinner to either continue with his/her lifestyle or give his life to Christ. God has given you the grace to shine forth and l believe that at the end of this program, every single ladies will shine forth in the darkness “.

    She stated that as christians mothers to be, they should rise up and contend for the faith by ensuring total sound doctrines of Jesus Christ are adhere to.

    The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Olasoju Adebayo, has sent his heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Ganiyu Johnson, former member of the House of Representatives, on the occasion of the later’s birthday.

    In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media,Mr Rasheed Iskilu,Olasoju lauded Engr. Johnson for his unwavering dedication to public service and his impactful contributions to Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency and Nigeria as a whole.

    A suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory after spending 27 months in detention.

    Kyari was detained following his arrest on February 14, 2022, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for alleged involvement with an international drug cartel.

    Kyari, along with four members of the Police Intelligence Response Team—Sunday Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba, and John Nuhu—was arraigned on March 7, 2022.

    Two suspected drug traffickers, Chibunna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne, who were arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, were also charged.

    While Kyari and the IRT members pleaded not guilty, Umeibe and Ezenwanne pleaded guilty and were convicted.

    Despite multiple applications, Kyari’s requests for bail were repeatedly denied until a recent decision by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

    On May 22, 2024, Judge Emeka Nwite, granted Kyari bail to allow him to conclude the burial rites of his mother, Yachilla Kyari, who died on May 5.

    As part of his bail conditions, Kyari was required to deposit his passport with the court and report to the nearest NDLEA office during the bail period.

    The court scheduled May 31, 2024, for the hearing on Kyari’s main application for bail about the drug trafficking charges.

    Giving updates, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service of the Federal Capital Territory Command, Adamu Duza, confirmed to lnvestigator News that Kyari met his bail conditions and was released on Friday.

    Duza said, “DCP Kyari has perfected his bail conditions, and has since been released today.”

    The leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Branch, has felicitated the council chairman, Otunba Adebayo Aremu Olasoju as he becomes a year older.

    The youth body hailed the Olasoju for his giant strides in the council area that have sustainably brought about development in all facets of governance.

    In a congratulatory message signed by the coordinator, Comrade Sikiru Ololade Akibu and the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Najmudeen Mustapha Olorunwa, the youth body described Olasoju as a youth-friendly and ever-supportive honcho lauding him for always supporting their cause.

    “We can’t but, on behalf of the thousands of youthful individuals in Isolo LCDA, celebrate our indefatigable and ever-supportive council chairman, Otunba Adebayo Aremu Olasoju on his age addition today. We are pleased to celebrate him on this auspicious day as it has been an honour to have him as the mayor of our dear LCDA.

    “The admirable development Isolo LCDA has recorded in almost all sectors of governance in the last three years is a result of Otunba Olasoju’s qualitative leadership. It is safe to say that the council area couldn’t have had it better.     The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially sworn in thirteen newly High Court judges. The swearing-in ceremony took place today at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House in Ikeja.

    Among the new judges are Hon. Justice Azeez, Fimisola Augusta, and Hon. Justice George, Alfred Akingbola, who bring a wealth of experience and dedication to their new roles. The roster also includes Hon. Justice Badejo-Okusanya, Yewande Jokotola, and Hon. Justice Shonubi, Adenike Kudirat, both noted for their legal acumen and commitment to justice.

    The ceremony highlighted the commitment of the Lagos State government to strengthening the judiciary and ensuring swift and fair administration of justice. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the critical role these judges will play in upholding the rule of law and addressing the backlog of cases in the state’s legal system.

    Other distinguished appointees include Hon. Justice Layinka, Oyeladun Amope, and Hon. Justice Sunmonu, Tunde Bashiru, whose appointments are seen as pivotal to enhancing judicial efficiency. Hon.     As part of activities marking this year’s celebration of International Children’s Day and further to the financial institution’s support for the growth of the Nigerian child, Union bank of Nigeria recently hosted kids to a special Barnyard Fiesta at its multiple-purpose Sports complex, the Stable, located at Bode Thomas, Surulere.

    The Barnyard Children’s Fiesta, held on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, entertained kids of various ages with video games, face painting, dancing, and singing contests.

    The program also organised a talent show that showcased the creativity of the children who were in attendance on the day.

    The event, which was also well attended by parents and other fun seekers, played host to some of the Bank’s senior executive team, including Yetunde Oni, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, who was on hand to cheer and interact with various children as they engaged in the different fun activities lined up for them.

    The President, Coalition of Professional Women in Politics (COPWIP),Hon. Engr Atinuke Wuraola Owolabi has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his one year in office.

    Engr. Owolabi in a congratulatory message signed to mark the 25th year of uninterrupted democracy in the country and the first year anniversary of the Tinubu administration, said the president is committed to building a country that Nigerians will be proud of.

    She noted that President Tinubu leadership and dedication over the past year is highly commendable as the nation is inspired by his unwavering commitment to advancing the nation’s progress and prosperity of its citizenry.

    Ahead of his one year in office, President Bola Tinubu has flagged off the construction of the 700km Lagos-Calabar coastal road.

    The event took place in the Victoria Area of Lagos State on Sunday by 6.30pm and was attended by top government dignitaries including the Minister of Works Dave Umahi, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio,Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; his Ogun counterpart Dapo Abiodun, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and the Kwara State governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, among others.

    During the event, President Tinubu expressed optimism that the road will be completed, describing the flag-off as his “bragging day”.

    He said,“It’s my bragging day, we will do this road. We are determined to do it.”he submitted

    Earlier the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio represented the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the commissioning ceremony to inaugurate the reconstructed Apapa-Oworonshoki-Ojota Expressway after the competition of the project that started about six years ago.

    Senate President, Godwill Akpabio who was in company with the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and others stated that the Apapa-Oworonshoki-Ojota Expressway reconstruction was carried out by the Dangote Group in conjunction with the Federal Government.

    The Senate President hailed the work done on the Apapa-Oworonshoki-Ojota Expressway and the Third Mainland Bridge, stating that it is a great feat by any standard.

    Speaking also at the event, Umahi praised the construction company Hitech, saying that no other one can compete with them when it comes to concrete road construction.

    He said that the work done by the Federal Government on the Third Mainland Bridge, another project for commissioning same day, was more that rehabilitation work.

    Explaining why the project took so long to be completed, Dangote said the government initially gave the company only sections one to three of the road before realising that the section two that was built with asphalt was also bad. He said that they were only given the section two when they were almost done with the sections one and three.

    The Chairman of Dangote Group said the occasion marked a significant step in the journey towards transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape.

    Dangote praised the quality of the road, recommending that the Federal Ministry of Works consider replacing Nigeria’s asphalt roads with concrete roads.

    After the commissioning of the Apapa-Oworonshoki-Ojota, the Senate President and other government officials left to join President Tinubu in the flag off of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
